Did you notice that when he started the game vs. Chicago we put up almost 40 3s? TJ is taking 7 3's a game in Westchester. Green light buddy!
But yes I wanna see KAT and Brunson take more 3s. They are 40% shooters - we can use more. I think OG and Mikal, because they have been so streaky, go for long periods where they pass them up. We know Josh's confidence definitely slips a lot and he is constantly passing them up.
Boston rarely passes em up when they have space.
Yeah, I think TJ will be added to the main club soon, for that reason. We definitely need more gun slingers. Since we can't guard them, we gotta shoot them.
The worst thing we can do is not guard the 3 and not shoot the 3. The hardest thing to fix right away is guarding 3's. The easiest to fix, is finding 3pt shooters like TJ.
I approve this message.
Is there a mathematical model to add him with our hard cap?

We can fit his prorated vet min on Feb 28, aka Mitch and TJ Day
top to bottom this is the best Knicks team in my lifetime. And frankly it's just boring a hell watching the games. People bitch about the pace of the 90s. Well, the exact opposite is worse, because it is impossible to play any legitimate defense. if I see someone play great on the ball defense and not get a foul called on them, I can remember the time and place, what I was wearing, what I had for dinner, as well as seasonal factors - because it is so fucking rare

It’s gotta get past the 1993, 1999 and 2013 for me. But it certainly feels like that’s right.
Sixers took 15 more 3s than us tonight

Josh - 0-0
Bench of Shamet, Precious, Cam, Deuce - 0-3

Somehow Detroit beat Boston yesterday shooting 33 3's to the Celtics 49

holy crap and they shot 21-49 42% from downtown too, 33-80 overall.
12-31 from inside the arc? 39%

Brown didn’t play. They started KP and Horford. KP in foul trouble. Beasley went off in the second unit. 6-11 from 3. Not to knock Detroit. They are on an upswing. But I don’t think this is a “game plan” to beat Boston. It’s more of a bad night.
For nostalgic and aesthetic reasons I am not a fan of the heavy use of threes (what’s next a league which only plays Horse — Larry bird could still play)
But strategically and math wise the numbers speak for themselves
And it’s not just the scoring aspect that may be an advantage. If all of your guys can shoot it seems the team is expending less energy on offense less cutting, playing through contact etc; better positioned to transition to defense; whether for offensive rebounding or passing more guys have the play in front of them where they can better see the court and contribute: and while missed threes may lead to more transition opportunities the stats (at least the last i looked) improved a teams offensive rebounding percentage as rebounds were farther from rim with more space (Josh’s sweet spot)
PhilJax freaking hated this type of ball and said it would not lead to a chip. He was wrong.
Players did not shoot like they do now.
ah, the good old days......When men were men, no body floored and hand checking was legal. Two refs, not three, and nobody checked video to get the call right!
