Spurs do not have championship roster but having Brunson/Hart locked for the same cost as Fox is wild in a salary cap league. So good for the Knicks

San Antonio tax. As great a reputation Pop has and the history of the spurs it’s not exactly a fun or happening city. It’s not a NY, LA, Miami, SF or even Houston or Dallas. And as much potential as Wemby has this isn’t the 2000’s when they had Duncan, Parker, Ginobili in place.

Im guessing your not seeing the potential of that roster and how its coming together? Wemby's upside is as extreme as any player in the history of the game. With Castle and Dylan Harper they have a unique young trio to grow with. Nobody is really thinking it happens this year. Fox gives them that vet leadership and still in his prime. Whats crazy is the Spurs winning in 1999 did so without Parker or Ginobli even on the roster! There was a 4 season gap between the 1st and second chip. Outside of Duncan and Robinson that team really changed in that time.

They have drafted this core which is obviously not ready. Question is how long? Wemby, Castle and Harper are all a year apart thus the contracts are staggered. We don't know how those three pan out. They do have back to back Rookie of the Year and Harper could be in the mix this year.

Wemby is the next unicorn? But we all know they don't exist. At some point does a guy that size break thru and fulfill what others did not? We just don't know.

Does Kareem Abdul Jabbar count? I know he's listed as 7'2, but he's always seemed closer to 7'3 to me.

From Mikan, to Wilt, to Kareem these guys no doubt changed the game and are the titans among the greats. Wilt and Kareem for sure fulfiled the hype. Wilt destroyed the numbers!

By Unicorns perhaps I meant post KP where a new breed of player of extreeme height have as good a handle as physics can allow and can create their own shot from beyond the three point arch. Durant at seven foot, or just below could be the bench mark for this era. "Unicorn" was a term given to KP in a sarcastic tone as they are a fable. Jokic comes close but not as a shot blocker. Embiid had the defensive chops in his era of dominance and could create off the dribble. Wemby rim protection is already elite. This kid could possess more tools than any other at that height. Time will tell.

I said "Wemby's upside is as extreme as any player in the history of the game"......We saw an early glimpse of this prototype in Ralph Sampson who came up in the era where his height dictated he play center. he had a slight build like Wemby but his back became an issue as he could not hold the huge centers in the low post. He had the a great outside shot for a big man but that was a different era. Rockets tried him next to Hakeem they could not get it done as in time Ralph's injuries were problematic. KP "the unicorn" faces a similar trajectory but for different reasons.

Kareem no doubt upheld the hype and after 4 years at UCLA stepped in and dominated right away. No disrespect intended. Wemby came in which near Lebron type hype in a new era. He has big expecations and with his size he could be a multiple MVP if it all comes together and can maintain health. Kareem and Wilt had incredible longevity as did Shaq. Mostly rare for the 7 footers and taller.

There is a relatively long highlight video of YOUNG Abdul Jabbar that is possibly the most dominant display of all around grace/skill/dominance I've ever seen.

No idea how to post on these boards but wish someone would find and post.

Most tend to remember old Kareem in late 30's rather than young Lou Alcindor / Abdul Jabbar.

Maybe too intelligent for his own good sometimes.

In my view -- he's in the discussion for best to ever play.
