Secondly - I bet Mitch is limping up the court by 2nd game and despite having almost a full year to work on his FT shooting he will still shoot like a blind bat.

I dont even know what his regular gait looks like... Im just used to see him wobble gimpy up the court.
Fishy, I think you could solidly beat him in a race downcourt.

But I know you're rusty. I might have to train you. Like Apollo and Rocky.

With steroids?

If that's what it takes...

Fish during the playoffs.

Looks like pre draft Mitch to me.
I was shocked to see how he plays on the team vs what I saw in person. This is what I saw in person b4 he was drafted, so I’m not surprised.

If Precious and Towns works.

Imagine a Mitch and Towns connection. What you lose in shooting with Mitch, you gain so much more in all the other areas.

Mitch increases perimeter defense, and reduces open 3s.

The only risk is how Thibs manages this flexibility vs injuries as we approach the playoffs. Very tricky balance Thibs has to walk.

Im not verse on why the twin tower thing did not work as well as it did for Minny when Towns and Rudy were doing it. They had a nice run last year beating Denver but Dallas surprised them and advanced. Maybe lack of experience at that level? I suppose Thibs understands what happend and works it better. Rudy is a DPOY kind of dude.
Be interesting to see how this unfolds either way. I'd think some matchups they can go this way and some Mitch sits more.

Philc1 @ 2/17/2025 7:12 AM
Can they both sit out until the inevitable second round matchup with Boston?

Rudy and Mitch are 2 different animals. One is purely a shot blocker and defensive rebounder. Mitch is a shot blocker, offensive rebounder and great finisher

This.

One might actually want to look at some numbers before calling them different animals.
If anything, Rudy is superior and has been. Im looking at at same age or service comps.
https://basketball.realgm.com/player/Mit...
They are not identical nor did I imply they were.

Rudy with 4 DPOY, 4 all NBA and some all star nods might be HOF one day based on those unusual stats. Not a first ballot but perhaps.
Mitch at his peak is a great offensive rebounder and finisher for sure. Love the guy.
What version of Mitch do we get this time? Will he temper his game a bit to stay on the floor?

Gobert is 6 years older and has been in the nba significantly longer so using his accolades like DPOY is a little apples and oranges. At this stage of their careers Mitch is younger, stronger and faster. Gobert is a double double machine but last year he averaged 34 minutes per game to 24 minutes per game for Mitch in the ‘23-‘24 season. The reason for the minutes discrepancy last year was Hartenstein was on the team.

Philc, your a parrot at best.
I bring up Rudy's cred because he is what peak Mitch should aspire to. Issue is Mitches health.
Both are very strong defenders and rebounders. They are not identical. I did not say they were different animals, I said they are similar in some aspects. I would not dismiss Rudy as much as we should not over rate Mitch either.
Mitch has stagnated given his time off the court.

Your looking for an argument were none exists. nice try.

The thing did not work because KAT played like shit in conference finals.
Also, Luka and Irving showed him what $50M+ should get you in playoffs.
Rudy and MR, imo are only similar in that they can protect the rim. If you watch Rudy, he is a fundamental team defense corner stone. However, he has zero athletic ability nor can he be given the ball at any time. If you look at MR, when healthy, his numbers especially offensive rebounding and defense, have been elite. We just need him to stay healthy and we will see some good things with that pairing up front.

Still see them both starting despite all the naysayers.
