The two minute report means nothing. It's not like they're going to let everybody return to the court and replay everything. But the travel led to the foul call. The contact should've been ignored just like the travel was. Again, doesn't matter and what's done is done. The officiating has been inconsistent throughout this series and we should expect it to continue that way.
Tough loss, but I think we're good here. We've been slightly the better team so far in the series, and I would back us not to lose back to back games in the remaining series. If we don't win in Philly, the home court advantage should see us through. Need to guard Maxey though.

Meh. Watching that play I don’t think many people thought there was a travel that should be called or a foul that shouldn’t be called. I think refs got it right after Knicks played it wrong.

This is probably how most objective people without an emotional tie to the series are looking at it and I agree. Doubt anyone is picking Philly to win this series. Anything can happen but we’re still in the drivers seat.
We have a chance to end it in game 6 in a place we’ve shown we can win and then we have game 7 at the Garden as the backup plan. Philly is still the team on the ropes with a fading Embiid.

I mean, you hit your Free Throws and the game isn’t in the Refs hands.

I am beyond angry and disappointed in him.
I don't know man. That's a little strong. He made a mistake. He took it like a man. He will learn from it. This is the 2nd year of this team in the playoffs. Part of the journey.
I am sorry. Its hard to be "angry" at Mitch. You can be angry with the outcome. But not Mitch. That man could hardly walk and was staying with Embiid (who also could hardly walk, but was picking his moments to try and impact the game. He put everything he had into trying to block that shot and made a mistake. Too much effort is a mistake I am willing to live with. If Brunson hits the flagrant Ft. If Hart makes both FTs. If OG makes his FTs. If they don't have stupid turnovers. If Embiid doesn't get the elbow to elbow call on OG even on review. There are countless failures that took place in under 45 seconds of clock. Maxey outplayed the entire Knicks team in that time frame. If anything, I am blown away by MaxeyPad. That dude had ice in his veins and was just killing the Knicks all night.
I think we have every right to be angry at Mitch cause fouling in that situation is the worst thing you can do. He had to be smarter and aware of the situation. No point in leaving your feet to try and try to block in that situation. Give up a 3 if you must but do not foul or make contact under any circumstance.
That being said, I'm not just angry at Mitch. I'm angry at the entire team. Even angry at Brunson for missing 3 FT's and throwing the ball away and coming up short in the clutch. This was a choke job that the entire team contributed to it and that might have ended our season. We'll see what happens but it's opened the door to unnecessary agony and stress.
And now that the 2 minute report shows that Maxey traveled and shouldn’t have been able to move into where Mitch was landing? MitchBeast is vindicated.
Everybody not built to play 50+ minutes and stay mentally sharp.
If Embiid doesn’t have it going and Mitch made him soft as pudding cake, you know Embiid will look to pick for Maxey. Put your best defender or most switchable defender on Embiid. Mitch did his job. Time for him to sit in crunch time. I know this in rec leagues under the whistle. The HANDS team comes in. Small ball comes in. If Precious or OG was on Embiid, he switches on the pick and guards maxey better than Mitch did on those 4 and 3 point back to back plays. COME ON THIBS.
Yes everyone played a part in this lost. But I hold THIBS at a much higher pedestal because he’s been there, he won a chip with Perk. He has the most experience. Call a damn TO and gather the troops.
We winning in 6 because we have talented IQ players, a coach with experience and the best fan base in the world. LETS GO
Tomorrow's game is at 9PM. Peckers.
Bucks better win.
martin wrote:DLeethal wrote:Watching that shot again because I like pain, Thibs runs out clapping his hands like he’s clearly calling on them to foul there
Oh he was yelling at Deuce, right? I thought I saw that
? I have immediately is why wasn't the "I want you to foul" communicated prior to Maxey getting ball and coming up court?
I have to think if Deuce were told during our foul shots to foul he would have fouled - I am too disgusted to go back and watch that again.
The more I think about this we need to insert Precious.
If we play Precious at the 5 - what will Philly do? They will try to get Embid into the post off the wings.
If Embid has the ball does Maxey? No
Is Embid knocking down 3's from the wing/post? No
Also does Precious help our D in the high/screen roll where Embid is settling for top of key or 3 point set shots? Yes
Could Precious force Embid to run the floor more? Yes
I think we should be doing everything to encourage the ball to Embid's hands - he has been hit/miss and sloppy as hell with the ball last 2 games.
Could this back-fire in Philly? Maybe but I'd rather take my chances with Embid dominating the ball rather that Maxey (new Reggie Miller)

we had so many unforced silly TO's late, but so did PHI. cant really harop on it just move on and put it away tomorrow.
In a spot - up 6 with +20 seconds left. Mitch should have been glued to the bench. You have an almost elite/mobile defensive big in Precious who should have been patrolling the 3 point line and Embid screen action.

We really did. It was a team brani fart. OG also had a couple of bad TOs late in the game that would have sealed it. They should have also called that foul on the OG breakaway dunk.
Anytime OG is dribbling my heart is in my throat.
It's like when Julius starts going faster than capable with the ball and you are breathless until the bucket or turnover into the crowd - lol.

I get the - it's hard to be angry with Mitch --- 1) because he took full ownership of mistake and 2) he is a good egg (kid)
BUT - I hate the Mitch could hardly walk commentary. He was doing fine soaring the alley oop dunk, was making a # of plays defensively and sure left his feet when he fouled. Let's stop with the injury excuses with Mitch because he's never not limping.

^^ this is exactly right
we need to regroup and just do what we do. there are a lot of things that could have closed it out for us last night -- including Donte hitting some shots
Philly needed an unreal performance by Maxey. We won't see the 4 point play and the logo shot in the same game for the rest of our lives
We were outrebounded yesterday and numerous loose balls ended up in Sixer's hands - Oubre seemingly got buckets off each one.
If we can out rebound them by say +10, hit the floor and win the deflection / hustle game maybe we can squeeze out a 1 point buzzer beater to win game 6.
martin wrote:Data
Yes - I mean it's obvious Donte is killing us right now but who do we turn to?
He probably won't do it but could be a good game to switch Deuce/Donte starting/bench roles. 1) it might help our defensive starts and 2) just maybe Donte could ignite.
There is also this guy named Burks I'd like to sell you along with some beach front property in Phoenix.
I just want more Precious, more activity, more up and down, more length, more rebounding, more rim protection - etc etc and would be nice if Donte gets 30.
Problem with Donte is that he is a head case and if he gets hot he will start firing off balance 35 footers.
Chandler wrote:^^ Donte is dueMcBride has come ready to play. Hard not to love the guy
Agreed on above. It's not going to happen but for all that Josh gives us -- I can't help but feel Maxey has no fear going to the rim once he gets by the center. Wonder if maybe more rim protection slows down Maxey and him getting buckets both inside/out.
fishmike wrote:yeah... tough game. Both teams kinda stole one while the other team choked it up. This was obviously theirs. It's been a tight series with super star play from Maxey and Embiid. Nothing comes easy and finishing is the hardest part. Gonna take a big effort. Im still waiting for a big game from Donte. He's not been good. I think if we dont see better shot making he's gonna see a lot of his minutes go to McBride.
Though this last lost has the feeling of Charles Smith not finishing layup to close out Bulls.

No cute passes to Mitchell Robinson. If you not giving him an alley op he doesn't have a move to do anything with it.
Make free throws.
Coach utilize Precious and Burk.
I fear that Philly has found the right balance of rest for Embiid so that he is not exhausted down the stretch.
Yep - in bunker. No sound for me Thursday - can't take it.

I hear you but nobody shoots 100% - certainly not our guys and you had Maxey missing 3 free throws in 4th so it's more than free throws --- it's bad decisions galore on both sides of the ball. Jalen decision making with the ball was very sketch in game 5.

Your phrasing is confusing, but the players have said it was communicated at around the 3 minute mark they foul in that situation. Hart, Brunson, and OG have said something along the lines of it is on the players on the floor at that time because they didn't communicate to everyone.
