Knicks · Around the NBA 2024-25, let's do this!! (page 92)

I'd be fuming this morning I was a Wolves fan. Antman cannot play that passive! Especially when Randle is having one of those games where he can't seem to get going. Ju didn't even score in the second half. Give credit to the OKC defense but Antman needs to be as aggressive as possible. He wants to be MJ and Kobe and there is no way they play like that in a must win playoff game. Ant has a lot of room for improvement and growing up.

SGA is really REALLY good but the zebras give him a lot of love. Wished JB and KAT got that love.

But OKC can be beaten! Wolves took them to the limit with their two top guys shitting the bed. You cannot turn the ball over or allow a gazzilion offensive rebounds or you got no chance.

MaTT4281 @ 5/27/2025 8:31 AM
Yikes. I mean, we've seen Julius when he's feeling less than zen, but curtain is pulled back now. NY requires a certain kind of headspace, and despite his best efforts, Julius just didn't have it. Not meant as a slight towards him, just recognition. Minny is a good place for him

SergioNYK @ 5/27/2025 8:33 AM
Yeah, NYC is not for everyone.

Another reason why I love JB. He's built for it. As was Eli and Jeter. Those 3 are very similar if you look at it.

VDesai @ 5/27/2025 9:15 AM
The narrative that Julius is playing freer or looser, or unlocked something in his game by not being in NYC makes literally no sense. His career peak came in NYC, and he's literally been playing the same way now in MInnesota. People are revising Julius as some kind of dissapointment in NYC, except that wasn't the case. He was a triumph that overplayed expectations and established an all star level of player.

What he's doing in Minnesota is play in a pretty damn similar fashion...which also has some degree of maddening performance mixed in with the great stuff. There's no "new narrative." He's the same player in a different place. A really good player on a really good team that made it a bit further than the last team he was on - who didn't get to have him for the playoff run where he could have made the most impact during his time here.

Jesus that was a classic Julius flameout in biggest game of year last night.

1-7 and 0-3 —- 5 points and 5 TOs in 28 minutes plus benched most of 4th in neck & neck game to the wire.

Watching the game and I thought OKC’s ball pressure & double teams on the perimeter were elite. It was very difficult for Ant to even get inside the 3 point line and if he did there were bodies in front and bodies coming from behind. If he pulled up into a 3 they were also very tight. He was exceptional at squeezing thru traffic a few times but great pressure by OKC.

Watching all these playoffs and I think the best all around defender is Caruso.

Dort is GREAT same for Wallace and Holmgren length around the rim is ELITE but Caruso is both solid as **** and annoying as hell. Plus knocks down 3 and great timing on cuts for open layups.

He would have been a game changer for us —- replace Hart with Caruso and Knicks would be extremely tough.

OKC with the way Williams/Holmgren (both sub 24) playing and rest of elite defensive supporting cast is very scary long term.

Hoopshype is saying that D’Antoni and the Pelicans parted ways a month ago. I don’t want him back as a head coach. Doubt the FO would consider bringing him back as asst. But if MDA is really a free agent. It would be great to see the FO pay D’Antoni to work with Kolek for part of the summer.

Isaiah Hartenstein talks with @IanBegley
about the success of his former Knicks teammates in the playoffs:

"It’s funny when you see all three teams, I think for everyone it was a win-win. Then you see Obi (Toppin) with Indiana. I think it’s bittersweet for everybody.

I think we got unlucky that (OG Anunoby) got hurt. I think we had a chance last year if we had the same team … don’t want to live in the hypothetical but I felt like when we were all together, we were a really good team."

His feelings on Knicks fans after his departure in free agency: "I get a little bit (of hate), but I still love them."

I’ll add that it took just 3 weeks with Hakeem at one of his summer clinics for Amar’e to develop a legit post game.

Not for nothing but bringing in MDA for the offense may be a gold level move.

Looks like the market for Durant is being pumped up. Minny, Spurs, Houston in the least.

Would they get along though? Two stubborn guys lol. If they could make it work, it would be a gold medal move. Wouldn't mind the FO talking to Thibs and MDA about it.

Maybe you can broker a "summit" this summer? Im sure 74 year old MDA really could use something to do.
Hey, would you "mind" if maybe Nash is open to some consulting?
Perhaps JB might be interested as well.
How did that "Dream Shake" thing work for Amare btw? Also Javale Mcgee trained with him. How that work out?

While not to discount MDA effect on Nash's career, lets not forget he was a two time Allstar with Dallas before heading to PHX as a free agent at age 30. Im not down on Kolek but maybe there are others that can open up his game a bit also? Bob Cousy is still alive and kicking at age 96!
Would you "mind" if he gave some pointers to him?
what about Clyde? Kolek could use some wardrobe fashion sense?

What a passive aggressive freak show Naldo. Considering how little time the 29 year old Amar’e spent with Hakeem, it worked out great. He developed a back to the basket spin move that let him work in the paint. It wasn’t meant to fill all the gaps in the roster.

You seem to have a problem with Kolek getting any pointers from anyone but the Knicks. LeBron wasn’t too good to see Hakeem. Kobe, and other superstars. All about mentoring the younger generation.

Speaking of Steve Nash, there is a clip on YouTube somewhere , where Nash speaks to the importance of NBA players entering the league having mentors. If there is someone out there who can help Kolek or any other Knick take their game to the next level, and the FO thinks it will help. Of course I want to see it happen. Wether they are on the team or not.
