Knicks · Let the Deuce Loose (page 1)

Uptown @ 9/28/2024 12:30 PM
We've watched Deuce improve each of the last 3 years. As his mins increased, so has his numbers and confidence. Last year, his stats were as follows:

efg: 57% (up 12% from the previous year)
3pt: 41% (up 12% from the previous year)
Freethrows: 86% (up 20% from the previous year)

With Dante no longer here, I think Deuce will be the 6th man and or might be in consideration for the starting 2 Guard spot. Deuce has ALL NBA defensive ability and with an increase in mins, he may get some consideration. A lineup of Deuce, Mikal and OG is going to be ridiculous on the defensive end.

Rookie @ 9/28/2024 12:39 PM
While we could see that line up in game, starting Deuce moves Bridges and OG out of position and makes us small. I wouldn’t overthink this to much. Out starting 1, 2, 3 is Brunson, Bridges, Anunoby. Hart or Precious at the 4 until Mitch is back. Probably Hart who has Thibs full confidence.

I doubt Deuce starts, but I definitely think we will see a lineup of: Brunson, Deuce, Bridges, OG and KAT on the floor together quite a bit. Not only does that lineup feature 3 of our best defenders, but overall, this is also our best 3pt shooting lineup!

Knicks just submitted 4-point line addition to the Rule committee. Give it a year or so.

I would insert Hart there. I would try and manage OG’s minutes early in the season. Brunson, Deuce, Bridges, Hart, Towns but really there is lots of flexibility here to play different combinations.

Deuce was not in the rotation yesterday. Now he'll be getting good minutes and has proven himself
He's ready for this! Deuce is on the loose
BigDaddyG @ 9/28/2024 1:49 PM
I'd prefer a wing size player of the bench to be honest, but I have no doubt the doubt that Miles will be dropping Deuces on opposing benches. No Donte, but hell shine.
SergioNYK @ 9/28/2024 2:42 PM
Deuce can give us 10 plus points and 40% from three along with his defense off the bench. I'm 100% confident in him.
Nalod @ 9/28/2024 2:45 PM

Leon been on this for along time and it all adds up. Shamet, Mook, and Deuce are all part of this team.
Mikal made DDV obsolete. OG made Randle as well. iHart made KAT necessary if the window is open this year.

What don't we know? What did Randle want?
In the end, I expect they extend him? He wants a chip? They are contending and maybe a better fit with him than KAT. They save some coin this year and get better with DDV.

Im sure Randle will miss NYC. Fans will as well. Leon is a serious man. Sentiment does not win chips.

Josh will start as that group is going to need a lot of help on the boards. That bein said McBride is a Thib's player who easily see 30mpg off the bench. He can sub for any wing, just goes out and guards guys and hit's shots. He's taking good notes from Josh as well in learning to be a demon in transition.

Deuce about to go hog wild and get 6MOY

we are obviously a starter heavy group now. They really need him. He's gonna be great just doing Deuce things

How could he not if he continues his trajectory? Either that or Most improved

I absolutely love that. That's the Championship closing lineup. Except we need boards...a dilemma

He learning all the Brunson tricks!

I couldn’t have said this better myself. The only push back is “Randle a better fit than Kat” I’m not so sure. Financially yes. But I believe Randle will clog the lanes more than Kat which in turn forces Ant and others to be more jump shooters and attack the rim less. But will be interesting to see. DDV fits like a glove.

I think both of you are right.

How about this take: Currently, Minny has a lot of ownership, luxury tax, and player resigning hurdles to cross. If there is no aprons, Minny probably does not do this trade, they just wait to find more shooting by spending extra but they couldn't.

Twolves most likely did not make a basketball trade, they made a salary cap level trade and this is the best they could finagle. DDV fits a need, Randle is an all-star PF. Randle is on a smaller contract and can be MUCH more easily moved again at the right time. Minny gets $ relief and more maneuverability.

To avoid ownership $ obligations, they needed to do something and moving a KAT like contract is infinitely hard. No one is taking on Gobert and they like Naz. Knicks wanted KAT forever.

Solutions for both teams presented themselves because DDV had the season he had and his salary fit enough.

Im not sure either. But its going to be fun to see how it unfolds. Always got few rabid fans that hate it and will revel in a knick disappointment.
Odds are Knicks don't win a chip. No team wins with its main player or players hurt. We have a three year window and it very well might be year 2 or 3 if it happens. WE'll see. Its a long ass season!!!!!

I got my tickets to see Knicks on Nov. 29th in CLT! 12 noon game of all things on Black Friday.

Can Deuce work as a movement shooter? I.e. if he's gonna play off guard, can he run off screens curls? I actually think he has a pull game and he's fearless going to the basket. I could see him approximating more of Quickley's game as the season goes on and he has a green light to score.
