DDVs minutes would be limited on this roster. Mitch will have a big role when healthy. Rather than diminish DDVs value by burying him on the bench, or making McBride irrelevant, a trade was needed.

Because you have a big defensive drop-off if KAT is you're main center. The roster as presently constructed still needs Mitch. Donte 's three points shooting would be missed, but there are guys who can pick up the slack. Also, already has Gobert. They need more spacing.

LIke who? Really, be specific.
Leon is playing chess. The pieces like Mikal had to move first.
This is not a spur of the moment thing. Leon been putting this together for months.
Im sure there were other deals working also. But this one makes a ton of sense.
Go big or go home. Leon not going home.

Knicks have emptied the bank to get Towns,OG Bridges.. we getting another assert back for Randall and Dante ? I wonder if any other assets are returning to NY like a center or a bench shooter.

Nalod @ 9/27/2024 11:11 PM
there is your cryptic shit. The truth is out.
Did Jules want to go?
Did knicks not want to pay him?
I love the guy. Leon got tough love for knick fans.

WE can play Mitch and Kat on the fromt line. Kat with Precious? Kat vs KP.

First Leon move I hate. Oh well.

Yeah I hate from a culture and fit standpoint. Towns isn't really center. They're planning to give up too much for what's essentially a swap of two flawed forwards.

I guess you could play Towns and Precious together. Towns spreads the floor on one end and gives you rim protection and rebounding on the other so those two theoretically should fit. The flexibility with Towns gives you more mix and match options. I’m starting to like the trade. He’s a year younger than Randle and has 3 years until his player option. Hello 2nd apron here we come atleast for now

NYStateOfMind @ 9/27/2024 11:13 PM
It is nice to have the 3-point shooting from a C, but I would have been fine with Duren, even Vucevic or Sengun, Kessler if he wasn't on Utah. I feel Duren could have been as little as Deuce or Mitch and their pick back.

Did not think Donte would be in it but it makes sense because they don't need Mitch.
This completes Minny.
This trade don't get done without Mikal coming first.
Deuce is ready. Y'all said as much. It also makes the trade able.
I loved Donte, don't get me wrong. But when I said Mikal without Randle being traded makes it "clumsy".
Donte off the bench was not crazy. Its were he started last year.

Kat is soft? Well, give the man a chance. He played nice last year. Randle has not exactly been a rock for us. Love the guy, but he too keeps breaking. Its a good trade for Minny, He makes sense next to Rudy and Naz Reid as well. Jules has been getting smaller and can play some three with Mcdaniels at 6-10.

Do I love it? Maybe it makes us balanced now. Shocking right?

Sure its not perfect, but basically we traded two guys we got via free agency.
I have faith Leon and Thibs are down with this. On paper the logic is there. Will it execute? Tune in!!!!

I agree. I hate losing Donte but we were overloaded at guard. Trade makes us much more balanced. We needed size. Give Kat a chance here with the team that we have surrounding him. Randle also was due a big raise soon. Randle was getting hurt quite often too. Randle never seemed to fit in with the team concept of basketball, always trying to do too much himself. Kat makes a ton of money but he is only 28 yrs old.

Uptown @ 9/27/2024 11:13 PM
Don't love losing Dante but Towns adds versatility being that he can play the 4 and 5. OG more thsn proved he can handle the 4 spot. Looking forward to the 2 man game between Jalen and Towns ..
NYStateOfMind @ 9/27/2024 11:14 PM
Saying DDV would have a limited role also applies to Mitch with KAT here. I didn't say a trade wasn't needed.

DDV hurts alot but as someone else said....off the bench DDV wasn't all that. I actually liked IQ over him

NYStateOfMind @ 9/27/2024 11:21 PM
If the plan is to use KAT & Mitch together, that is intriguing. I just hate the bargain DDV contract used to make this all happen and lose a Nova guy. Also, in the last 5 years, KAT has played over 60 games twice. I love finally acquiring all-star talent, but with OG, this adds more risk.

This trade is one I don't have an instant opinion on. It depends on if we have Kat as a 4 or 5. Now it makes sense why we signed Cam and Marcus. This was known to be a possiblity for awhile.

Yeah his blocking stat line looks to have dropped after the arrival of Gobert

Can the Knicks swing Nick Richards since Charlotte is that 3rd team?

The new medical director of the team is going to be vital hope he can keep Towns, OG and Mitch when he comes back

This does open 2 slots for both with Jeffries moving out, if that is the final trade package.

KAT is definitely our starting Center until Mitch returns

That's not really the point. I'm pushing back on the idea that Towns solves the teams center issues. He doesn't really defend the rim.

KAT's rebounding and blocking went down once Gobert arrived. But check his stats as a center and you see 24ppg, 12rpg+, 1+bpg
