I bet Heart re-signs for less then what the Knicks can give him upon reflection. Players all make sacrifices except for OG who will get the bag. Heart, Randall, OG, Bridges, Brunson with Mitch, Hart, Ragu Deuce and our picks. I have spoken and it shall be so.
How about expanded trades
Jarred Vanderbilt and 17 to Knicks for Mitch Robinson and 24. Knicks select Zach Edey.
Randle 25 & 38 for JJJ
Sign Boba Gitadze for $5m MLE.
Sign OG with Bird Rights.
Brunson / Deuce
Bridges / DDV
Anunoby / Hart
JJJ / Vanderbilt
Edey / Bitadze
A trade that is more than the sum of its parts. Brunson, DDV, Hart are all bought into Thibs' method, so Bridges comes into this eyes wide open knowing the expectations of him as a part of this team, and the coach's philosophy. Plus, this means that you can have one major injury and still be top tier. Finally, yeah Philly, every time NY plays there, you'll be wondering where your fans are. And it makes for a compelling year of watching the Knicks every night they play. Make NY vs Indiana or NY vs Philly the first game of the season.

The clock is ticking. I don't think the team has the option of dicking around with a Goga/Edey center random now. Also don't think Randle 25 and 38 is enough for JJJ especially in this draft.
His fit is so perfect. Like the OG tradex2

You could let IHart walk, start Mitch and then mix in some small ball line ups with Randle at the 5.
Brunson
DDV
Bridges
OG
Randle
If we let IHart go, we'll be very thin in the 4/5 position. Mitch (injury prone), Randle, Sims and occasionally OG (injury prone). We have the potential to be unstoppable but if we get destroyed in the front court because of an injury, it's gonna counterweight the great 1,2, 3 positions. I'm sure the fo is aware of this but I'll wait to see what they do before getting my hopes up for a final/title.

Maybe, but we'd be so much better with iHart and would get owned by teams like Minny.

I read that it's because the Knicks are receiving more salary than they sent out. That would hardcap them at the first apron. If they send out more salary than they receive, they can go up to the second apron. It seems like there should be a bunch of ways to do that- maybe the plan is to make a pick for Brooklyn sign, that guy and trade him, or add one of the backnenchers, or expand this deal to include another trade where the Knicks send out more salary. I think Bogs and Mikals contracts are only off by 2 million so it should be pretty easy to accomplish.
There's a way to read this that it gives the Knicks some insurance against OG leaving, which is a possibility. I can't shake that in his last (healthy) game against Philly, OG was on his way to 40 points. I think the Knicks pay whatever is needed to keep OG, even if he only plays 50-60 games a season.
still don’t see this as an overpay because of the contracts Leon secured for Deuce and DDV.
They’re going to draft another high-energy wing, adding to a core of Brunson (27), DDV (27), OG (26), IHart (26), and McBride (23). We have one of the best young nuclei in the league, with no egos—just guys who want to get after it. The fan base loves this team more than any Knicks squad in the past 50 years.
Bridges wasn’t as engaged last year, but he’ll be locked in this year. With the Celtics’ core intact moving forward, this was the only move.

I don't think the Knicks have an option. They have to pay him what he wants or else we take a major step back. OG was always rumored to want $40m+ per year. This should be no surprise.
Good trade for both teams. Knicks are win-now mode they didn’t need all those draft picks
wow... the picks hurt but this is a great chance to win a chip. This team would have beaten BOS this year IMO.
Hard to get TOO excited until we resign OG and even Ihart. I think this makes moving Mitch to clear salary even more of a likelihood, and then drafting a C.

That’s what happens when you trade RJ and IQ for an injury prone player with an expiring contract
Mikal has shown he is uber-efficient as a #2/3 guy. He should be a 50/40 player here for us.

They can max OG now if they have to. No way they let him leave. This team is set for contention.
We have some flexibility with iHart/Mitch. I think we might have seen something in OG’s ability to play rim protector / last line of defense in the playoffs. Small ball lineups with OG/Randle might be in the cards.
Mitch/Precious and a drafted C is probably sufficient. We could also trade for Brook Lopez or someone of that ilk. With such a dynamic 1-4 and we already have some good Cs in tow we aren’t desperate if iHart leaves.
However I don’t get the reporting on iHart or how this trade changes the landscape for his FA at all. I don’t see who throws him a massive offer.
Crazy we still have 5 firsts in next 3 drafts and while we trade away picks every other year, we still keep one every other year. This team is built to contend for a long time.
I did not think it would be possible to trade for Mikal without losing Randle. This team is absolutely stacked now.
Alpha1971 wrote:Clean wrote:You know what I noticed? The trade is agreed to in principle. That means they can add teams to this deal in the future to make sure we don't hardcap ourselves and that would allow us to keep ihart. We have Sims, Jeffries, Shake, and Diakite to trade to help not hardcap us. Renounce Burks and Precious and we should be fine. Might have to trade a pick or 2 to do it but its possible.
Be great to keep I Hart. But if I Hart leaves for more then we get an other back up center and keep Precious or some other option. Sign Drummond and keep Precious and draft a center. I guess I love I Hart but can we survive without him ? Yes. Let's see what happens next
Let IHart walk

Bridges and OG are both PF’s in todays nba. Sims is emerging as a solid defensive Center. Jacob Toppin has potential

Let him do a sign and trade at least and get something of value

we gotta move Mitch, Ihart is the more durably of the two. Draft a cheap backup C.
or find a way to keep the MLE and sign Valencunias if Ihart walks.
Mitch for a future 1st, even a late 1st, would make sense to replenish some draft stock.
