Well, you need players that can handle this coaching this. Miami is good like this. Spo does it well. You need attention to detail and a "Culture" where players come in and will not get offense touches and we all know thats how you get paid in the NBA. So perhaps thats why Thibs gets a bad rap by many in the league. They don't want to expend the energy on defense and then get called out for offensive production decline because of it. Cam could not adapt. Obi. It happens.
Guys like Josh do get paid. iHart will get paid. Duece spend three years offensively challenged but he had the defense down.
Do it right and you get paid here.

One more time......That defense wore the 76ers out. Had to just keep it close enough then go for the kill.

The funny thing is Thibs stock is rising so high and the Knicks culture is rivaling every team including the Heat, so much so that players who voted against Thibs are probably looking deep into their own soul with disgust for feeling that way.

Nalod @ 4/29/2024 8:45 AM
iHart in first half kept Embiid in check. You saw the video. They made him and maxey work hard.
As for the fouls that piled up in the 3rd? That was a desperate team that went to its strongest hand and it did get Embiid to the line. Nurse had little choice. But it exhausted his star player. When OG took over he was very clear he would not get tangled up with him which gave Embiid shots. Ones he did not hit.

Its not that Thibs was at fault at not doing things earlier. He did them in a timely fashion. iHart was not overly upset and I think Richard Jeff was pretty ok calling them real fouls. There was contact. Embiid get to the line more than any other player. He is the best in the NBA at drawing contact. Its not conspiracy. Its real. Maybe Thibs knew exactly what hew as doing with Isiah?

We won the game. Thats the only certainty I have! LOL!!

Whenever something works you can make the argument "we should've done it earlier". It's kind of simpleton logic to do that.

there was contact but there's contact on just about every play, especially in the playoffs.

It was probably the best officiated game of the series, but they def got ticky tacky with Ihart for a while there, and that Lowry 3 over Brunson on the floor was just silly... talk about a "non basketball play".

I hope they make an Embiid bobble head that blinks with one eye

I hope they turn the Embiid nut kick into a finishing move in Mortal Kombat.

Agreed but what I reallly love is when Deuce hit big 3 and Rick flew off the bench pumping his fist for Deuce.

I think Rick is low-key adding toughness to this squad.

If Randle had gotten surgery the day after the injury, would he be ready to come back now?

On I-Hart just work more early and keep hands off his body - can live with that but not the reach in’s.

On Randle I really go back/forth - we miss hiss physicality and points BUT we don’t miss the lazy rotations, not running back on D, ball-stopping and dumb plays. Right now we are a tough unit — Julius is often playing in his own gym.

We still need 1 more win here

Ive been feeling this way since the big comeback down 20 in the IST game. This team and coach 100% are NOT for everyone and I am sure there are talented player we could be missing out on. OH well. What we have instead is a hive. These guys all believe in themselves and if you listen to Thibs its always about the work, not the outcome. Obviously he's a maniac regarding winning, but he's always saying the same thing... "I believe in player x because I see him put in the work."
Followed by player x saying "Thibs and the team have confidence in me so..."

These guys also play with joy. To me the BEST thing I have seen from Thibs and this staff is how they dont try to change players, rather they focus on making them the best version of themselves possible. Jules, the Nova guys, McBride, Mitch, IHart... (I cant phucking wait to see OG a few years under Thibs). These guys all seem to do what they do, just better and better and now we have been given the gift of Jalen.

Somehow we have the squad, the coach, the 1A finisher, the top shelf role guys, the 2nd guy and we have all our picks and 3-4 extras coming in. Rokus might even be a good bench guy here as well. Wow. Leon's been cooking. Feels like after 20 years we are back.

I dunno. I think Randle has embraced Brunson as the team general and it was having a good effect on Randle as the season went on.

DLeethal @ 4/29/2024 10:08 AM
30 mins of Randle would be wonderful in this series. You can hide him on their lifeless wings and he would punish whatever skinny dude they put on him on defense. This team needs Randle or a player of his caliber to actually contend. We should not be fooled that this current team can punch above their weight against the top 3 teams of the league. Even Miami last year had their magic run out and they got annihilated by a truly elite team. Miami of last year is the blueprint for us this year IMO. We can make an exciting run but to go all the way will require a lot of luck and good fortune and probably some injury help.
DLeethal @ 4/29/2024 10:10 AM
Knicks are amazing but when Maxey and Embiid are cooking you can see they struggle to match that firepower. They need more firepower to go all the way. But their current crop is good and their defense and identity and Brunson can take them far this year.
SergioNYK @ 4/29/2024 10:18 AM
I am still in shock over that game by Brunson! Highest scoring playoff game by a player in NYK history! We are so blessed! Think about how much and how long we waited for that PG and I honestly never in my wildest dreams expected him to be this good! The play that will stand out for me is the one on one iso on Embiid. Was such a momentum changer!

Such a blessing when Hartenstein got those 5 dumb fouls on Embiid in the 3rd and Thibs was forced to go with OGA on Embiid. OGA shut him down! Embiid didn't even hit a shot in the 4th! Just elite fronting defense, ball denial and physical play without fouling! Embiid was so shook! Props to Precious too! He was outstanding! Loved that block on Embiid's 3!

Only Josh Hart can have such a big game without hitting a single shot. He took the hearts out of the Sixers with his rebounding in the 4th! He's very Rodman like in that sense. Deuce hit some timely shots too!

Fingers crossed Mitch and Bogey can go tomorrow or soon. We have to take care of business and send these crybabies on vacation after tomorrow. We will.

WOW - I would not have thought that.

For me it’s incredible the refs continue to give him the arm swing/hold fouls and also giving him 2 shots.

He’s a guy I wouldn’t want to watch on Knicks - say that with all sincerity.

I-Hart has been great all year but stinky past few games.

With Precious, OG, Josh, Deuce we have 4 outstanding defenders on a string and moving feet bodies with Jalen lurking to draw charges.

Thibs to Jalen: "Do SOMETHING anything on D and that'll be AOK with me"

Rick is also the one guy who can truly talk to Brunson in a way no one else in the world can. Literally. And when his son is not heading in the right direction, he can pull him aside and TALK.
