biggest thing Knicks need to address is Haliburton/Turner pick and roll.
Next biggest IMO is McConnel. I'm not sure if he's as good as his numbers suggest when he plays us, or whether we're just not taking him seriously enough. Watching him his game isn't that shifty. WOuld like to see Deuce on him, and Precious on Obi (who would guard Precious on Indiana? Obi?)
Todd - where are the lucky charms?
Fully confident in Precious and along with minutes at the 5 I would like to see a line-up with Precious at the 4 but where we have 3 shooters on the floor.
Brunson, Donte, OG, Precious and I-Hart where maybe Josh can get a sip of water, re-tie his sneaks and tuck in his jersey on the bench for 45 seconds or so.
Been thinking - this run with all the key injuries and the heart attack finishes — it feels only appropriate that Burks is given 10 minutes and starts to get hot.
Asking for a friend…..
When does TJ M go back to being the 7.5 ppg player he has been his whole career?
I re-watched game last night and Siakim only got 5 FGs vs OG - all tough twirling/fading buckets and zero FT attempts off OG. Rest of his buckets came off turnover breaks or OB having to rotate to another shooter.
Key is keeping Hali under wraps —— if he goes off we in trouble.
Precious to the rescue with 10 boards and 3 blocks —— rough guess 10 points.

Siakam is in a major funk at the FT line -- worse than mitch
might be the case he's afraid of going strong out of fear of embarrassing himself.

Hope we don't lose anymore guys to injuries, rebound, cut down on the turnovers, make our FT's and we'll be fine. Keep it close and Brunson will take us home!!
Its not just Brunson, but OG as well. OG is turning into a the defensive version of Brunson the final 6 mins of the game where he goes an extra gear and creates havoc.

Maybe we need to put Hart or someone with a little more size on McConnell when he comes in off the bench, instead of Deuce or Brunson.
McConnell killed us and Haliburton didn't. I think Haliburton's back injury + his hamstring troubles have basically made it so he's too tentative to attack the paint/basket. He took like one floater last game and it came up way short. Its not just last game, he played like this in the Milwaukee series (he did hit a game winning floater, but he mostly shot 3s and he played like this for most of post all-star break. I'm not saying he isn't dangerous- he's a phenomenal passer and can still get hot from 3, but compared to McConnell its a major difference. I just question whether he can or is willing to do what is needed to attack our defense.
McConnell penetrated and attacked the paint all game long and we had no answer for him. Even McBride who is a great one on one defender against PGs couldn't keep him in front. I listened to a podcast yesterday that suggested that we try OG on McConnell, especially when Pascal is out or can be guarded by Achiuwa. I'm willing to give that a shot. If McConnell didn't have so much success, we might won that game going away.
The other big X-Factor was Isiah Jackson who was their version of Josh Hart. Game changing energy and hustle and a load finishing. We don't really have an answer for a guy like that when our starters are playing 40-48 and he's coming in for a couple of bursts where is work rate is hard to match.

maybe. seems we just want our guy to stay in front of him. It's not like TJ jumps through the roof
Im cool with letting that little shit run about and what not so long as we win!
Indy is a good team. Knicks executed a good enough game play to win a nice game.
If Precious can give us his usual game we are good.
Lets just keep home advantage. Then we can discuss further.

same here. I am more worried about Hali and Turner. I am not worried about the rest.
we had spurts in game 1 that showed we could break the game open - but too often- we let them back in and had lapses. I expect Thibs will have some of that cleaned up.
Pass the ball, and please get over the half court line with just a few more seconds than 16 - every other team gets over in 4 seconds- we take the full 8.
OG needs to stay within himself and not make stupid turnovers like in game 1.

OG had a bad game. It happens. I would want him to be more aggressive, not less. I think having Precious on Siakam might help a little bit.

YES - heard he is something like 12 - 28 in playoffs.
This could be big in key moments as series progresses.

Team gets tired and leads are not sticky. It happens.
I read Josh gets distracted and loses focus when we build a sizable lead.
We down he is a man on fire.
Teams are pressing us. They are not winning. They are fouling Brunson also.
SAS beat the snot out of Nash once upon a time. Brunson is a bit more stout than Nash.
OG turnovers because he is called to create more and collect fouls.
Siakim will have a big game despite OG at some point.

You don’t think TJ is shifty?
To me he is ultra shifty - he is leaving Deuce in the dust with little hesi and cross over moves plus he is spinning whirling dervish——- PAIN IN ASS.
Rick Carlisle is one hell of a coach and will certainly be scheming to slow Brunson down. One thing that really bothered me was that last time the Pacers were able to control the pace- not a good harbinger for the rest of the series.
I'm also worried about Mitchell being the straw that breaks the camel's back. He certainly seems like the one guy the Knicks can replace but it's gotta be tough news for the team.
The thing is- I have a lot of trust in Precious if he's playing minutes. Precious was really good for us earlier in the year and the next few games have huge financial implications for him. Plus isn't Precious a New York kid? It's gotta be a dream to step into your home court stage in a situation like this.
Knicks won last game based on some great plays in the clutch and some lucky calls. This game will come down to pace and defense. Knicks have to figure out a way to slow the machine down.

Don’t trust Josh because he’s mostly focused on rebounding and fighting inside - Donte would probably be best other option along with OG but they have other players to worry about. Basically Deuce has to figure this out - he’s our best on ball defender on perimeter and he is biting on subtle moves by TJ. Get back to basics and keep his chest in front of your chest.

This is something I suggested with Precious at 4 with I-Hart at 5 and 3 shooters on floor. This would mean Josh to the bench so probably not happening at least in my format.
We have to keep Hali under wraps —- hoping for Turner and TJ to come back to earth.

I thought it was a positive that we played at their pace but still beat them - kind of shows how sketch their D is.
I don’t like that we played at their pace and some sloppy TO’s contributed to that —- really think Precious quick feet, rebounding, D and rim protection will be a positive add going forward. He negates some of the quickness/athleticism advantage Pacers have.
For me we take care of the ball, make some shots and #1 win the boards and we win.
