Knicks · Before We can sit back and enjoy our team and players they are gone (page 1)

Last year in a long time I really enjoyed watching the Knicks play. I knew all of the players names and they played hard every game. I think we pushed the cart before the horse. I've seen players we really enjoyed. Now they are gone and the other teams seem to get the better deal. When I saw the knicks play boston our 5 starters looked bad and that can happen. But looking at Boston they looked bigger and better physical shape than us. Now we will have to learn everything all over again and probably by the end of the season we will be moving some players around again. That is not how you win a championship. Sure Bridges looked good on a bad team last year and so did Kat but our defense will not be the same. If we think we are going to beat Boston we have a lot of work to do.

how does losing DDV and Randle hurt our defense?

Ohhhhhhh... boooooo hoooooooooo.

No really, boo hoo. I'm crying with you.

Maybe the current team will evolve into something different than what we saw a few nights ago. That was hard to watch, and pretty much what I was fearing for weeks.

I'll give it a couple more weeks before switch to... hockey?

Look, I feel you man. It's tough as I really really enjoyed that style we had. Those shooting nights from DDV, those Randle crazy numbers. But hear me out. That isn't how the Finals are won. It was nice, totally Knicks style, however it's not what the NBA is about these days. Will we win it all with this team? Not sure. But it's our best chance. OG and Bridges defending AND being able to score. Two way . Brunson doing just enough on D to funnel those drives towards help. And scoring, Two way. More so on offense but he is a top charge taker in the NBA. Trust me, you will see that from him in the playoffs. KAT is two way also. He tries on d more than Randle ever has. Just give it time. We have the ingredients, just need a straw. And time for the drink to settle

I wasnt against trading Randle, even DDV, if the price was right. I just wanted to see that the best we could do for Randle, DDV, and 5 first round picks was KAT and Bridges. 5 FRPs is what teams usually give up for a superstar.

They're both good players, I just wonder if we continued that long Knicks tradition of bidding against ourselves.

This FO had been great at finding value players like Brunson, iHart, DDV. We're going to see how they do with the swing for the fences trades. Hope it works out. Do know its going to take time to see if it will pay dividends.

Do we feel better AFTER tonights game?

I do not hold the Pacers in high regard.

A loss would have truly sucked though.

The Gotham Sports app on my android TV stopped working in the second quarter.

I thought it might be the basketball gods saving me from watching Hart snap his hammy in half.

That when they started their 30 point push!

Reverse jinx. I’m starting to see a pattern here 🤔

Celtics went through this same process by trading Smart, the heart and soul and fan favorite for years, for Porzingis. An oft injured jump shooting big. They went from a “tough” team to a finesse team and it won them a championship. Tough teams are fun but the teams that win in this NBA are the best shooting teams. Just reality. We traded some endearment of style for a better chance at a chip. Randle/Mitch frontline isn’t winning a championship because they can’t shoot.

Papa, give it time.

Folks lamenting Donte - I get but Julius was fools gold.

Was thinking after first 2 games (including Boston debacle) how nice it is to watch Kat play in our system unselfishly and more importantly with high skill level, quickly & intelligently. He just fits and he is far superior defensive presence to whatever it was Julius did here for years.

Julius is in a great spot in Minny next to Ant with a rim protector behind him and other nice role players around him.

Knicks stole that trade as a fit for this roster and now they have next 2 - 3 years to fine tune the roster.

And then there's the anomaly of contract year Randle who is shooting 62.8% from the field and 53.8% from three for the season with Minny

I'm just assuming like is very isolated in the colder parts of Minny and Randle thought it was COVID years again and is going to get unconscious again!
