Sighs, the defense is still troubling but the bench is just how it is with Thibs. With back to back games, you’d think minutes distribution would be carefully dealt with, but no. I love this stretch and this streak, but we all know how important rest is when taking care of these players. Even today they seemed to have no legs on their 3s.I just don’t understand how all of a sudden, Payne is a 6 minutes guy and Sims is vanished. Yes, Sims made many mistakes, but had good stretches too. At least do the classic and give him time until he makes the first mistake, but not even that. And Payne, unless he has any health issue, it makes no sense not to play him a bit more.
I know we have a strong starting lineup and that is awesome, but you see the best teams distributing minutes well, developing a bench that can really support them in this long season. We might not have the best bench, but we do have pieces to move around so we don’t have to give the starters 40+, yet we continue to do so. I even think that the defensive issues today were more about fatigue.
But it will be rinse and repeat. Hope it keeps working out.
The defense has been much improved and really good for awhile now, last night not withstanding.
are we sure about that? Please take a look at who we played in december. We have not played any of the top off teams in december. Actually our strength of shedule has been low and its even lower when you include injured teams. Fans always ignore strength of the opponents when stating stats like these. Until our defense shows it can stop top offensive teams or good young athletic teams I am not drinking the cool-aid. Our offense proved itself so I am good with that going forward but to say we have good defense now is premature to say the least.
There are legitimately only a handful of teams that are really better or at same level of Knicks, I’m going off of record: Cavs, OKC, Boston, Grizz, Houston, Mavs.
Next group down is probably Lakers, Clips, Magic, Nuggets, Bucks, Hawks, TWolves, Spurs, GSW, Suns, Pacers.
Luckily for Knicks, the 3 players that haven’t played with Knicks most are Shamet, Precious, and Mitch. The 2 bigs getting into shape portends well for Knicks. Plus just familiarity and the nature of Thibs defenses will kick in.
I’m looking forward to seeing how much Precious and the hopefully Mitch impact things.
Please read what I said those tweets don't address what I said. I said top offenses in the month of december. These stats are from NBA.com Don't know if they updated for last nights games yet. The best team we played on the list was the Magic 3 times and they were injured and got more injured the later we played them. The next highest was the Hawks at 11. most of our games came vs teams 20th and below and a ton of those teams has major stars injured. So to come away from December saying our defense is good is premature like I said. It has not been tested like it was in Nov. Twitter is weird have to click the images to see the full pictures of the lists.
