A guy I have been keeping an eye on for the backup 5 spot just officially became available. Played for Ewing at G'town so there is that connection. Seems to have some good offensive skills and is a good rebounder. Hope we bring him aboard with our last roster spot.

Issue for Lnicks bringing him on is that they already have fringe guys as backups. Ie. Sims (Rumblings of him putting in work this summer), Precious. Don’t see reason to add another one.
Feel they will stay put until mid season and, if things don’t work out, look to trade for a bigger name. Teams can unload new signings in Dec.

Thanks HofstraBBall.

That makes sense. I kinda viewed him as a possible upgrade over Sims but I think they may stand pat and see how things play out with who we already have before making a bigger move during the season (if needed).

It would appear Simms healthy in the summer and gets to work on his game. His shoulder issues might have limited this.
If so, and Im only speculating then he gets his opportunity to prove he has elevated his game to where Thibs trusts him.
This is for the 2nd string back up. As discussed his "situational awareness" on defense is part of this.
While Mitch is no doubt the starter as of now, his injury history as fans thinking Simms as a starter is not going to cut it and ever worse is Huk or Skappy next man up.
Foul trouble or Simms injury or "Non Covid related illness" is a reality as well.
Its a fluid situation that might just have to be determined as we go on and the waivers will matter. Keeping some flex is part of this.
