I only have one question can he box out? I don't care about anything else at this point

At an absolute minimum maybe Tucker can stir up some shit in the locker room and tell guys to stop being pussies —- maybe take some hard fouls or start a skirmish on the court to light a flame.

As I watch games all year — VERY RARELY have we appeared to be defending hard/tough/physical. We look and are soft ALL YEAR.

Truth. Miss iHart, Randle throwing around their bodies and letting opponents feel them.

Don’t forget Divo.

Removing Randle who was a dog. For KAT who literally has catlike moves. Totally Different bite.

It was expected we needed some dogs and probably thought Mikal would fill that. Good 10 day signing. I believe his impact will be OG like….as far as impacting wins.

I like the fit with PJ, need a dog, he can sit in the corner on offense and play with all of our bigs because he can space. But he's old AF. Taj did well here despite being old AF. Need to try something and need a legit PF.

The open question is how much leadership can you provide on a 10 day? I think they are secretly telling us they need someone to beat up Mikal and OG in practice and up the intensity.
technomaster @ 3/10/2025 4:18 PM
I think they're looking for some K-Mart/Rasheed intensity... someone you can put on a star play who's going on for a couple of minutes to get them off their game.

The external side will be, "I'll destroy the old man..." and the other side will be like, "man the next few minutes are going to hurt for a few days."

Knicks get a sneaker head Theo Pinson in Tucker.
Curious if there is a pension thing here, or some other angle given he has not played this season?
Favor to agent? Favor to him? We pass on TJ for good?

PJ was Leon Rose's client at some point. Maybe its a favor to him, but maybe Leon knows what PJ brings to the locker room and what is missing. Did PJ tell Hart to shoot the damn ball last night? Who knows, but if he did, great signing!

Theo leaving was part of the reason we started losing. Don’t ever underestimate the energy from our bench players. Plus he’s the only player available that Thibs would play. He loves the vets.

So far we are 1-0

PJ put in some work last game, reacting and talking up players after every key shot. I love it. This is exactly what this soft azz team needs. A pure pit bull on the side line. Makes Theo look like a small mut.

Someone called PJ Tucker the Julius Randle of Ryan Arciadiacanos
GustavBahler @ 3/11/2025 9:44 PM
As others have said, a locker room player. Not a bad thing, hopefully he can mentor the rooks.

I still want TJ Warren or a temporary PG then sign TJ. We don't have a good enough roster to waste on PJ right now.

Wonder if they need to wait for the salary calculation to set in to be under 2nd apron

martin @ 3/31/2025 6:15 PM
Wow!

Team option for next year makes it easy to opt him to stack his contract for a trade?

PJ Tucker’s rest-of-season deal with the Knicks will leave them with enough room under the second apron to add another vet free agent at the end of the regular season. Knicks people have appreciated Tucker’s off-court impact, vocal approach during his two-week stint with the club. The player and team have agreement, plan to finalize deal shortly. In scenario described above, NYK would need to waive a player in order to create room on roster to sign another free agent. They could fit a veteran minimum salary in under the second apron if they wait until the last day or two of the regular season to make the transaction. The team option on Tucker’s deal - first reported by ESPN - also gives New York additional salary to include in an offseason trade, if club chooses to go that route.
