Knicks · 9 man rotation... looking pretty good (page 2)

It;s obvious but it just comes down to health. This is the nicest looking Knicks team Ive seen in my adult life. They have top end talent, youth, chemistry etc.
Brunson/Bridges/OG/Jules/Mitch
bench: McBride/DD/Josh/Precious
fringe rotation/emergency: Sims, Payne, Kolek, DiopI love how we look. I think Precious could be this year's IHart. I suspect he gets a lot of minutes. He's rugged and a grinder. He can take it to the rack and some offensive skills. He's going to be left alone a ton and I think these find him.
Overall though I just love the combo of Brunson/Randle surrounded by elite shooters and top shelf defensive guys. Gonna be a fun year
They stretched out the payments for more cap flexibility I guess, instead of one lump sum.
The last couple of years it was EF eating $18m doing nothing on the bench. Before Noah it was Stat. Before him someone else going all the way back to McDyess
NYKBocker wrote:I think we go as far as Randle takes us. If he falls in line and be Robin to Brunson then we go all the way. I think he will.
Brunson and Randle will play the same 2-man game they were killing teams with prior to his injury. Mikal & OG will be ideal 3&D fits on the perimeter around them.
Randle operating successfully as a small ball center would be what could propel the team to another level. Have the Gs & Wings to cover while capitalizing on the spacing and ball movement.
SergioNYK wrote:This is a 55 win team if healthy.prolly more. Especially the way Thibs coaches. I think we have the style/depth/talent to win 60 games. We won 50 last missing Jules, only having OG for a slice and starting pretty mid w/ the RJ/Randle/Mitch clog. Even Josh had a sketchy start.
This squad looks like a regular season nightmare every night. We will see who we got come playoff time but I think we can legit challenge for the #1 seed.
shinmen wrote:Who will play the 15mn when Randle sits in this 9 man rotation? OG could but we really need to keep him fresh and limit his minutes. I'm not a fan of Josh Hart maning the 4 position. He's a beast but he's too small. Diop could potentially be the one but his stats are not encouraging.
When Randle sits for a few games, we're really thin at the PF position.
Josh did well covering the 4.
Feel that the NBA is going to a small ball high pace driven lineups.
Josh fits that.
Precious can always step in against big line ups.
Keep saying that we should not be surprised with a lot of Randle, Hart, OG, Bridges and JB.

DD really found his pace as a starter - I worry that he might struggle back on the bench- and I don’t have that concern with Bridges.
I’d definitely go with Robinson off the bench - just in the hope of mitigating injuries. He could sub in for either Prescious or Randle.
But - we’ll see what Thibs does. Bridges might play 40+ minutes because he can and Thibs would love that!

I think you have to wait and see how he comes back from the shoulder injury. This could put Randle in a shit mood cuz he moody
Jules is gonna be Jules and that's just fine
Why does everyone ignore that Julius has been historically (all-time) bad in 2 playoff performances.
I believe the stat floating around recently is - Over the past 40 years 573 players have played over 15 playoff games - of those 573 players Julius Randle is the ONLY player to shoot below 35% from the floor and below 30% from 3.
Julius being Julius = Hard to trust the man in the playoffs

This year will tell all. Hoping he can get to the playoffs injury free, and that he can show out. If he stinks it up again, its going to be hard to ignore. But I don't think so. I think with this supporting staff, he's going to do fine.

The Atlanta series was indeed a shit show. Atlanta played great defense, and had Randle’s number. And he had nobody to pass to, including Reggie Bullock who never got open that series. It also didn’t help that the league was favoring little flopping bitches that year, making it a short series.
Two years ago he had an ankle injury, and ankle surgery right after. I’m posting at 3AM because I rolled my ankle Sunday. Walking to the mailbox is an adventure.
Julius has improved throughout his career. And next playoffs he’ll be surrounded by talent and snipers. Personally, I’m not worried about Julius at all.

Yup PF and C are super thin. I'm not as high on this roster as everyone else.
If we have an Achilles heel it’s center. Joker. Embiid Giannis (yeah I know PFJ KP even clevland. As we get deeper into playoffs size will matter. Maybe it’s in house with Sims Skap or Big Mermaid but we need someone who can at least bang bodies. Precious is a PF willing to play 5 or do anything else thibs asks but the reality is we need someone big who is reliable.
Regarding Julius Iirc his shoulder injury is his non shooting hand ( better than the alternative). With all the increased shooting around him he will make a big leap. High hopes

That’s his bully-ball shoulder. I hope people are right when they say full recovery can be expected.

OG is going to take all of the backup PF mins. Donte & Hart will command 20+mins a game pushing Mikal & OG to play SF & PF a good portion even if they were to get 30mins a game. They are going to play 50% of their mins at those positions.
If Randle (knock on wood) misses a few games. OG will be the starting PF, Mikal will slide to SF, Donte probably slides in the starting lineup at SG.
In terms of winning a championship. Sure the hole at the Center position is a huge liability for the roster. Regular season though, team is going to win a lot of games. By the trade deadline this coming season. Odds are high moves are made to remedy the C depth for a playoff push.
Most teams have holes in their rosters. PHilly id not deep and dependent on two stars with some age on them.
Boston barley had KP for playoffs but he played enough and they won.
Suns? Lacked depth and Beal was never 100%. If so might not have mattered.
Minny? Some depth issues but really they had a great season and gained chemistry.
Teams need that. Talent alone does not often win a chip. Heatles year won saw them blow a 2-0 lead in playoffs!!!
Can we break through this year? I doubt it but if fortunate to have health it could be a hell of a ride.
Long way to go between now and then. Trades, Waivers, and who knows what can and will occur.

That's fine in short spurts, but that doesn't win playoff basketball and you are risking injury to an injury prone player

Did you miss this last playoffs? Cause it doesn't seem like you learned the lesson. Randle kindly gave us the opportunity to see what those minutes would be like, and it was extensive.

Everyone has a chance to ask themselves if the data is worthwhile to look at.
Elfrid/Rose, Bullock, RJ, Randle, Taj35yo/Noel does not provide that for me.

Jules has run into trouble in the past when he's tried to play heroball. With a stacked squad, and time, the hope is that he wont feel the need to try to win a playoff game almost singlehandedly.

Randle is in a contract year. He has an opt out at the end of the season. He is extension eligible so let's hope this doesn't become a distraction. It is the last piece of business for the off season
