Time lord makes $12m and Knicks don’t have contracts to trade.
They ain’t trading him. He’s the player Portland wanted in the Holiday trade and he’s part of the rebuild

Yep as simple as that.... Now if Portland was to buy him out that's another story.

They have Ayton and just drafted Clingan 7th. They are definitely shopping C's.
Middle of the season check in. Is Mitch Healthy? is Time Lord Healthy? Would be something like Precious+Payne+KBD and you might have to sprinkle a Dadiet in to make it work. Would have to happen after December 15 or so on timing. Something like this wouldn't happen early in the year, but I can see it be a viable option before the deadline.

Let us just start with No to Time Lord and just leave it at that.

I disagree - aside from injuries (which is obviously a major factor0 I think Time Lord is exactly the type of Center that fits with the roster. He is a rim protector and pretty good passer - combines elements of Mitch and Hartenstein. He has great range / mobility. When he was healthy he was a true difference make for the Celtics. The health is the rub of course. But the trade can't me made now, which is moot. Its a deadline deal and at that point you have some data on how the season is playing out and where people are at health and depth wise. The Knicks stacked some of these vet min contracts like Payne/KBD and maybe they'll sign Okeke and it will be give them the salary filler to combine with Precious to make a play for someone like Time Lord if the situation dictates it.

Besides the fact that he is never available to play and averages 35 games a year over a 6 year period, you would trade for him and give up assets and players who can play and figure out an alarm clock?
No no no no no no no no no. Leon does not think like that. He would rather ponder Jessica Alba for hours before thinking about this?

OG Anunoby also barely plays and we traded our best player assets for him. I think he's an impactful defender and a scheme fit. He's also attainable from a contract/team perspective so he's a situation that I think they will absolutely monitor. Very few players in the NBA combine rim protection/offensive/rebounding the way Williams can. Given we lost the other guy in the NBA who who brought that tot he table - Hartenstein, those are the traits/values we're most likely to be missing/needing at the deadline.

I am not reading past that. OG and Time Lord are not in the same territory. Neither is Kawhi and Time Lord. Time Lord should not be in the same sentence as either of those guys.
OG has averaged 60 games a year.
35
60
A year.
Talking about stacking 3 min salary player and Achiuwa for the skillset/position set we probably most need. You're not gonna get a perfect player but we have till the deadline to assess health. The guy does everything we want at the position so he will be on the radar.

Time lord has many positives. But his negatives far outweigh those IMHO. Although Williams is a very good defensive player passer scorer, I think his reputation is like Cam's in terms of what a guy like Thibs expects his players to do and the effort and consistency. Along with the fact that he pretty much just missed an entire season after surgery on right knee and he has already had 2 surgeries on his left. 35, 29, 52, 61, 35, 6 games every season. That's a well telegraphed risk. How do you compensate for that because you have to, it's not an option?
Knicks are at a very precarious salary situation and they are threading a very thin needle to keep that afloat, especially in regards to Mikal and Randle's extensions. Having a potential dead weight of $12.5 and then $13M is a threshold I don't think even makes it to Leon's desk, because he would need a back up to Williams too, and you don't just exhaust trade assets like that. Because if you do not have a backup plan for missed games by Williams, you are negligent? That's Leon's job and he will again have to search for more C answers. It is a known known that Time Lord will miss 20+ games a season.
I don't know how a team pulls off a 4 for 1 trade with roster requirements for both teams. You have 15 roster spots and 3 2-way players.
I am a Time Lord fan and could easily get behind him but durability is a big issue for him too
i think we're either sticking in house, hoping for an uptick on Mitch or Jerricho, and still hoping for The Big Mermaid, (and Randle fro smallball 5)
Or if we do go outside it will be someone closer to iHart than Mitch (e.g., someone who is not a major liability at the FT line in the 4th)
I remember how I was looking forward to Mitch and Noel at the 5, but neither could stay healthy. One or the other was often hurt. If Williams can stay healthy up until close to the first trade deadline, might be worth a shot. If the price is right.

Actuaries will tell you that is exactly the time to NOT trade for him because of probabilities?

Its either trade for him during the season (if Simms hasnt improved enough) or the off-season. If there is a need, I dont believe Leon wants to wait that long, if there is a need.
Kessler is going to cost a fortune. Williams and his past health problems might be more doable. Its a risk. Not saying its Williams or bust, but I wouldnt want to see the FO rule him out either. Denver took the same chance on Camby back then, and it paid big dividends.
The Knicks are looking for a backup center solution because their current center is injury prone and misses lots and lots of games repeatedly and I need to understand how using assets to acquire a backup center who misses more games than the OG center sounds like a worthy solution to the problem you are trying to fix by adding a guy with the same problem but worse.
That’s levels of layers of nonsense to me.
If my car has problems starting and I can pick a second car just in case as a backup, I don’t pick a car that I know has worse problems starting than the first. But maybe I’m a stickler for not wanting to get myself into a very predictable situation.

Sounds like an argument for passing on OG trade. Trading a ironman like RJ, for OG. Whats one more layer of nonsense?
