Knicks can sign OG and play him at PF.
Makes Randle expendable. I love Jules, but how bad is our cap if Jules is traded with Mitch for KAT being our 5?
Jules and Mitch?
Its big, its bold, its insane but thats how the NBA works now. Its nutty out there.
I don't know where this all ends up but this shit got real fast.
Fuck Miami and Fuck Jimmy.
I don't like OG at PF on a full time basis. Keep Randle! Everyone acts like Brunson-OG-Randle didn't have the best NBA record in January

Everyone saw OG manhandle Tobias Harris and all of sudden think he could be an everyday 4...smh

We just saw the Celtics win a chip with Tatum at PF. It can work if OG can stay healthy
OG is 1000% perfectly capable of playing the 4. Do you guys watch the modern NBA?

GS been running Looney out there as their C for years with Green at the PF and he is like a 6’7

Knicks have legit turned into prime, pre-Durant East Coast GS
Curry Klay Green Barnes Bogut. Barbosa Iggy Livingston Lee
Yeah i can see the Knicks trying to 5 out and swapping Randle and Mitch for KAT. Its a different look - keeps the ISO for Brunson and gives you 5 shooters. Can draft an Edey for the bench.

So when the Knicks play the Bucks and Lakers you expect Randle to match Freek and AD? No offense but if you do you are probably wrong. It doesn't matter if the box score says PF or SF if the opposing PF is a really good offensive player he will be guarded by OG. That doesn't mean Randle sucks or that they should trade him but OG is a capable 4 and it's not a theory he has done the job and been good at it for a long time.

You would be surprised or surprised i have this take? I actually like Randle better than KAT. However as a 2nd banana to Brunson, KAT is a better fit. He can play the 5 and stretch the floor. Our version of Porzingis. If we are trying to match Boston shot for shot, this is the vision IMO. Bridges and OG are defensive neutralizers for their wings who can also score and Brunson is the 1A. KAT matches the mismatch they have with KP.
I still love Randle, but he doesnt play 5 out and doesnt play playmaking hub in the high post with Brunson. You can keep him as a 2nd unit bruiser - but maybe you can move up and draft Edey to replace that.
Anyway I can see something like this being a logical fit.

I am surprised at how many doors this trade has opened up for the Knicks. Not that they have to but they can now firmly be in position to move Mitch and/or Randle and it would be a legit move that could make sense for a lot of teams (not just Minny).
You can kinda sorta sell Mitch, Randle and 3 2024 draft picks. I hate to say it but Deuce is a magical trade nugget that is duplicated on the Knicks with DDV/Mikal.
Ask me what teams would possibly give up for Randle Mitch Deuce 3 picks. Long list suddenly. Wild.
OG did a nice job on Embiid for goodness sake. Not a whole games worth.
The kid is thick and the wingspan makes up for height.
Idea is OG cannot play 35 min a night and endure. On a stacked team we rely on him less and could add to sustainability.
HE wants the money but there is a reality to this.
Philly incentivized to get him also means he is not facing them as a knick. OG knows his leverage. I’d think there was an agreement of sorts when he was moved here but while we can whine about the question is:
Do Knicks draw a line and let OG walk then do something stupid? Leon and CO. have demonstrated great discipline staying out of the idiocy area of contracts. WE don’t want to lose him for nothing and we don’t want him in PHilly either. That makes them formidable. WE traded IQ and RJ and want value in return but there is a limit.
i don't think the right question is whether OG can play 4
the right question is whether should he play 4. My answer no. our identity is defense, rebounding, extra possessions. OG at 3 is a beast. he is not a beast at 4.
if we lose iHart i expect Randle will play more 5
i'm trying to figure how DDV and Hart get enough minutes now

If we lose iHart you can get “I can’t drive” tattooed on your back.

Or you can just tell people that you really like 505 jeans that much.

Positions in basketball have become BS! The idea is to have versatile players who are capable of filling any number of needs depending on the matchup. OG will be required to defend 4s at times along with 5s, 3s and 2s. Bridges will be expected to do the same. Probably not 5s, but some 1s.It's not something to really get hung up on until we see the final roster.
the other shoe probably drops tonight with the draft- I imagine we send out a pick with a player to clear salary and to get under an apron?
And if we take a center, that may indicate thinking about iHart/MR and keeping one or both.
OG with his wingspan at 240 lbs maybe is the perfect modern PF. It held up in many games. With IHart and Hart there was enough rebounding and quite frankly OGs defense gave us so much versatility

OG and Mikal can arguably be considered 2 of the best 2-way wings in the league, one is a big wing and the other is a small wing?

Hopefully one day we’ll find one who’s just right.
