Pure air ball. I got you. It’s still pure.

Nerves. Hit the gym and do better tomorrow.

Outside of the T-Rex style wingspan and maybe uber explosion, Dadiet got everything you want in a prospect. He looks really nice.

Way early but wouldn’t surprise me to see Kolek get more NBA minutes than Dadiet.

I'd almost guarantee it!

When has a Euro pick ever worked out for the Knicks. Should just pick Americans

My point is absolutely that I figure Kolek to get more minutes than Dadiet this year. Kolek is older, more ready, and as a back up playmaker would serve a more pressing purpose than another (very raw) wing.

Of course I don't really know andthen there is the matter of defense. And injuries. And trades. And who knows....

Kolek was always going to have a better chance to get more minutes. Dadiet was labeled a project from the beginning. It is partly why there was questions on if he would be a stash pick.

His wingspan is actually neutral, or little bit +. Years of Jay Bilas grooming have us all thinking that anything less than a +5 wingspan = being a failure at life. Wally only has a +3 wingspan and Rebecca seems OK with it.

Rumor has it his wingspan is girthy.

New sentence.

Not a ton, but some. IQ, Deuce, Mitch. While not value picks, Barret and Obi are NBA players. Knicks have never had a Euro pick pan out . They stash indefinitely. And then there's Frank

Really? I heard he has to over compensate with his Lamborghini. Something small enough to make his wingspan look bigger than it is. Now that Phil Jackson... Big wingspan energy.

Frank Ntlikna had a great wingspan. I think a wingspan is more important in boxing but I think a 6'9"" player can be ok with a 6'9"" wingspan. Didn't we have a Ukrainian shooter a few years ago whose wingspan was like 6'6" and he was 6"7" tall, how does a negative wingspan happen ???

You have some guys with craniums disproportionate to the rest of their body. So you might have a guys measure out 6'4, but he should really 5'11".Also you have dudes with really narrow backs and shoulders that throw off their wingspans. Genetics be crazy.

Dadiet had some nice defensive stops but looked like Knox on offense with the air balls and wild drives. Rokas was meh. Had some dumb turnovers but we got to see more of him. Should be invited to training camp either way.

Kolek looked as expected. Ideal skillset for that bench unit. Toppin looked good too.

Yes - at first glance Hukporti looked grounded (firmly to the ground) - wasn't impressed again at first glance. Rokas looked like a turd.

Dadiet going to chalk up to nerves and age - Kolek looked very natural manipulating space and lanes for teammates to get open.

I don't know how to analyze advance stats like the defensive metrics that smart people use to say someone is a good defender. But in college was Kolel statistically a decent defender ?

I didn’t see Kolek in college.

Defense stats are near impossible to report anything without an eye test because the stats are so tied to the team’s defensive scheme.

For example, Fournier had really high steals. But it’s because he stunted on defense for the steal a lot like a bull running at a matador. So, you would look at Fournier and say - 1.8 steals, that’s really good defense! But in reality he overreached and his guy blew past him.

Or other stats are dFG, which is the opponent’s field goal percentage when the player is within 3 feet. I mean, if you back 4 feet off it doesn’t get charged against you? So, when his guy beats him down the floor by a lot on a fast break leading to a wide open layup, that doesn’t affect his dFG%?

Myles Turner led the league in blocks leading to a DPOY. That year, the defensive scheme was to funnel the ball handler into the center of the floor where Turner was waiting. Was he a better shot blocker than the rest of the league or part of a defensive set that provided many more opportunities?

Plus Minus is about the team more than the player. We isolate the player when other players step off the court. OG and Bridges should up the plus minus for the entire team. Bad offense (long rebounds and turnovers) will affect “defense” like a quarterback giving up an interception on his own 20.

In the absence of tape, all I can say is that he wasn’t a liability on defense for Marquette. Nothing stands out. His team still had a better defensive plus minus with him on the floor. But would really have to see tape to say anything different.

Based solely on biometrics and agility tests at the combine, I’d expect him to struggle to stay in front of faster PGs. I’d expect him to have trouble guarding larger PGs. Same things I would say about Brunson. I’d expect him to read the angles in defense well and position himself to block passing lanes well. Guys who pass well tend to see the same angles on defense. Pretty much have to see, though I think he will be fine if they don’t ask him to do too much.

I think you see a gamer though. A guy with grit. I think he will be good sooner rather than later.
