Wasnt Dragic more of a shoot first PG?

Also bigger and more athletic. To be honest I'm not sure who to compare Kolek's game too in the current era. There aren't many guards in that mold in the current. The biggest thing to me is how he holds up defensively.

Nash lite

Let’s list all the white point guards - John Stockton, Bob Cousy, Jerry West….

Mark Price is the most accurate comp. Balanced and effective can pass, shoot drive to the basket. Nash was a generational passer and fast break machine he’s very different from Kolek. Price was a helluva player if Kolek is half as good he’s a steal.

TheGame @ 7/14/2024 4:48 AM
Kolek definitely knows how to run an offense. If he can defend at a decent enough level (he was only okay today on defense), he is going to be a solid PG.
Nalod @ 7/14/2024 10:47 AM
Kolek has yet to play an NBA game.

The early comps are amusing ourselves. No harm.

Price was a different era.
Nash was very athletic. The open court pace he created was great.
Is Kolek that kind of athlete?

TheGame @ 7/14/2024 2:25 PM
I certainly am not comparing him to Mark Price. I am just stating he looks like he could become at least a solid backup point guard. The passing skills are real. The way he ran the offense was light and day compared to how our summer league team looked last year. The shooting likely is real too. It is just the defense that looks suspect at this point. It is summer league but he looked good for his first game playing with players he just met.

Looks more like one of them Paxon fella's!
Was it Jim or John?
Sure, Price.
White like Nash.
Maybe pale like Kirk Heinrich?
Pigment challenged PG's that could shoot. Like Mark Price?
Fundamentally sound coach son types. Bobby Hurley?

I'm going to exercise my fandom right to have irrational excitement and hope about a new/young player without feeling any shame or worry if I am wrong.

Oh yeah totally

Pfffftttt. Nash wishes.

Just got to grow his hair out, they the same!

Clean @ 7/14/2024 9:24 PM
Damn, I forgot how cold Nash was.
CleaverGreene @ 7/14/2024 11:01 PM
To be honest..there is a little bit of Brunson in his game.

Doesn't have that straight ahead barn-burning speed, but he does that herky-jerky hesitation stuff Brunson does to get free

He seems to have a floater, but I don't know about his sub-15 ft midrange game, something Rokas flashed a bit the other day, or a Brunson turn-around J.

I see him as a more pass-first version of JB, who will be more of an opportunistic scorer.

He should be able to make a lot of Knicks happy with his ability to spot the open man, and guys who move w/o the ball, will be rewarded.

Hopefully, he continues with the floor facilitator theme on Tuesday.

I’d be happy with Jason Williams lite

Williams was instrumental in helping the Heat win their first Chip' as a backup PG. So yes, Id be happy if Kolek played a similar role for the Knicks. Youtube highlights and all.
