Knicks · Upcoming draft picks for Knicks: Brooklyn's 2025 second rounder, Detroit protected, and the Washington protected pick (page 1)

I'm stealing the thunder from RealGM: https://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtop...

I forgot that the Knicks have the 2025 second round pick from the upcoming elite tanking machine called the Brooklyn Nets. We shall cheer for them to fail and they will love the support, their aim is clear. This is going to be a 31-35 second round pick for Knicks next year? Deep draft and this can be a very nice selection.

Knicks own rights to Detroit's 2025 1st pick if it is 14-30 or 2026 1st if it's 12-30 or 2027 1st if it is 10-30. This pick feels like it will mostly likely transfer in 2026?

Cade/Ivey/Sasser
Malik/Tim
Thompson/Fontecchio/Klintman
Tobias/Stewart/Reed
Duren/Holland

Washington pick is trickier: Knicks will get their 2025 if it is 11-30 (nope) or 9-30 in 2026 (prob not); if pick does not transfer as a first rounder in 2026, we get their second round pick which would most likely be 31-38.

The vet players Washington have brought in are at least in the semi well thought out area: Malcomn Brogen at PG and Jonas Valančiūnas at C, both are at least stable presence at the most important positions for a young team, hopefully they dont get injured for too much. If Washington gets a special player in the 2025 draft, maybe there is an outside chance the Knicks get their 2026 first rounder? Last time Washington was above .500 was 2017-18 and all it takes is enough frustration by owner or a player and they can make it to the 9th pick in 2026? We shall see but very iffy.

Brogdon/Bub/Butler
Poole/Kispert/Davis
Bilal/Sadiq/George
Kuzma/Bagley/Baldwin
JV/Sarr/Holmes

So, as of today, Knicks next year will have a super high second rounder in 2025 draft; not bad predicament for a deep playoff team who will have salary cap restraints. This pick will be like Boston selecting Baylor Scheierman this past draft with #30 but in a draft that is much deeper.

In 2026, Knicks will have their own pick and perhaps Detroit's in 2026. The Knicks will have a lot of possibilities with this pick via Detroit or another team. Knicks will also most likely NOT have Washington 2026 first rounder but will get their second rounder 31-38. 2026 draft is supposed to be very good too. Don't know how to compare it to 2025 but I've read just as deep/talented, I could be off on that.

Summary: very high Brooklyn 2nd in 2025, Knicks own 2026, Detroit 2026 (12-15?) and Washington second mostly 31-38.

That Detroit pick has very good probability to transfer in 2026 (12-15?) or 2027 (10-15?).

Knicks have movable draft capital for 2-3 years that are not too bad.

Under the circumstances just fine.

The Mikal trade probably won’t bite them on the ass until later in the decade. I’m sure Rose and co. can adjust and bring in new assets. Don’t particularly care to see the cupboard bare.

Dadiet will just be turning like 23 and he will be our next savior. Book it.

He's like a mix of Frank and Knox. How can he fail?

Exactly!

Super hard to really figure out what Wiz or Detroit will be next year. Pistons are not tanking and in todays NBA a team can make some noise after three years of sucking.
The wiz? bit of a different story perhaps, but that draft is in 23 months out.

It OK

I know he is 18 and I know it's just summer league but I was disappointed in how Daddies seemed to wilt and grew softer & softer each game.

I called his jumper PURE and I'm hopeful he will be a big time scorer ONE DAY but he really went into a shell in a less than pressure packed summer league.

Still believe in the shot (which has been brutal in summer) but he's been soft on boards, soft with the dribble and looked lethargic moving around the court.

Like you say in 5 years he'll only 23 but just wish he showed some more oomph and juice in the 5 games we played --- as a #1 pick he was overshadowed by 3 or 4 almost undrafted guys.

WAKE UP PACO

You guys remember when you were 18 and fresh out of high school and then moved to France to play ball and play against pros with a different ball and slightly different rules and were still adjusting to the language and living on your own in Monaco and stayed at the Billagio with all the bright lights and hookers?

Good times, right?

I get it and all your good points noted BUT he played soft as hell - particularly with the ball off the dribble (which ironically was a strength on tape in Europe).

I do understand this could be overwhelming and hopefully Paco relaxes and his confidence blooms. The shot / release still looks quick/pure to me but playing in NYC requires a special thick skin he will need to develop. Did like his D and off ball timing on cuts.

Dadi is a really low priority on the Knicks focus list for me. If he manages to see significant minutes over the next few seasons in a Knick uniform it either means there are much bigger problems to worry about or he has raised his game quickly to a high performance level.

Daddy Eh been exposed and the proper work will be done. He'll be ready for prime time when he is ready, a year? Two? Three?
He got the 1st round contract and time. Thats important for a young player.

That he is French? Please........

KnickDanger @ 7/21/2024 4:01 PM
Took Deuce a bit?
TheGame @ 7/21/2024 6:31 PM
I actually thought Dadi showed promise. He is good at cutting to the basket and he gave solid effort on defense. He has solid athleticism. He has a lot of work to do on his game but the tools are there for him to turn into a good NBA player.
Knixkik @ 7/21/2024 7:47 PM
I thought the Knicks gave bk their second round pick back , and they own the better of a Memphis and Boston second rounder next year ? Is that the case?

Same. I love him for the promise

Funny thing about Pacome is that most scouting reports said his weakness at the moment was his defense, which IMO was actually very good in SL.

He is a project. He can have 2 or 3 seasons to become who he will be, but the potential is real. The Knicks did right in getting him to hopefully become an important piece at a time when we’ll start to be more limited with our moves.

The fact that the Knicks actually chose an 18yo with a first round pick and didn't really trade back for him.... that's the best compliment Brock will ever give you.

That's love at first sight.
