Knicks · Cleveland just got De’Andre Hunter (page 2)

This is a big time upgrade and move for Cleveland. Their bench is just at another level now.

But LaVert also gave us fits when we played them.

Hawks also just dumped Bogey to the Clippers. Really selling.

Was not worried about Cavs prior to this move. That’s a lot of height in the lineup now.

Man, it’s like Atlanta was helping them. I don’t get how lopsided these trades have been. e.g. Luka
And we send 5 firsts for Bridges (who is playing great and an iron man… well that is partly why.)

But damn, we have lot’s of seconds, wonder if we could have done that trade with Atlanta?
Hunter at slmost 22 mill. Would need Mitch 14 mill, Deuce 5 mill or Precious 6 mill, and parts.
Was hoping things worked out and we get Cleveland in the playoffs, now? Maybe next year.

Speaking of Deuce, what happened to his offense? Thought he was ready to make a scoring leap.

Big front court to help out the miniature backcourt

wow... he really helps them.

I would say if you have to make a move as Cle that ensures you the best shot of beating Bos/NY to get to the finals it would be getting Hunter.

That being said doesnt your crunch time line ups still include Garland/Mitchell? I like how Brunson/Bridges match up there... Brunson has had a history of success vs. Donovan and I like Mikal on Garland

I think Mikal might be on Donovan; at least that's how i would play it

I still think they'll have vulnerability in a series (or maybe it's more hoping than thinking) but they are now much better. weakness turned to a strength

I like Hunter and his new found health. Would have made a move for him from us if we had the chips.

This is a great move for Cleveland. Definitely gives him a boost. Surprised hawks moved him for so cheap.

in the silver lining department (my specialty) these moves suggest Hawks will be out of the playoffs which might be net positive for us, as they give us problems especially that scrawny, ugly twerp with a big mouth

And who does Hunter guard? He's kind of their three now. his talents are wasted guarding Josh. we'll need to hit our shots, that's for sure

I wasn't worried about them without Jalen Johnson - kinda would have preferred they started the course and we matched up with them w/ out Johnson.

I think this creates an opening for Philly in the play in tournament. Yes they stink right now, but when Embiid decides to play do we really think any team down in that play in can compete with them?

martin @ 2/6/2025 5:26 PM
I think we have a winner here

He guards Brunson, as per current league approach

Cavs can also sign buyout guys with contracts in excess of the $12.8M value.

So guys like Smart, Brogdon, Simmons, etc could end up in Cleveland as well.

I know the Cavs have played well without Mitchell during the regular season. But even with Hunter, I’m not so sure they would have the same success in the playoffs. Not if DM isn’t clutch in the playoffs yet again. I think we could take them. Especially if Mitch is healthy.

And a healthy wing stop will neutralize the cavs guards and wing (Hunter). I’m more afraid of lavert for some reason. Too many mouths to feed on that team. The question still remains. Who’s guarding JB? He’s cooking any matchup.

Hunter guards Brunson, Mitchell guards Bridges, Garland guard Hart, Mobley guards OG and Allen on KAT. KAT needs to cook Allen off the dribble and Hart has to bully Garland.

No doubt Cavs have a solid team. I genuinely like their players. But DeAndre will not have the same production in Cleveland as he did not ATL. And the luxury of Niang and LeVert off the bench is prettt high. I think they are a better team with Hunter, but I expect a little bit of growing pains here to
Implement Hunter into their rotation. Bold move taking a team that was absolutely rolling and trading two rotation pieces for a starter. It matches them up well against the Knicks. But I think our bench with Mitch might actually have the lead on them now
While our starters are undersized compared to theirs, but closely matched.
