Click here to view the TweetI just spent an entire WNBA season being gaslit by the entire league and its press that the biggest problem with the league was meI'm racist, I'm sexist, I don't know basketball, I'm toxic, I'm not like them, how dare I consume their product, and don't even think about calling them out on their bullshit because if I do I'll hurt their precious fee fees
Also Caitlin doesn't deserve to be on the Olympic team, Caitlin wouldn't be an All Star if not for fan voting, we can't acknowledge that Caitlin is having one of the best rookie seasons in history, we can't talk about Caitlin without talking about the other rookies, people don't watch just for Caitlin, they also watch for me, it's all me, look at meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
You've got the Player's Association releasing whole ass press releases because one of the most respected sports reporters in history asked one single solitary question that may have been a bit off
Meanwhile AT THE EXACT SAME TIME behind closed doors they are bullying people out of the league for being white or straight, or for being pregnant, or for literally no reason at all, you have coaches abusing their players, you have pending lawsuits, you have teams shutting their own PA President out of team meetings because she's a snitch, and you've got legacy reporters running interference for all of it while writing whole articles talking about how Fever games are like maga rallies and how ominous they are and how they thought we might riot win or lose
But you're right
The problem is me
F all the way off
Y'all waged a goddamn peer pressure campaign for weeks trying to get CC to denounce racism in her fan base and when she finally did you wrote think pieces about how it wasn't good enoughY'all were ready to man the barricades to defend DJC against the big bad Christine Brennan
But when actual real people are being hurt
Y'all ain't got shit to say because it involves your precious Noey and Becky
I fing see you
Lol, it sounds like the NBA without the guardrails. The WNBA is still in its infancy there's bound to be conduct they need to weed out over time. Problem is, the bad conductors are in the majority. The original title of this thread was that you aren't allowed to be great at basketball, white and straight in the WNBA until you wanted it changed. Now here we are back at the beginning.
It took me a minute to figure out CC wasn't Caitlin Clark, its the WNBA problem child Chennedy Carter
CC is for Caitlin. There was this coordinated effort to link Caitlin with racist trolls online. Most WNBA player are not used to being famous so they are chronically online unlike other famous athletes. Once they troll figured this out they started trolling WNBA players and the idiots don't know to never engage with trolls because that is exactly what they want.
Long story short trolls beeen trolling hard. WNBA players constantly fed the trolls by replying and retweeting. They all then blame Caitlin fans for being racist and then blame her for not speaking out on it. Mind you she has done it multple times already but they ignore that.

By the 3rd time she understood what was going on. That is why she made sure to put it was trolls and not fans. The WNBA Players all at the same time started to link her name with racism right after she was eliminated from the playoffs. It was obviously coordinated smear campaign against her and her fans. We did not know it until now but the WNBA old guard does not like all the attention they are now getting because more and more stories like these about abuse are poping up and not being ignored like they used to.

This is why I am glad she turned down that new league even though they threw bags of money at her. She gets to enjoy her offseason and avoid the race baiters thats pervasive in the WNBA ecosystem.

WNBA players still hating. Everything this poster said is correct. To add onto her post is the fact that people have to link Angel with Caitlin with everything. THey are not even close skillwise but they have to make it seem like the a black rookie player was nearly as good as Caitlin was. CC was 4th in MVP ranking and Angel was never even near those conversations. The ESPN girls did this too. Then they tried to gaslight people into forgetting they were pushing angel to counter how well Caitlin was playing.

One of those 300k in person interviews coming up. I would not be surprised if its more since they seems to be doing more than just sitting down and talking.
The next seasons sched has come out and they made sure to Milk ANgel for Caitlin as much times as possible. They play 5 times in a 44 game season. I can't hate on them though. They need to do what they can to raise the WNBA money and ratings.

Most of the schedule they play each team 4x.
Geographically Sky are closest and yes, the match up with Angel!

Don't get me wrong, on and off the court I think she has been great. Few players can live up to the hype.
Lebron like performance and might have even exceeded. Few rookies can jump in like she did.
There was a natural curiosity given how close the college season ended and WNBA started.
Also, needs to rejuvenate and make sure that ACL stays in tippy top shape.
To be honest, Her involvement did make me watch and I was just not aware of the Vega's team good play the last few years and theLynx.
Thus I saw collier and Wilson play, two black players and was really impressed!
Mystic owner brings up some good points and she is trying to promote the league over clark. Not awful. Her response to Time magazine naming is sort of short sighted.
She is saying fans should look at rest of league and see there are some great players. Well, clark is doing that!
I can sympathize with the women who feel sore that a white girl coming got the attention, but like it or not they did not get the job done previously. It might be cause of race so one can understand. At the same time Michael Jordan, a black man became an iconic symbol beyond anyones imagination.
Kelsy Plum had the scoring record at one time. I never knew that or anything about her until this summer watching the Aces.
Yes, racism exists and it sucks that Clark had to be the one to draw attention to the league. Lisa Leslie did bring a lot of attention back in the day. There have been other but not nearly to the degree of Clark. Yeah, in a just world it should have been a black women. It get they are angry. But that reality has yet to happen. I agree there has been some bad comments toward her and she faced unjust hate from it. Weird a white girl had to not push back and take the abuse. Thing is, her play held up and proved them wrong.
Her gate numbers are incredible. Mystics owner was in a way trying to promote rest of the league. Thats not awful. But the numbers speak. Curious if it holds up again next year.
Clark has the all-time scoring record in 2024. Social media, etc created the buzz. Did not happen with others. Not with Plum either.
Yes, Media and those promoting women basketball at the college Level and preparing for WNBA pumped up the hype. Maybe the world was ready for it. Maybe she is a sorta pretty strain white girl matters. Is it fair? No. Is it reality? The numbers don't lie.
Rookie wrote:Regardless the league still lost money. This cba is going to be interesting. I really don’t understand how wnba salaries work. Does everyone just get paid the same like in the g-league?
The league only lost money because they are still on the pre Caitlin media rights deal. They are basically playing for free on the old deal. The second the new deal is in place they will make a profit.

Nalod I don't see anything good in what the Owner is doing. Look at how every other league treats Caitlin. Just in the few months alone we have had Caitlin be apart of the LGPA, GPA, NBA and the NWSL(Soccer). The only league who has this problem is the WNBA. This has been a constant thing. Everything she earned is due to white privilege. They never give her any props for anything she does to grow the league. She never sticks up for herself. Infact she always downplays things because she don't want to play the victim.
Back when they was picking the players for Team USA. They said she was not good enough. Mind you they picked a player who been injured all year and an old ass Diana T. Diana was unplayable the whole Olympics.

Here is A'ja talking about that white privilege that seems to be such a hot topic in the WNBA.

For context this video A'ja is basically telling Plum that her and Paige are the good white players because they accept their privilege. Here is the kicker the game they were at was Paige vs Caitlin in the Final 4. Notice how she leaves Caitlin out of the good white players list. This not not all a coincidence. I am a black guy that just wants to watch basketball and the people in the WNBA will not let that happen. Been on this forums for like 20 years and never talked about race with the Knicks. That should be proof enough this is a WNBA problem.
A'ja straight up just came out and said a huge part of Caitlins rise was about race. You have to click to get the full quote. Mind you A'jas quote was before the season. They were setting this up a long time ago.

Caitlin's brother can say things she could never without a huge backlash. So he just retweets this as a big FU to the Mystics owner.
