Ouch
Brush it off. Celts were pumped and wanted and got a statement win
It sucks. We need to put it behind us
Gotta brush it off. We looked fine on offense. We thought we had elite perimeter defense to neutralize the 5 out. We didnt show that tonight. They wanted to show us who's boss and guess what, they are the boss. NBA champs for a reason
Im gonna rant here a little. KAT you aint in minnie no more. You come to DA MECCA our fans will gut you inside out. First game mind you, but you were the tallest guy on the floor and your being guarded by a guy 7INCHES SMALLER THAN YOU! Bridges, you aint in the swamp no more, because we gave up our whole future for you and KAT, I swear our fans will ride your azzes every freaking nite to squeeze every last ounce of your energy for your NY KNICKS FANS. END OF RANT
Honestly, not mad. It’s gonna take awhile for this team to gel and get comfortable. It would have been very unusual if they just crushed from the beginning. Also the C’s live or die from 3 tonight they just couldn’t miss… I don’t care if you have 5 superstars if your opponent hits 29 threes your going to loose . Boston shot 58 threes lol that’s crazy. Even 48 is crazy. I thought they did a very poor job getting them off the line and forcing them to take it inside.
Extreme thought I like McBride at the 2 in the starting unit … McBride is an unreal defender. his elite defense and shooting would complement bridges and og. Teams are gonna cheat with Josh out there he’s never been a marksman . We are gonna miss Devo .
First game with a brand new unit vs defending champs … that’s a tough start. Will look forward to getting revenge later in the year when we are firing on all cylinders.
29 threes is insane .
Randle is playing matador D, looks afraid to take the contact at the basket. Seems to be fitting nicely on offense. Not scoring but assisting and rebounding.
DiVincenzo just throws it into the 6th row on a layup. Lakers rolling, Minny struggling down by 19
Bunch of whiney soft fans.
No credit to what the Celtics did? They shot the shit out of the ball. Im not saying knicks went toe to toe, but Tatum is a superstar and played like one.
We did not lose this game, Boston played a great one. They the champs. They do that every night they will not lose. They won't.
They are not scared of us, or anyone tonite,
I shut it off half way thru the 3rd. Boston hit like 50% of three's fun first half? WTF, you can't beat that kind of shooting. With it comes long rebounds.
Josh Harts shot? He squares up a bit more now, but still fades back. Looking forward to Clutch Josh returning.
Look at you guys damning the season already! Wow, spend all getting horny about he season and opening night you run away.
It sucked, Can't blame ESPN or media. They did not shoot the ball, Celtics did!!!
Knicks panicked. Maybe over did it. They too have expectations and shit the bed tonite.
Celtics came out and just nailed it in the first qtr! Thibs will get this corrected. How long will it take?
As long as it takes! Relax dudes. Nobody said this was easy.
My take away, after the 1st period they only lost by 7. That was a hell of a 1st period for the Celtics.

I had suggested starting McBride in a previous thread. He would give the Knicks 5 shooters on court at the same time. Would even consider starting Precious when he’s back.
Hart coming off the bench is the way to go. He gives that spark in so many facets.
Let Payne be the score coming off the bench.
Pg: Brunson, Kolek
Sg: McBride,Payne
Sf: Bridges, Hart
Pf: OG, Precious
C: KAT, Hukporti
KAT should buy everyone Kindles for the plane ride home.

The problem wasn’t the shooting tonight it was the asinine lack of perimeter D. Bridges and OG need to step up
Damn people, it’s like you’ve never heard a story or seen a movie about a team becoming champions by overcoming challenge after challenge.
We were never supposed to go to Boston and beat their behinds on Day 1! We have a LONG way to go so if you can’t handle the pressure because you have somehow forgot how you survived the Dark Ages, I don’t know what to tell you.
Funny for those of you still crying for Divo and Randle because that will be your song and it’s so disingenuous. For the first time in what feels like a lifetime, the Knicks are playing with adult pieces, with the kind of players that once you figure it out you can really dream of a championship. Not just hoping, the main pieces are actually here.
Now, where they supposed to jell from Day 1? Only on PS5. This team had a significant makeover, with lots of pieces that are still just learning the Thibs way, while he also adapts to the most offensively powerful team he has probably ever had. Some players are lost while others are green. But the talent is not in question.
Buckle up! The lift-off will really get bumpy. This team is so far away from where they can be to close out the season. But the potential is there. It really is.
We definitely have many problems to figure out. I’m not sugarcoating this game or the possible rough start coming up. But if you can’t see that us starting with a lot to figure out is actually part of the plan, then tune back in a few months, but you’ll miss part of the fun.

All good points. At the same time we didnt expect a team built on defense to tie the worst defensive performance against the 3 in NBA history. Both things can be true.
Want to see Brunson go back to being an MVP finalist, a good mix of passing and scoring. He has to lead the way. Much better ball movement all around.
Much better 3pt D of course, much better offensive rebounding, with or without Mitch. The rest will follow.
This might be similar to Dallas last year who struggled to figure out a championship formula around Kyrie and Luka. Eventually it clicked but it was very rocky for awhile. They also needed to make a couple small moves around the margins. We might have to do that too. Or just get Mitch/Precious back and find an answer to backup wing which could be Dadiet.
A couple noteworthy things were KAT subbing out early and playing with bench unit (not Bridges). This works better with Precious or Mitch than Sims who is just awful. Everything seemed to go downhill fast once he subbed in the 1st quarter. And Dadiet winning the 9th man role which is pretty awesome.
Now that I had time to think on somethings, I noticed Thibs was completely not ready for teams to treat Hart as the center. He needs to fix this now. He needs misdirection plays designed to get Kat deep position with a postup everytime teams go small on him. You need to punish them like a good shooting team team punishes a zone to stop them from doing it. If you want to draw something up to get Hart an advantage on the center that can work to. This game showed us some weak areas that we need to sure up.

could this go down as one of the wort trades in franchise history?

Trade value aside Bridges bounced back and started drilling shots. That eased my worry about his shot being totally broken.
Bridges needs to be in the RJ role. He needs to find spots to iso and create points. We got him to be that secondary creator on the perimeter and it’s a critical role.
Backup C is a problem especially if KAT is subbing out with 6 mins left and Sims will play against opposing starting units.
We never contest 3 point shooters well under Thibs but we always dominated the boards and guarded the rim. If we aren’t gonna do the latter with this team we need to guard the 3 at an elite level. That’s the biggest worry right now.
The bigger issue with Bridges last night is how he guarded Tatum and the weird switching he did. Tatum did anything he wanted.
Just 1 game out of 1st place in the East!
