Your make it sound like it was a decision.

It wasn’t?

Mitch shouldn’t have been in the game in that situation. Precious should’ve been part of the 8 man rotation. Instead Thibs sat him and went with 7 guys.

We don’t go up 6 without Mitch though. He wreaked havoc on D late in the 4th.

It's part of the reason why I feel we need Mikal Bridges. I love Donte but his inconsistency is par for the course come playoff time. I still love his fit for this team but think all parties would be better served with him coming off the bench, fulfilling the role we intended for Bogdanovic

Done —- Burks for Bridges and Nets throw in 2030 1st rounder.

Lol, I think we might need a bit more.

Honestly, I wonder how much traction we can get if we offered Julius for him straight-up.

Julius will be going with Mitch for KD.

We can add Obi’s brother with Burks for Mikal 😏

Lol. PHO can keep Durant. That dude is a cancer.

NYStateOfMind @ 4/30/2024 11:18 PM
I already pointed that out, so I agree.

NYStateOfMind wrote:I agree, I hate this abuse of the rule. The league said it was going to stop offensive players from initiating contact for fouls, but it has only gotten worse. Embiid runs over people, it's their fault. An offensive player is not supposed to move into or kick into a defender. If Mitch lands on Maxey shooting a normal shooting motion, then it is a foul. Stop this bull letting people jump forward into people and call it a charge. You are literally charging into contact. This and the 3-step Euro-steps and ridiculous amount of carrying, it is beyond getting old. Defenders are handcuffed from playing honest defense on most players and it makes stars who may not be otherwise.

I truly hate this play. Not only this singular play in particular, but this type of foul call in general. The player who inititiates illegal contact should get the foul called on them. Jumping into a defender in non-regular basketball motionshould be an offensive foul. Last game Lowery initiated illegal contact by intentionally stepping/tripping on Brunson laying on his back and it was a foul on Brunson. Brunson laid down flat and had his arms crossed. That's an offensive foul IMO.

Section IV—Fouls

a. A common personal foul is illegal physical contact which occurs with an opponent
after the ball has become live and before the horn sounds to end the period. If time expires
before the personal foul occurs, the personal foul should be disregarded, unless it was

EXCEPTION: If the foul is committed on or by a player in the act of shooting, and the
shooter released the ball prior to the expiration of time on the game clock, then the foul
should be administered in the same manner as with any similar play during the course of the
game (See Rule 13—Section II—b—ii).

b. A technical foul is the penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct or violations by team
members on the floor or seated on the bench.
c. A double foul is a situation in which any two opponents commit personal fouls at
approximately the same time.
d. An offensive foul is illegal contact, committed by an offensive player, after the ball
is live and there is team control.

e. A loose ball foul is illegal contact, after the ball is alive, when team control does
not exist.
f. A flagrant foul is unnecessary and/or excessive contact committed by a player against
an opponent whether the ball is dead or alive.
g. A punching foul is a punch by a player which makes contact with an opponent
whether the ball is dead or alive.
h. An away-from-the-play foul is illegal contact by the defense (1) in the last two
minutes of each period, and last two minutes of any overtime periods, which occurs deliberately
away from the immediate area of offensive action, or (2) prior to the ball being released on a
throw-in at any point during the entire game.

Getting someone up and making a normal basketball motion (like on a layup) I get. This James Harden chuck a shot and jump into the defender with a non basketball motion shot fucking kills me.

And I don't want to be a bitch here. I tip my cap to Philly. The Knicks had chances to win and served up opportunity after opportunity to Philly for them to capitalize. Maxey is a BAD man. He is going to be a problem. Oubre and (ironically) Harris kept Philly in the game in the first half. The respect stops there. Nurse acts like a clown (but is a decent enough coach) and Joel Embitch...er...Embiid is a generational talent skill wise (but this series is showing a side of him I have never seen before). He is that good. He doesn't need to pull this dirty shit.

Just realized we never went with the OG / Precious combo that completely negated Philly in game 4.

Those 2 give you switchable defenders with a brain on Maxey as well.

DLeethal @ 4/30/2024 11:27 PM
I’d start Deuce next game and shadow Maxey. The starting lineup has gotten waxed in every game. Can’t afford to let them figure it out now. Start Deuce over DDV and maybe it gets the starters going and DDV going.

Kind of surprised Precious got zero minutes with the boys visibly winded.

Ugly ugly game. Credit to the boys for keeping it close, but man, they dropped the dagger on the floor instead of sticking it in Philly’s heart.

Well…..the pressure doesn’t get any lighter. They had the game but inexperience and mental fatigue caused them to lose a winnable game. Blame game can point to everybody. Learn and move on.

NYKBocker @ 5/1/2024 8:06 AM
We did enough to win. We did enough to give it away. It's basketball. Let's finish them off tomorrow
DLeethal @ 5/1/2024 8:11 AM
We probably did more to win last game than we did in game 4 where we did similar antics down the stretch and Hart missed double FTs. Just didn’t come with heroics from Maxey.
VDesai @ 5/1/2024 8:24 AM
We did the same thing to Philly in Game 2 and they bounced back and won. Keep your head, focus, win Game 6.

Lets talk for a second about Maxey going off. Philly would have had 97 pts in regulation with Maxey going off. We played a great game defensively. Maxey got his, but we stopped Philly as a whole.

Point is we made mistakes on execution, but overall we have the right scheme defensively.

I'd love to see the Knicks put together a better game offensively. We have started games with absolutely no scheme, no shooting. My biggest gripe with Thibs over the years is he doesn't have an end of game play. His end of game play is get the ball in Randle or Brunsons hands and let everyone stand around and hope they do something. It never works. The ball was in Brunsons hand already so he didn't call timeout. We should have called timeout after a stunning shot like that and set up a play. I think we need to get organized better as a team on the offensive end.

This Knick team does not fear going on the road. I have confidence they will bounce back. No one is beating this team 3x in a row.

It's not even the piss poor contest but the fact that he also left Embiid, rolling to the rim, to do it. He's played well defensively against Embiid but we cannot have him on the floor down the stretch because he is a mental midget; as evidenced by that play. It was an awful decision that was further compounded upon.

For me, you KNOW Philly needs 3's and it's 2's you want them shooting, and also to waste time. Give Embiid a wide open layup... who cares, right?

Stand right at the 3point line and just put your hands up (if you can beat Maxey to spot) or don't go anywhere near the player. That's it.

We fan club members have solutions for this: 48 minutes of Deuce!!!!

Thats correct. You give up the easy 2. Mitch can't jump or lose his feet in that situation. Problem is he blocked a few on the perimeter this series and was going for a block. No need to do that. Clean contest, don't make contact, or give up the layup that's fine. We have a 6 point lead and the clock is in your favor. It was a major mistake. The guy was playing an amazing game defensively, but he made a massive mistake.

But beyond his mistake someone had to make 2 spectacular shots and they did. You tip your cap and move on.

We basically swapped ridiculous, extremely low probability finishes where the opposing team missed a critical FT and 7-8 points were scored in 25 seconds, with a game saving block to cap it. This series is insane.

We will win in Philly. We are the better team.

Can we say something about Deuce? Aside from his D, this guy has never been put in a position where he had to make the kind of shot he did - which should have closed the series. Ok free throw line jumper, but that's a major pressure shot and he makes a great read to go to the middle there as they are collapsing on defense. High pressure shot and he nails it, all net.

His bucket getting skills are catching up with his defense. He isn't just a 3 pt marksmen, he is finding ways to get in the paint.

DLeethal @ 5/1/2024 8:45 AM
This series was never destined to end in 5. Basketball gods would never allow for something like that to happen. I hope we can avoid game 7 but that might be the fate. This is just an all time great series so far.
