Brown getting back gives them another chip.

Brown will be up and down this playoffs. Just my gut feeling. So we really need a typical KP injury or we are toast.

Wait who was playing center on that play? Mitch or Towns. Cause if it was Mitch you right. If it was Towns, OG had to guard the drive. If OG studied Tatums go to moves, he does that step back all the time. We need OG and Mikal to have a baby that’s tough like OG but arms like Mikal. Otherwise unless Thibs has a better game plan, Tatum will continue to kill us.

Need Mitch protecting the paint so the guards and wings to guard the 3pt shot.

A Tatum layup would have been a great result with just a couple of seconds left in regulation.

Thibs mantra all year to his players is to do what the game tells you to do. The game was screaming at Thibs to not allow Tatum to beat you! You have to foul up 3 less than 10 seconds. Then, less than 10, with the ball in a tie game, your worse shooter can not take the potential game winning shot...

True,they could have fouled.
But felt good with matchup. OG just made the mistake to fall for a fake going to the basket. Which they all should have known, you let that go all day.

Not sure if we have enough to beat them. We just look like not ready for prime time players.
Never thought Bridges was a big time player. Proved to be that last night. Always thought KAT was too soft and not worth the money because he was not a player that can make things happen in big moments. We put him in the corner for most of the ending moments. And still think JB has too much of a sixth man mentality. Took hero threes at the end of the game. OG just seems to lack confidence when he doesn’t start off hot.

However, JB was trying to spread the ball in the 2nd and 3rd. Had double double.
KAT was aggressive and went strong to the basket in first half.
Bridges hit a big shot to put us up three late.
So maybe we can building on that.

Nalod @ 4/9/2025 8:45 AM
Does Tatum pass the ball if not the three?
What about superstars that also get to foul line often?
Tatum stepped up and executed greatness in the moment.
Brunson pass to a cutting Josh was brilliant that extended the lead
A few stops got us the lead. Lets not forget some damn good play down the stretch put us in the position for Tatum to execute.
We can second guess it and do the blame thing but that was a well played game for the most part. Few three throws and we win that game. Boston been on a freaking tear of late.

I took away that we are getting closer.

Losing to them in the second round would not be a flop.

You gotta let him get the layup with the clock winding down and up 3 points. You can't get him get the 3 off. And if you have a foul to give you had an opportunity to foul him before he could get his shot up. We need to use the clock and the FT line in that situation. In general, I'm not for fouling every time, but when you can play the clock game and against this Boston team, I think you have to.

Interesting

Bobby Krivitsky: Kristaps Porzingis on why he shoots from so far behind the 3-point line: “I tried to see if my efficiency goes up the closer I am to the 3-point line, but it really doesn’t. And I don’t know why, I’m just comfortable shooting a little bit out..Also helps our offense.” – via Bluesky

VDesai @ 4/9/2025 9:14 AM
The thing that's just incredible about the Celtics are all the back breaking plays...

Tatum makes a deep 3 to beat the buzzer at the end of the first
Tatum makes an absurd fadeaway to beat the buzzer on the 3rd
Tatum obviously makes the game tying 3....

But beyond that---
Pritchard making off the glass floaters at the end of the shot clock
Offensive rebounds leading to a Derrick White 3
Porzingis making 40 foot 3s after we're swarming around, defending the line and containing Tatum drives

Its just so hard to beat them when they make these deflating/backbreaking shots over and over. Yet we were still there this time.

But this offseason we need to get into the fucking Math lab because the Celtics have broken the NBA. Boston is typically taking like 12-15 more 3s per game than their opponents. We just struggle to keep up with their volume and makes and even when we're killing them on 2's they are still running away from us.

Formula in the NBA is 5 switchable defenders and 3 pt volume.

Taller players - almost like he's too close from the line. Even KAT likes to step out a few feet behind the line. Porzingis is 25/51 in 7 games vs. the Knicks since he has been a Celtics player. Over 4's a game at 50% shooting. Just wild.

Point was that you let him score the 2. Which would not have tied the game

NYStateOfMind wrote:I often don't care for KAT doubles, it rarely works. The ball handler usually maintains possession, KAT is too slow to recover, so he grabs the closest player forcing another player to scramble toward an open shooter. Often it is KAT's original matchup that is that open guy. I like the thought attempt to help on D, but not this often and so recklessly. Leave those doubles to the wings. If he gets picked, fight back to your own man.

3 volume is out of hand in the NBA and we aren't adjusting, you just can't recover on most nights with 8 less made 3s, that is an 8 pt deficit when you answer with a 2. FT misses are sometimes an issue like tonight, and mental lapses. The game swung on that 8-0 run but the refs did the Knicks no favors in those minutes.

Overall, mostly positives from this game overall. They needed to add someone at the deadline like the Cavs did with Hunter, but the didn't and Celts are just too deep with talent. We are 1 or 2 depth players away from the top tier. I'll take 2nd tier in the 1st Year of this new Knicks. Go NY go!

For me, this is one of KAT's biggest flaw. He lollygags back and has zero clue what to do or where to go

Bottom line...we have no Tatum! Durant would help.

Who do you subtract from this roster to accomplish this?

Pay you no mind, Knicks got Brunson, he just a tad rusty.

Guys like him are what’s wrong with nba. So he hit a bunch of wide open threes. His plus minus was still zero. He’s 9 feet tall and only had 4 rebounds. He’s only played half a season again and I’m sure will miss playoffs games because of a sinus infection.

Clean @ 4/9/2025 4:54 PM

These guys needs all the rest they can get. So I really like this move. This is not something I would expect from Thibs. So hopefully he makes a few more changes that can help the team.

Good. We also dont need to show Detroit anything a week before facing them.
