First Alonso signs and now the Knicks get Delon Wright.
Buddies with OG too I think
A frenchman named "Hugo". NBA has drafted 3 men named Hugo. Not one has played a game. No Stats.
He can give Rokas some competition for our summerlague intrigue. Will he show? Will he try to make team.
Delon? Might have a role. Described as potential Thibian willing defender and good locker room/ bench guy.
Jericho got a place that wants him. Thats good. Think he'll even notice? the man just looks blank.

Me personally I've always thought highly of D-Wright.
Always noticed his size and defense on the perimeter --- yes he's going on 33 now but for short spots he could give us help against tough quick perimeter players (ex Trae Young).
He's not a creator or scorer but does give us a guard with 6'5" size that can get us into an offense better than say Deuce, who won't scare you with shot selection like Cam and who hopefully won't look scared like Shamet has thus far.
He had a nice year in Dallas 19/20 playing with Brunson I believe --- career 35% from 3 but 4-5 seasons at ~37% and above.
Could see him play some minutes next to Jalen and again he gives us another perimeter defender.
Also possible we re-route him for a 1 on 1 deal (Burks?) --- at least I think we could do that.
Man that latest Laker trade looks like an overpay to me from Lakers.
Often/always injured Mark Williams for D-Knecht, the great Cam Reddish but also a 2031 unprotected pick and 2030 pick swap (in the event Luka eats himself into oblivion in 2031).
Kind of a weird trade. Seems like the focus was putting Sims in a good situation and helping the Bucks fill a need. What does this do for us? Delon was a useful piece some time ago, but hasn’t been used that much on a Bucks team trying to compete. Weird fit.
Leon drops the mike with the move and leaves the office.
Does getting "Cash" in the deal mean we open up apron space to bring up Warren or Okeke too?
Delon Wright is Shamet's size with way better defense and less shooting.

No, it just goes into Venmo account and does nothing for cap

3rd or 4th backup PG and defense I guess

Lengthy enough to guard 2s and small 3s too. Gives some cover to Bridges. If Shamet isnt making shots, its at least better to eat his 10mpg with a plus defender who can get steals and start breaks. I hope he doesn't play at the expense of chaos Cam though. Cam brings more to the table IMO.
Apparently Delon was 99th percentile steal and deflection rate or something like that. A poor old man's version of Dyson Daniels?
ITs interesting because they didn't free up the space to bring up Warren or Okeke so they see Wright as a better option. I can see the appeal. A guy who can guard 1s and 2s and create turnovers. Good point of attack D on ballhandlers.
Perhaps Cam Payne is on the move, then this makes a ton of sense.
Mark Williams? I would have thought if Adam Silver was really dialed in he could have done better for the Lakers!
Delon could be useful to throw at Boston or Clev in a long series. Those teams also have good size to them. The Winsgstop nation. If Mitch can defend the rim knicks might be a holy terror on defense at times. If reliable he can help keep Deuce and Payne a bit healthier.
I guess this deal will make more sense on March 1st unless it was just doing Sims a solid like the Obi trade

when was the last time we got "cash" in any deal? Brock now filling up the cash draw in the office for donuts!

It does look like an overpay. Though Knecht's value is probably inflated a little off the Lebron bump.
Curious if Cam get's waived. I know he didn't work out here (or anywhere) but I wonder if he has an epiphany like KAT did about Thibs. Putting aside history, his length at 3 would be valued at the backup SF if we could figure the numbers.

Hard to have less shooting than Shamet lately
If you really see Wright as a backup 1, you could read the tea leaves a little bit and make an inferences, MAYBE there's a deal out there that requires stacking Cam Payne's contract (i.e. Achiuwa+Payne is about a 9-10mm salary. Adding a 3mm to Robinson, Achiuwa or combinations thereof get us to different levels of player).

Something to be said about that also. Especially when you sign an undrafted kid. Agents need to take care of there kids and Knicks have a good record of doing so with low picks and underrated. They get a legit chance in most cases. I would appear they are upfront with it and what they expect. Now if a kid does not agree with the Thibian way then its best to not enter. In the end we got Obi paid and on a team that utilizes his talents well.
"Who you know". Thibs was an assistant under rivers win Boston and maybe still tight. Maybe that came to play? Wisconsin does not have legal weed.
