What’s interesting is that Dadiet is probably the best fit skillset wise. Unfortunately he’s not ready for that role yet.

I think Dadiet is ready for “A” role though. Why can’t he be 9th man? Plenty of contenders near the aprons work rookies into the rotation. I think it’s overstated that no way Dadiet can play this year just because we trying to win a chip.

I don’t think Thibs changes anything though. Everyone shot poorly yesterday. He probably feels that will come back to the mean and starters will be fine and he’s probably right. But it’s gonna take a little time for these guys to gel regardless. Just reality of a seismic offseason like we had.

Bad shooting night for sure. They are cold cold cold from 3 right now

Oh no, he is definitely ready for a role for sure, but he has a ways to go before becoming starter ready, especially in terms of understanding defensive schemes. He had a couple of lapses on that end that lead to an easy bucket for the Wizards. However, I don’t think his issue was anything too concerning, just needs more experience. I wouldn’t even mind giving him some reps in Westchester like we did with Deuce.

I'm concerned at having a starting 6'5" starting power forward, that is gonna come back to hurt us.
Alpha1971 @ 10/19/2024 10:03 AM
Not a overly technical basketball fan, but why would Bridges, a career very good 3 pt shooter, tinker with his shooting form this off season ? I'm baseball I know hitters tinker with their batting stances sometimes, is that a fair analogy ?
SergioNYK @ 10/19/2024 10:56 AM
Surprised Thibs went with the starters. I read Precious and Hart got dinged up but doesn't look too serious. Kolek plays like a vet. Dadiet also doesn't look overwhelmed and has a nice jumper. Brunson looks ready.

Hope the guys spend some time in the gym working on that 3pt shot cause we only shot 30% as a team in preseason and that isn't gonna cut it.

martin @ 10/19/2024 11:45 AM
I’m more worried about Precious, thought he could or would be a key contributor cause of his versatility and Knicks lack of big men depth at 4/5 positions and/or starter/bench.
Alpha1971 @ 10/19/2024 11:52 AM
I'm so pleasantly surprised with Pacome. Thibs played him along with Cam, OG, Brunson, and Kat I think.
And he played well. Perhaps he gets some burn until Shamet returns.
VDesai @ 10/19/2024 12:44 PM
Pacome looks way more ready than we would have guessed, but had two major lapses at the end of last nights game. Kolek hit him uncovered in the final 2 minutes and he blew an uncontested floater in the lane. He was also the primary person for Kolek to throw too on the in bounds but he faded to a bad angle which meant Kolek needed to dump it to Hukporti, who has no ability to beat a press at the 3pt elbow.

Still if that 9th man role is an 8-10 min a night role, that might be Pacome's for the taking, or he can keep it warm with Shamet waiting in the wings.

Kolek looked like Brunson at the end of the game. Oh we need a bucket? Let me go get it.

Im sure the Knicks possibly asked him to shorten that motion. I'm not gonna worry too much, he is a vet and he helps in other ways. Shooters have off nights. People forget the nights Donte would shoot 4/18 from 3 - the best part about him is he never lost the confidence to put them up.

BigDaddyG @ 10/19/2024 2:44 PM
Every release point looks different. Also, the energy transfer from his legs to his shot looks all over the place.
martin @ 10/19/2024 4:05 PM
The only obvious conclusion

KEEPCAMBYNY @ 10/19/2024 4:20 PM
Am I the only one that felt that this was a good loss? It was one where the young guys got a chance to get some good key experience. It gives them some video tape that they can learn from with the coaches and make adjustments. Kolek and Dadiet will have a chance to learn from their mistake at the end of the game and hopefully do better when the real games start.

OMG, we already benching Mikal? We gonna freak out if this team starts off 7-6?
"Thibs on the hot seat", after an extension? LOL
No, this guy gets plenty of time to work this team thru. How long? 82 games, and playoffs. I know its all about chips, and that should always be the goal, but if healthy conf finals should be a fair expectation.
Some of y'all can call for his head if this happens. Thibs has earned the trust from his FO and most fans.

It's NYC. You're going to see fans and media call for firings and trades if we don't win on Tuesday. Some fans enjoy and live for the drama and losing imo.

Knicks will be lucky to go 500 first 20 games. That's fine, team will then pick up steam when team gets more chemistry and we get Prescious back. Also we sign a vet who comes into the rotation and when Mitch returns team will see another boost. Might all be a blessing in disguise, team will have given players like Dadiet Kollack, Hukporti, some time, in case needed for the playoffs

It's rare to see these things work out right off the bat. Last year after the Harden trade the Clips were TERRIBLE and then became one of the best teams in the league at full health. I think even the Miami superfriends started 1/4 of their first season hovering around .500.

The rare times I've seen super trades work out immediately were Boston big 3 and Gasol to the Lakers. Those were just seamless right out the gate. I expect it to be a little rocky for us short term. I think we can take Boston game 1 without KP though.

Boston was so good I think because their D was hot right away.

Have to expect some clunky looking nights for us. I do expect good defense tho... especially late in games. We are banged up but come in with healthy OG/Bridges/Josh/McBride and physically Brunson/KAT look good. That's a lot to deal with and when those guys are looking good and playing nobody will notice Sims/Huk not being very good etc
