Put your thinking caps on, folks; crazier things have happened. I miss the Big Ragu already.
Maybe we could parlay Mitchell Robinson to a third team to absorb his salary and then send Tyler Kolek, Pacome Dadiet (to keep Gobert company) and that WAS pick to the Wolves. Would be willing to include the gauranteed contracts of Landry Shamet and/or Cam Payne in the deal if the Wolves need stopgaps, lol. Let's get the deal done at the deadline!
The old double dipping of the Big Ragu move, classic.
Hope Dadiet pops maybe in year 3 and can be used in a deal to acquire him back. Although seems like maybe there’s some tension that would have to work itself out. Donte doesn’t seem thrilled about the trade and takes it very personal.
Wolves were outbid by the Knicks the last time. There was an article which suggested that Donte was the main target of the trade. Maybe in part because of how much Randle will ask to re-up.
No way Wolves have any interest in a do-over. None.
Doesn't seem like Donte would want to play for Thibs again

I mean lets just gloss over the most obvious... why would he want to come back here? He's gone and not coming back

Not right now but i can totally see him coming back in a few years if the roster need and the opportunity is right for both parties. He said that last year was the best year of his life. The chemistry was off the charts.
Move on. He is a not a knick. Mikal is here now as is Towns.
Thibs is not a fan. He and Leon are not fanboys of their players. There job is to bring the best team they can.
Nobody knows the future and if it pans out or not.
DDV had good moments. Important game situations and he delivered. So did others. DDV was great!
In 10 years or so, Dolan will bring hom back and he can sit next to Melo, Starks and Spree in the expensive seats waving a towel...
We can sign him in 3 years when he’s UFA

OP said to put your thinking caps on and you came up with this?
clearly your not Brock Aller.
Reading body language and some interviews in the past, Divo feels he can be next level.
So do I.
No reason he cannot take the jump that JB took when given the ball.
The New York ego is big in fans. But why would Divo want to come back here?
He is surrounded by really good players. AE will be the face of the NBA. He is one of the best players right now at 23.
You have Rudy who is defensive player of the year.
They have young pieces and experienced vets.
He seemed pretty happy last night.
It was obvious to all that this is now JB’s team.
Guys like Divo and Randle may not have been ready to bow down to JB.
AE may have already proven he is worthy though.
Wish them both luck.
Except when they play us !!!
New year , new team, same Knick pride.

Let him go to Minnesota and be the next Kobe. I will hold my breath.

Yes our season hinges on trading for a disgruntled backup SF who wants to get into a fistfight with our best player’s father. Awesome point as always
I've said repeatedly that I miss DDV.
It's really weird how effective he was here in his one year last year, and unfortunately, this year he's been a disappointment in Minny.
In these playoffs, he's been shooting pretty dog-shit. 35% FG, 20% 3pt. Pretty awful.
So, the question again is: would he have continued to play well here with his buddies? Or is something else going on with him?
I might have to eat some serious crow, if this ends up being who he is.
Of course, our $40M man not shooting much better in the playoffs: 38% FG, 26% 3pt. Bridges is mediocre at: 42% FG, 32% 3pt.

Good points and that's a legit question right there. Only thing I can add is that OG and Bridges can guard the best player on any team. Donte is not even in the same solar system
Donte will be a FA the summer of 2027. He’ll be 30 years old. The answer to the question is patience

We had peak DDV. Congruence of his health, security of his contract, and perhaps his personal life all matter. He started slow with us and due to Grimes not stepping up became legend. Maybe it does not repeat under the Thibian way. Maybe we got the best of him. This is a dude that has now on his 5th team.
Both teams up 3-1 and its 4 games. Short sample.
No doubt we have forgotten any mediocre DDV and inflated what we love about DDV. He was a great value and maybe our FO has others that could fill our hearts going forward. Randle is playing really good defense in this series and we all miss him too.
Kat has his moment and Bridges had some key buckets and defense yesterday. Lets see how this all plays out before we go into the offseason.
His ego was badly hurt, doubt he wants any part of returning.
I'm a sucker, but I think he'd come back. Realistically though, real tough to make a trade with Minnesota - both teams need to send out more salary than we receive and DDV on a very reasonable contract. Don't see Minnesota incentivized to take back prospects and picks if they keep winning.
Would come down a big, multi team trade with the main cogs coming from other teams (unless Ant demands a trade...). Knicks would just have to be opportunistic, don't think they can initiate this.
Who knows, maybe wishes do come true.
