Do we need to complete the Bridges trade before signing anyone?
Is this maybe why there has been no news regarding a backup C?

We still need to make a move to go from first apron to second to then giving Knicks some center spending $

With 5mm to spend we won't replace all of what he provided, but hopefully we can get close and gamble on a guy with upside like Goga. No reason to knock down iHart to rationalize the situation. Guy got his 29mm! We literally couldn't offer much more than half that, so its just a reality we need to live with.
Nah it actually could be a blessing. We have Brunson, Randle, Mikal all coming up on big extensions. iHart meant the end of Mitch and his team friendly deal. Mitch + a cost effective C might be a better scenario and help us lock up our other guys long term.

Does anyone know what we can actually offer Precious in terms of money? Do we still have his bird rights even though we non-tendered him?

We lost a player that we're going to replace with a player who will by all odds be a worse player, so its not a blessing. Its something we have to live with and maybe be able to live with if pieces fall well for us. I do think the front office has been shrewd and will have a plan in place to minimize the impact.

We would lose Mitch if iHart signed and it would have downstream cap implications. It’s not simple as “replacing iHart with worse player so it’s automatically bad”.

Precious just a smidgen below IHart in offensive rebound% (2 vs 5 in the league), blocks % (14 vs 17). I also think Paul Reed will get waived. Not sure if the Knicks could open up space to sign him.

How can we trade away our 3point shooting, defensive anchor? Let's discuss.
Can he play 40 minutes a night?
Nalod@ 7/1/2024 12:59 PM
Wiseman? He is not the answer, but if you looking for a low price under achiever he fits the bill. He and Robinson sort of started off similar. Few weeks of college then hire a trainer and get ready. Wiseman got his 1st round bag.
VDesai@ 7/1/2024 1:34 PM
Another highlight package that shows us why we need Goga here
EwingsGlass@ 7/1/2024 1:39 PM
I am pro Goga but I would guess that 5mm price tag is too low now.

Even if Orlando offers more, I think the Knicks sales pitch of having a 20-25 min role, behind a guy who misses 30 games per has to be compelling. Goga comes with a similar raw skill set and can see iHart's path to the bag now. Unless Orlando is offering 10mm+, I think the path towards making himself a lot of money in his career starts here.
VDesai@ 7/1/2024 2:03 PM
Also can Orlando afford to spend a lot of money on both Mo Wagner AND Goga?

I did like that he had back to the basket moves- kinda think opposing defense might not know what to do!
