I like it better when we're underdogs and overachieving. With all of the roster turnover, we're really back to square one in the continuity department. I like our odds if we make it to the playoffs. I'd be happy with the 4-5-6 seed. I'm going to have to go 47 wins even though I think our ceiling could be 57 wins.
ESPN (notorious Knick haters) have us 3rd in the league as well as Vegas. The talent is real. It's a top shelf coaching staff with a proven HC and has the trust of his star players. This is by far the most established group of players and most complete roster Thibs has had to start a season. Pretty wild IMO
ESPN on the Knicks:
Shams - Knicks are actively working the marketplace right now. They have to add bodies in the next 2 weeks
Shannon Sharp - They already looking around? Y'all just left the grocery store and you're calling door dash to get something else? Y'all in trouble.
ESPN on Knicks... they are 3rd best team in the league.

Sharp was just busting Stephan A's ballz, ESPN is trash
ESPN is not the final word. reality is.
ESPN was "notorious knick haters" but lets be real, was there cause for it? Dysfunctional ownership/FO? Constant coaching changing due to ignorant hires?
Starphuching with empty results? Once Knicks took off post the OG trade there has been a lot of love from ESPN and other outlets!
WE all know its also formulaic to have differing opinions on talk radio/tv. Its boring if they all agree on things.
Knicks broadcast with Doris last week vs Minny and she was fawning all over the team. Was that always so? No, her job is to report on the game and what's been going on. Knicks get blown out on National tv, she is not talking love. Any national game announcer has to talk about WTF is happening and if its not good its not pretty. We call that Hate?
Losing installs doubt. Winning changes it. Leon had to prove a lot to the fans. WE that different than ESPN? Even last year "Thibs was on the hot seat". In retrospect that was "hate" if you agreed with it. Team turns around and all is forgotten? For fans here it it. For media, nope, "They hated us, fuck them". Thats how it works. Double standard.
Barkley, Smith and Shaq? They TBS and their views are OPINONS and they have to have one. They changed their tune once we started winning.
Brunson has defied a lot of logic from the moment he signed on. "Small guards don't lead teams to chips". That was a big "Hate" from last year.
I forgot who said it. historically its correct. Only players since they started doing Playoff MVP's in 1969 under 6-4 are Isiah Thomas and Jo Jo White.
DWade and Tony Parker are 6-4. everyone else is taller.
Brunson is 6-1 or 6-2. He was top 5 MVP voting and yes, he defied most logic. He played his ass off then broke his hand. True to the comment if you think about it. It was not hate, it was historical. Yes, Brunson could defy the statement and be that small guard that is the best player on the team and win a chip! I'd love it!!!!
Same for any other team that is is predicted to do well. PHX is right there as well. "But the last few years........." Yep, the last few years they have been breaking. Thats in part because they have not filled in the role players/bench. That takes time and its why big trade don't always yield short term results. We might be there as we speak. Thats not hate. Its historical precedence and its been discussed since we did our trades this summer. If our bench proves otherwise, we are golden! if two of Kolek, Dadiet,, or huh can crack the rotation. thats a huge plus!
If our season hinged on Landry Shamet saving us we were fucked anyway!
I'd say 46 wins and finish 4th in the conference. I'm expecting injuries to OG, Town plus a few here and there from other players. Plus, we're gonna need time to find some chemistry and get back our injured players.
My only wish is that we are healthy come playoffs time.
maybe one must think about if we don't get towns.
Randle in a contract year
Mitch is still out.
DDV is off the bench. Like he is in Minny. BTW.
Continuity would have been a bit easier but this squad has a higher ceiling. iHart left. That was a surprise. Hate Leon for not resigning him earlier? Maybe.
Hate him for signing iHart to begin with? Hate him for iHart over playing his contract big time.
BTW, Lakers went right after Randle for his defense. To be fair, he had not played but one preseason game. He gets a pass.
DDV did not shoot well. He gets a first game jitters pass. If one recalls, his first 5 games last season was not pretty bad. He eventually got it together and took Grimes job.
Boston returned 13 players. Their full rotation and core is back and healthy. We have three new starters. Josh is new to this lineup. Not sure how many minutes he and OG logged in last year due to injury and rotations. Exuses? Nope, just reasons.
No guarantee this will work. Nobody said this out of the gate would be a cake walk. If one was excited about the season now tempered by one game then ride that bi=polar coaster.
Y'all did see we played the Wiz twice, and CLT twice. We got Minny without two of its starters (Conley and Randle). It was a decent test and we pulled it out, but both teams pulled its starters for the 4th.
Logic says it was not going to be smooth, but "We Gone" is a bit premature. If fans only reference is knicks then recall the 1999 team. That was no cinderella story, that was a strike short season and we had very high hopes. We got the last seed at the 8 spot and needed a great H20 To save the day and made a run to the finals. We had JVG who was not the right coach for that team who got a 2mm extension clause for two years if they reached finals. It kicked in. Otherwise he was getting fired. That was 25 years ago but many just remember it not as a stacked team underachieving. But a sort of mighty ducks underdog thing. This was Dolan at his worst BTW. He hires neophyte Layden and instructs him to starphuch. IT was the start of a bad era. We are not there.
