I’m not sure Brunson sees this as an opportunity to attack, which would require him to let go of the ball. Or at least, he seems to want to attack with the dribble.

Last year Hartenstein was his key outlet. A big target and a guy who could make the 2nd pass. He also could set clean screens without fouling too much. We lack that kind of help for Brunson this year and it continues to be a struggle every night. We are not getting consistent easy baskets out of these early doublea.

There are only 5 teams in the NBA with less than 16 losses.
The Knicks ain't one of them.

I blame Sydney Sweeney! I mean who can concentrate and play a game when that angel is sitting courtside?
Ugly game that honestly did give me a migraine but a win is a win. We are so blessed to have Brunson cause he saved our asses from an embarrassing loss. Give the Nets credit they played hard and gave us a good scare. But Brunson hit all the clutch shots and we escaped with a win and now we're one of four teams with 29 wins.
I'm concerned about KAT. That thumb is effecting his shot. 1/9 from three since that injury and we know he's an elite shooter. Hoping it's something he learns to adjusts to and I'd really consider having him sit out that lame All-Star game and rest up.
So glad Thibs called out the officiating in the post game cause it's so unfair how Brunson and KAT don't get calls! They both drive and get hit almost every damn time and they rarely call a foul! Just last night alone they each had just FT attempts which is ridiculous! Nets had 25 as team to our 14 too and you cannot say the Nets took it to the basket more! It's such BS!
No game until Saturday so got to rest up!
The passing at times is a beautiful thing. Really this team is still working on getting it together.
Nets come at you long and lean but their talent was not match.
Jordi doing a very good job in the tank. They play hard and played good defense when Knicks went cold. Could not buy a bucket!
Why do fans come out to see their team? Same reason we watched in the lean years and there were plenty of them!!!

Think he’s a better fit at PF. What I’m hoping to see is Mitch and Precious subbing in at the same time, and seeing how they do as a tandem. Would be nice for Thibs to have the option/luxury of being able to rest both KAT and JB at the same time, early in the game.
Speaking of subs, is it me or was this first game in a while where Thibs brought in three players off the bench at the same time? Cam/Shamet/Precious in the first quarter. Normally I see one, maybe two players.

Do you really think Thibs or any coach in this modern times of basketball would really deploy Mitch and Precious and sit our 2 offensive stars at same time unless it's a singular defensive possession? Just don't think that's a doable combo unless Precious becomes stout at the left corner 3.
I'm trying to imagine a rotation with Mitch, Precious and KAT and what combos realistically fit. And I'm not coming up with much and the easiest solution seems to move Mitch and use Huk as the 3rd string C.

Absolutely, I see teams rest the stars at the same time, early in the game. Sometimes coaches decide to stagger their minutes when the chemistry isn’t there. Bridges, OG, Precious, can all get buckets. and Mitch is a lob threat as well. Cam can get hot from 3.
As I said it’s about having that option because Mitch and Precious can handle the load. That’s what I’d like to find out. Mitch and Precious might turn out to be a great tandem, like to see Thibs give it a try.

I get the rest and stagger thing, but that's why it's one or the other of Brunson/KAT to make sure you can actually score, and that it makes sense. Of course OG, Mikal, Hart and whomever can score and all get buckets. But can the offense run and make sense is more the issue. Right now, the Knicks don't really have good enough cohesion to overcome the offensive deficiencies that Mitch, Precious would introduce? How do you create an offensive advantage of just packing the paint and sticking on the 1 or 2 shooters? And how does that team break a zone when you don't have to guard 2 bigs?
Coaches just don't try stuff in the way you are suggesting; they coach to make sure the offense and defense make sense, not from the perspective of "When can I rest 2 guys at the same time".
Feel like a lineup with both Precious and Mitch is dead in the water in practice.

Thought Precious and Kat looked good together for the few mins they played together. Precious is too small to hold-down the 5 for extended mins, but him and Kat work together. Would lke to see more of that...
fishmike wrote:good win... folks think this should be easy. NBA is tough. Everyone wants to win and we shot like shit and still scrapped one out. Good stuff
NBA rarely easy, but the Knicks were playing with their food last night. There were a number of times where we could've started blowing them away and we seemed to lose interest. Too many crazy pass attempts, too much settling for 3s.
I think Jordi is a good coach and the Knicks have a lot of athletic wings that give us trouble, but there were times where we'd go up 10-12 points and be right on the verge of blowing them out and we just didn't have the killer instinct.

The +/- numbers back it up. It has been a decent. Can't wait to see what a Mitch/Towns lineup looks like.

I like the idea of Mitch getting the tougher defensive assignment, and Precious having an easier time scoring at PF, instead of mostly dealing with centers. If Mitch/Precious works, that’s one more effective lineup to throw at the other team. It’s about Thibs having more options. If JB or KAT miss some games, Mitch/Precious could be a tandem that helps hold down the fort, instead of leaning on JB or KAT too much in the other’s abscence. Its another card to play.

That wasn't my point. I'm thrilled where they are in the standings following a lack-luster stretch. My point is only that these MEME stats are always cherry picked and misleading. He picked "wins" (4th place) because that skews the data over "losses" (6th place) or "win percentage" (tied for 5th).
It's like those stat cherry-picks: "35 pts, 11 assists, 5 rebs on 48% shooting over 5 games in the month of March puts him in the company with Michael Jordan, Oscar Robinson and Larry Bird" Memes. Sure they are great stats! And I love how he's playing, but come on with the comparisons. Those guys were great not because they did something for a month or 20 games, because they were rather consistently great over large periods of time.

Did you know Thibs has the Knicks streak for wearing Knicks logo quarter zips while on the bench? Or are you going to crap on that feat of historical greatness too?

In the 144 minutes KAT and Precious Achiuwa have shared the floor together this season, New York has outscored their opponents by 44 points and is allowing just 104.4 points per 100 possessions. That’s the best DefRtg among all NY’s two-man lineups that have logged more than 100 mins together.
