Damn, I was hoping. Resign Shamet then, nothing else to wait on.

I wanted him too —- based on Bondy comment seems Knicks are giving indication they have ~5 minutes of playing time available which seems like a mistake to me.

Just looking at list Martin posted not sure why we’d rush to sign Shamet - he played ok BUT….a bit meh for me and I wanted him last year.

CP3 wants to start. Horford was linked to GS. Brogdon redundant with Clarkson. Beasley may be out of the league (not that he'd even be in play at the min). Simmons ...

I GUESS Chris Boucher could be a name I'm interested in?

$10m contract and more playing time.

This irks me. Guy plays 54 games in teh last 3 seasons and its likely he is not as good as Deuce at this point, and at a price point we dont' really have money for but he is "ideal"?

Then you got knickers fan drunk uncle that will take this as fact and get pissy about it.
Since Lakers signed him it must be a good idea or Adam Silver conspired for it.

If Smart can go he is a good sidekick to Luka. Not to Brunson. We don't have the opportunity for Smart as currenlty constructed.

My comment was more towards fans who wanted no part of Smart —- yes the $5M bi-annual was more than we have but I don’t get this notion we have no minutes for a good vet ( make some).

Smart was basically held out last 2 seasons as his teams tanked.

In terms of guarding people he’s exactly what we need and don’t give me Deuce who has repeatedly been torched and a non-factor on both ends last 2 playoffs. I won’t get into Deuce barely being able to handle the ball without collapsing to the floor.

Deuce gets more leniency on this squad than probably anyone except maybe Hart.

Smart is past his prime and shoots like a turd but he is a gamer who irritates opponents, takes charges and sometimes guards 1-5.

Look in mirror with drunk uncle commentary - nobody closer than you in that respect.

The "tank" excuse does not hold. Is that what we calling "untradable"?
We called. We did not get the guy but its not like he been functional. He was suppose to supplant and mentor Jah Morant while he was eitehr hurt or suspended. Memphis was not trying to tank.
Wizards? I can agree but he was not preventing them from winning. He if could play he would hae and..... could have been traded.
But yes, good enough for lakers and not for us. Look at the roster, where does he play and fit?
Sorry about the drunk uncle thing. Most it was for future whining not the present. I get how you read it was for you. Sorry, it was more generic oriented.

Im not drunk uncle. Im all about the context of the moment. You may call me other things and be accurate.
Im the geek nephew of drunk uncle. Always be annoying with the facts.

Just bring Delon Wright back! I've seen enough of him to know that he's a winning player. Pretty much ever championship team has a Delon type of player on the roster. What more does he have to do? Pretty much every time he got minutes, he delivered for us. That includes the time period that Brunson was injured and we kept things rolling without him. In the playoffs, when he got minutes, he mostly delivered, especially on the defensive end. I still believe we would have had an easier time with the Pistons if Thibs would have given him a damn chance. I also kind of like his fit next to Clarkson off the bench, he could mask a lot of his negatives when they play together.
VDesai @ 7/21/2025 9:44 AM
Gary Payton II or Delon Wright? Who is a better fit? I think both make sense. Shamet does as well for continuity.

Another way to think about it - 3 2-way spots, 1 vet min and a 1 rookie min.

Rookie min can be Nnaji or Diawara - Nnaji hasn't shown much of anything. I'd send him back to Europe. Diawara makes sense.

Veteran min - if we wanted to sign McCullar, Beauchamp or Watson to the roster we could do this and there would be a small amount of additional apron room I think, in case we want to waive someone for another vet earlier in the year. Otherwise could be a true vet like Shamet, Wright, etc.

2 ways- I think you definitely want Pate here. Then you have 2 spots for McCullar, Watson and Beauchamp. Beauchamp being a vet and a former first rounder - would he come back for this? I think its likely to be Pate, Watson and McCullar. Beauchamp probably leaves for a roster spot somewhere if he can get it.

Not sure what happens with Nnaji. I probably stash him a bit further. Love his wingspan. Might be worth putting him behind Mitch and Huk. Could see Boucher or Achiuwa coming back.

I kind of want to take flyers on Diawara and Dink. We have G League rights to McCullar. He might be more worthy of the roster spot than Dink, but I think Dink has much more upside and less injury risk.

Beauchamp's issue is his vet minimum. He may be the best Gleaguer we have, but like TJ Warren, he's not the best vet we can bring in for the vet minimum.

Chris Paul to the Clippers

I would think GP2 is more of a creator and more dynamic in terms of splash plays — just see him fitting in multiple line-ups and I like Wright just think better options out there this summer.

I don’t think Nnaji did anything to earn any type contract — heard someone else comment elsewhere with same thing I was seeing with Nnaji. Comment was “is Nnaji able to put his hands over his head?” —— kid made himself look so small on court - looked extremely RAW to me.

Average age like 34yo and maybe 50 games per

I mean old as hell but we'd take any of those guys as our 9th or 10th spot.

jskinny35 @ 7/22/2025 11:35 AM
If it were 2012 they could go all the way... without a time machine someone will break down and they look like a 2nd round playoff team at best
PassTheBall @ 7/22/2025 2:24 PM
They aren’t running anyone out the gym with their pace or speed. They can certainly win playoff games if healthy though.

Kind of reminds me of the Knicks 54 win squad.
