Annoying loss I wish I could erase from memory. Give the Pistons credit. They did what they had to do which was win one of these first two on the road. Cunningham was tremendous and Schroder hit a clutch three.
The zebras were biased and horrendous but they aren't the only reason we lost. And it also doesn't fall on one or two players or even the HC alone. I think everyone shared the blame with this one. Have to start with Bridges missing all the clutch threes that would have won it imo. Schroder made his and Bridges chocked on his attempts. They were all great looks too. Very disappointing cause he was having a really good bounce back game but you have to knock down the important ones!
KAT was invincible and there is plenty of blame there too. I blame Thibs and Brunson for not looking more for him but KAT shares most of the blame cause he was too aloof and disinterested. No fire or sense if urgency. Like he forgot how good he is and was content just standing in the corner. He needs to be more aggressive and assertive and fucking yell and demand the ball! Especially when he has Tobias freaking Harris trying to guard him!
OG was pretty bad too. Maybe Suni didn't call him back? But seriously an off game for OG at both ends. He didn't check Cade as well as the first game. I didn't like how easily he gave up on switches cause he faught through them to stay on Cade in game one.
Bench was nonexistent except for Mitch battling on the glass. Shamet was awful and I won't be surprised or sad if he doesn't play again in this series. Deuce banked in a big 3 but we need more. Payne came back down to earth but Thibs shouldn't have given up on him and not play him in the second half.
Brunson tried his best but we aren't going to win with just him. He needs help! But this was never going to be an easy series. We'll win one on Detroit and come back tied 2-2.
I think we are getting outhustled pretty consistently. Detroit plays tough and we look somewhat soft compared to them. We either have to be en fuego from outside or we have to match their intensity. If KAT is not shooting then we really should stick with Mitch. I also am not sure why we played Bridges on Cade when OG had success against him in game 1. Also, maybe give Precious a few minutes if we are going to try to match Detroit's energy. I think going forward we need more Mitch as we need his rebounding, rim protection and intensity. KAT really only works well against a team like this if he's outscoring consistently. KAT and Mitch at least takes care of the boards and allows KAT to shoot more outside. Looks like 6 or 7

Completely forgot about Precious. Should have gotten some PT, Cam as well. Was in the doghouse after 3 quick fouls. Too long.

Refs made quick work of Cam. I’m not blaming Thibs nor Cam for that the refs were out for blood when it came to Cam tonight.

I think we get one of the next 2. Said it from the very beginning Knicks in 7. I didn’t want the pistons round 1.

If the Knicks get eliminated in the first round I think management is going to take a look at Michael Malone.

I saw one where Cam clearly pushed someone in the back. He was a bit too amped. But that shouldnt have been enough to sit him for the rest of the game.
The refs shouldnt matter because no one was getting calls. We needed some instant offense.
No longer holding back on Thibs. Dude is the worst and I will be pointing out how bad he is every chance I get. If Kenny can get the Cavs to have space on offense with 2 bigs and Thibs can't with Hart or Mitch as the non shooters that a coaching problem. To compund that problem he often plays them together and during the regular season plays another non shooter in Precous with them. If your trash at coaching offense have to rely on Brunson to bail you out all the time at least make it easy on him and give him good spacing. To have to rely on Brunson ball and give him the worst spacing in the league is coaching malpractice.
How on Earth we play a team with injured big, and we don't keep pushing KAT and Mitch inside the paint? isn't Mitch very good at off rebounds? KAT was very successful going one on one against Harris, but then stopped, and we started the Brunson dribble dribble show!!!
And the other thing always buffles me, how can a team not shoot well, how can everybody shoot bad?
Hart can't be that bad on offense, he is getting all these milions to be like a dear in the headlights when he got the ball on offense.....
Read between the lines. We know who that is directed towards.

Who do you actually want? The Knicks keep losing because they keep underachieving. No disrespect to Detroit, who did what they had to do. But it’s the Knicks who never do what they have to, who have a coach as inconsistent as themselves and who have stars who thrive in styles that they move away from. It doesn’t make sense. I was hoping for a real turnaround and Game 1 made me hope a little bit, with KAT playing amazing defense and all. But this team was an enigma during the season and is still a huge enigma even today in the playoffs.
Game 2 always worries me because it seems to either confirm Game 1 win or kinda change momentum. The Pistons know who they are and played their game, simply more focused and with less errors. We, on the other side, are still a mess who struggles to play defense and who easily move away from their strengths without any adjustments.

Don’t think he’s the answer either.
"Deployment issue" is code word for the coach sucks and can't maximize the talented roster. I am past code words and will keep it real.
Our lack of boxing out allowed them to dominate the glass. Our lack of offensive playmaking( do we even have a playbook?)with so many excellent passers ( KAT, Brunson, Hart) made it very hard for us to score. We should have lost game 1 too in a similar fashion as this one, but with our backs against the wall guys came through and Detroit crumbled. Today Detroit played their game and we played our game. Results were as expected. I don't see us getting out of these series as it would take all of the adjustments that we haven't made all season long
Detroit plays a lot like Houston and IMO like okc’s D. Ultra aggressive committing more fouls each possession, ie, more than refs are willing to call
That said it’s a series not a one off and we’ll need to adjust. JB playing iso, and complaining at the refs non stop won’t get it done.
We might be seeing the effects of the loss of Johnny Flynn. Our adjustments have been a shorter rotation and more ISO, very concerning
We could be down 2-0. And just as easily up 2-0. We have not played our best ball

That bold is so true. The crazy thing is all teams did from january was stick the center or their best interior defender on Hart and Thibs acts like its some quantum physics equation. He been stumped for months. His only answer is lets do the exact same thing and hopefully we get lucky this time.
We need to get the ball up faster and get into our offense faster. Jalen cannot look at the refs on every reach in. He was obsessed with fouling out Ausar and all that did was put Schroeder into the game who made all their big shots.
Detroit has more length perhaps at the guard position, but not more size overall. Why are we getting smoked on the boards. KAT did not shoot much, but also didn't rebound. What was he doing out there? If he is not taking shots or rebounding than why is he playing.
At this point I accept Mikal being Brickal, but we won't win this series unless KAT shows up.
I didn't catch the game and it seems past the point now so I'll let others do the talking
Not for nothing but this is RJ and Randle'esque circa 3 years ago
