Imagine if Kolek actually went right and kept going right more than once a game.

Crazy how such a skilled player goes left 95% of time but maybe it’s an oddball lefty thing.

One thing he has not shown is any mid-range pull-up —— that would certainly be nice/required if he went to his right a few dribbles to pull up for 15-18 foot jumper on occasion.

LivingLegend @ 7/18/2024 11:41 AM
I don’t think Jokas touched the rim on his 2 threes and his one mid range going to his left on baseline.

He also did show some quickness on catch drive to reverse coming from left baseline 3 point line.

His size (strong/big) and arm length seem to stick out to me.

His hair cut also reminds me of Halloween and Michael Myers.

Anyone know if Kolek is like RJ with the mostly left-only thing? Is that in the college scouting?

I've seen it brought up a few times in scouting reports. But I suspect it's something he'll work on. He doesn't have the same luxury of running over people that RJ did.

totally agree but his court vision and scrappy play are things that are hard to teach. This guy looks like a legit prospect and reminds me of Nick Van Exel (another lefty)

Why isn’t everyone talking more about Rojas’s defense. That is what impressed me more than anything. I really like the fit of him and Deuce together in the backcourt. We need to see more of him these next two games. It’s time to start building him up as an asset to the team or for trade.

Very glad to see the progress - of course NBA games are a long ways off. But Kolek and Rokas in particular along with a couple of other players giving the FO some leeway is excellent.

It's pretty obvious Martin 1) based on these summer league games and 2) watch his highlights (again) ---- almost everything to the left.

He did make a nice quick drive with his right last game but left the layup short -- he was quick on the move though. He really needs to work on his pull-up and a floater because right now he is ALL 3 pointer or layup. He has such a crafty all-around game with both great vision and delivery --- if he adds a pull-up and floater look out.

Van Excel one of my favorite/fun players --- much more explosive scorer vs Kolek but Kolek is electric pressuring the D and finding people.

I mentioned his D in one of my posts -- good decisions, physical, good size and long arms combined with intelligence could allow him to compete with smarter players.

Wished we had more SL games! I remember we had 8-10 games back in the day but I hope Dadiet and Hukporti finish out strong.

Agree with all of that. It would be a mistake to let him go to Europe because we’ll never get anything for him and it will be a wasted asset. By keeping him we potentially have either (a) someone to replace Deuce if we trade him, (b) an asset for a trade deadline deal, or (c) a legit long term rotation piece. Let’s also remember that we can’t really play Kolek and Brunson together because of defense whereas Rojas would probably slot in at SG well with JB if there’s injuries.

Yes this is way too short! At least 6-8 games would have been nice. Hopefully Dadiet finally has a breakout game offensively. As of right now, I am starting to feel as if it was a mistake to bring him over so soon. We might have been better off letting him stay in Europe for a year and bringing in someone that can help us now, but I guess it’s way too early to say such a thing.

Excellent points...also, still not completely used to people describing the Knicks as "a smart organization" out loud.

Summer League insanity LOL

Clean @ 7/19/2024 7:28 PM
If he plays like this in preseason he is my backup PG at the start of the season. We have lacked someone to get the 2nd unit easy baskets for years.
MaTT4281 @ 7/19/2024 7:33 PM
Rokas with back to back nice passes that don't result in an assist (but 2 fouls drawn)
