Mikal is unlikely to ever lose his starting spot, but I would love to see deuce play more with the other 4 starters, and mikal sort of lead the bench units for stretches and get his confidence up offensively.

The whole screen navigation has been on my mind all year --- particularly in relation to Bridges. While guys like Deuce, Hart and OG are all pretty stellar at slashing hard over screens I haven't seen that with Mikal. Has lead me to wonder how has he been asked to defend screens thru out his career.
If you think about it Mikal's best attribute is his length (more so than his lateral quickness it's his go-go gadget arm length that stands out in his physical profile.
Now with Thibs it is almost 100% we go over the top of ball screens where the big hedges partially until our ball defender gets over the screen and defends (usually) from behind.
Guess I'm thinking - with Mikal wouldn't the best use of his physical profile be to use his length to contest shots be allowing him to go thru or under beyond the 3 point line screens. This would allow him to contain penetration, keep the ball handler in front of him and induce more contested 3s.
Right now we keep running him over screens, he's dying there and he's not doing much contesting from behind as guys get to the mid range all day. Now maybe the whole objective is to force guys to the mid-range but guys like T young, Tatum, Haliburton, Garland eat it up in the paint.

19 games in and Freak out? Even suggest any trade scenarios is just complete amateur hour for even the most casual fan regarding Bridges.
Deuce has one good game back and we all about moving shit around? Deuce has knee issue. Consider it. "OK Nalod, then you fix it"......... I can't. I don't even know what's wrong. Fans fix symptoms. Coaches fix causes. Benching Mikal "Until he comes around" seems counter productive unless he is in some fog or having personal issues and can't concentrate.
We are 5,5 games from Clev, and 4th in the conference. About were we should be. I figured either indy or Orlando might be the "it" team and jump us. 19 games in, and we have like 6 of next 7 at home with some ease teams?
December? Stay healthy and take advantage of easy part of schedule and maybe get some distance would be great. This is were we integrate Precious a bit and perhaps TJ warren if Ryan does not get his ass in gear. If Thibs puts you in the rotation he wants them to stay in the rotation! TJ/Ryan in the Bojan roll from last year? 15-18 good min and get some points! Precious might look awful for a while. Look for Thibs to sit him if he does. He'll get his timing down in practice and some game time. Thibs won't let him flounder on the court much. Thats not his way. He'll get it going!
What bothered me about bridges was that midrange shot is not falling. Like OG, perhaps its lift? Tell me what I don't know perhaps for why we are looking a bit fatigued after going 3-2 on a road trip. A winning road trip. Not a freak out.
Remember the Bucks we were laughing at? Yeah, here they come. 6 in a row. Maybe not dead yet. Im not laughing at Philly. That sandbank make playin and get healthy act is no joke if they can do that. Raptors? Is that schedule right we have 3 straight games against them? Then another 2 weeks later?
This is the NBA, teams get healthy and teams get injured. Bad teams can turn things around and not be a bad team for a stretch. Visa versa.
I digress, Knicks got to a point where OG was killing it without the ball and finding his stride. Before that, Brunson had to balance his game with KAT. Seems to be working pretty good now. We had Deuce out 5 games. He working back int. Mikal has not been a total disaster, he found his shot for a while and was doing good. Seems Thibs is evolving from simpler schematics and adding layers which can cross up a player.
Knicks are pretty much were I expected them.

I never posted about him in this thread because its way too early to freak out but lets not start talking about ending this thread or gloating because he did well against another depleted team. This is what should have happened vs Char. Show me this vs the Magic during out cup game then we can talk. Step one should always be look how well he did followed by level of looking at the level competition he did it against.

Hitting or missing open 3s should be the same against all opponents. For me, it’s about the stroke.

The form/shot looked pure tonight....his confidence seemed to be the biggest hurdle last couple of games. Looked lethargic, like he was over thinking againstt the Mavs and Hornets. Tonight, instead of thinking, he was reacting and just playing ball. No hesitation on his shot, played with energy and confidence....
Like the Heat game was for Towns when he dropped 44, hopefully this is the game that gets Mikal going...

There were 2 wing 3's where Mikal's arc on the shot was significantly higher vs what we've seen to date - both went in.
Hopefully he's found something but still weird he sees the foul line as often as Feb 29th hits the calendar.

Defensive schemes and defensive breakdowns caused by players who don't normally get big minutes should be accounted for. Just like how everyone hits them against us because of Thibs defensive scheme the Pels are second worse in the NBA for a reason. Like I said, hit his open shots vs good teams and we good. If all open shots are the same that should not be a problem right?
GustavBahler@ 12/1/2024 9:14 PM
Playoffs are where the rubber meets the road. Glad Bridges had a solid game, but my real concern is if leading the league in minutes is going to have consequences in the post-season.

Baby steps. For now, just looking to see some confidence in his open looks.
Nalod@ 12/1/2024 11:19 PM
Winning is good no matter how! Pels still had some good players but they were awful. Murry and McCollum? Trey Murph? I know they far from full. But those two did not help. Knicks have had stinkers on the road a few years back and when its bad, its bad. Good tune up game with Orlando up next who is playing really well without Bancharo.

Meanwhile DDV is shooting 30% this year lol
Yeah but if he was here with all that chemistry he’d be shooting 70%

He was getting deflections last night which is a big deal. And he hit his corner 3s.

31 points yesterday for bridges. Our other “soft” offseason addition Towns had 14 and 19 in 25 minutes in a blowout win.
DLeethal@ 12/2/2024 9:39 AM
I've mentioned before with Bridges when he would shoot even when wide open he would almost intentionally get himself off balance and lean or fade or kick his feet. Just way too herky jerky. Any shooter knows you will miss when you are doing that stuff unless you are Steph. I thought yesterday he looked like he was trying to set and keep his body in line when he would pull up. Shot looked much better yesterday.

This will be the measuring stick. These guys lost their best player and have not lost a step.
Maybe they lost their second best player after all

Be great if it it's as simple as him doing that cause that can be repeated.
