Get someone in the Net deal --- I like the idea of D Sharpe or working another non-free agent center into that deal BUT don't let Precious walk when he showed out last year and is young.

Wonder what the asking price would be for Bamba or Wiseman? As a possible backup to Mitch?

Bamba is prolly league min. Dunno if he was healthy or not but he didn’t play a minute vs the Knicks for Philly…

He’s a journeyman with upside at age 26.

Wiseman is more athletic, beefier, and younger - and I think he still has enough
mystery that some team would pay more than min. Both of them have the tools to be poor man’s Mitch Robinsons. :)

Thibs and Kerr are buddies, so if the Knicks pursue him it’ll be in part from that endorsement.

technomaster @ 7/1/2024 10:43 PM
Btw, the Suns got my top 2, I think both for league min: Bol Bol and Mason Plumlee. (I thought the latter would have been an older, direct plug and play replacement for Hartenstein).

I think we can survive at center with Precious back, though it’d be a nice luxury to bring in a true 7 footer.

Yeah Precious and Sharpe would be a win at this point.

Reading posts like this makes me suffer from a severe case of center-envy.

Slept on it.

We are FUCKED at the center position.

Yes, capitals.

Chandler @ 7/2/2024 8:11 AM
Strangely I’m not worried one bit. This team keeps pulling rabbits out of a hat and seems well organized to boot

We will find a way. Who knows maybe it’s someone on weschester roster or some other g league or summer league cast off

We will find someone who does one or two things well and find a way to leverage that

I don't see the front office being blind sided by Hartenstein's decision. They probably began planning for this in January once Hartenstein really started shining in a starters role. The fact that they didn't extend Precious the QO also speaks volumes. I'm kind of reminded by the Kemba situation a few years back where the front office came out of nowhere with a deal for a player we didn't even see on the market.

100% agree this is the best FO we have ever seen in our lifetimes as Knick fans- I don’t care how old you are.

And Thibs might be the best coach we have ever had, with all due respect to Riley and Holzman.

I would have stayed in NY 100 out of 100 times.

Me, 100 percent, and I guarantee anyone reading this they would do the same in his position. He can set up generational wealth per freaking quickly. He gets to be a key cog on the best regular season team in the league and a team that's on the rise. I think once everyone puts down the koolaid they would say the same thing. If not then, maybe everyone would stop deluding themselves after they went home and talked to their wife

Everyone has a different definition of generational wealth.

Is there an official number?

oh come on. When have you ever been like "sure, I will work for 50 percent less". come on

everyone's definition is different, so he should subscribe to your worldview and take a 50 percent haircut 🙄

also, great call on Bridges. Did you have inside info? Guys, we could not compete with the OKC offer.
We don' have money for most of the guys that are being mentioned.
We gave up Chewy's bird rights when we did not tender him.
We are hamstrung for the moment with Mitch and Sims.
Its possible we can trade for a rookie center with picks?
I'd think rolling with a rookie is not a great idea given where we are. Tough position for most rooks.
Be patient. Its just two days in the off season and Clint Capella will get bought out at some point!

I don't have a path to how this goes but Mitch is our starting center and one has to pray those ankles/feet hold up.
He really was great before getting hurt.
Sims? Our stoner pinup gets another year for a payday. He needs to show up. I don' have great faith in his ability but he did have a long off season after shoulder surgery last summer. They not all the same, if it was his rotator it was a longer road than just the Labrum that Randle has.

Lets be honest, Embiid when healthy is the most dangerous player in the league. Few teams stop him. He ate up ihart!
Im not going to degrade iHart as not important. He was. With Randle coming back it would have been interesting to see how much ball he'd see.

WE basically have little money to spend and to keep the door open for ihart might have cost us.

Its already been confirmed that we have Achiuwa's Bird Rights even though he was non-tendered.

Good! Thanks for clarity.

Yea bird rights and qualifying offers are two different things. By not extending a qualifying offer we just made him an unrestricted FA. We can still sign him to whatever we want since we have his full bird rights.

I keep mentioning the draft some are forgetting we just added Bridges and that Thibs liked Hart at 4.
We have Simms as back up for MR in case of injury. Believe Randle will be playing a lot of 5 in smaller lineups that give Hart, Bridges, Devo more minutes.

I agree. Thibs has been way more adaptable than given credit for. Hart at 4. Deuce at 2. He’ll maximize strengths

Swishfm3 @ 7/2/2024 9:20 AM
Achiuwa is my guy. Love his energy and really hoping the Knicks bring him back.

If not, I think Thomas Bryant from Miami may be someone to take a look at.

VDesai @ 7/2/2024 9:30 AM
In terms of non-Achiuwa FA and trade options I think here are our options:

Partial MLE to Full MLE / Young Guys Who Have Some Upside:

James Wiseman
Thomas Bryant
Omer Yursteven
Harry Giles

Min Salary Veterans who can set a pick and board and not make mistakes:

Daniel Theis
Cody Zeller
Xavier Tillman

Min Salary Veterans who can block shots and run around but we didn't sign last year when free in lieu of Taj Gibson:

Bismack Biyombo
Chimeze Metu
Javale McGee

Guys who we probably can't afford, but offer something different offensively:

Mo Wagner
Dario Saric

Guys who are on smaller scale deals that are possibly on the trade market that we can acquire with a TPE/Picks:

Walker Kessler
Nick Richards
Dayron Sharpe
Isiah Jackson
Duop Reath

I am very curious if I-Hart shoots 3s in OKC. The Thunder have been committed to spreading teams out as much as possible. Shooting open 3s was a developmental focus for I-Hart before he came to NY. It will be fascinating to see how I-Hart role develops in OKC.

We have his bird right but are also constrained by whichever apron we hit on the Mikal trade? Is that right? I'm not sure
