Thought this was a good summary of things so far, and especially game #2:

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6302812...

Katz: I can use only a made-up adjective to describe Knicks-Pistons: Bad Boy-ish.

Greater than the effect of the Pistons’ defense is their identity. Each member of the team conducts himself the same way — as if it’s 1990.

Tobias Harris is winning a game of physicality against Towns. Jalen Duren is soaring for rebounds. Ausar Thompson is pressing Brunson full court. If he slaps his forearm 80 feet from the paint, so be it. The Knicks didn’t receive borderline calls during the first half of Game 2, not drawing their first shooting foul until the third quarter against a squad that usually hacks anyone who moves.

If the Pistons can play how they want, turning games into rock fights, they give themselves a chance. And through a couple of games, the Knicks have played into that hand.

They aren’t getting into their sets quickly, which is bogging down the offense. Brunson has leaned into too much one-on-one ball, especially during Game 2, when he hunted fouls down the stretch.

The first two bouts have looked more like Pistons games than Knicks ones.

We're going to learn a lot about this team tonight. Tobias Harris has basically called us soft. If this doesn't piss off KAT and Bridges, then maybe Harris is right.

I think we'll bounce back and send a big message tonight.

Just hate that the NFL draft will also be going on. Fingers crossed my GMen make a good pick at 3 and whatever QB they trade up for is the long time answer.

VDesai @ 4/24/2025 1:40 PM
Honestly my gut only showing me two possible outcomes tonight.

Historically in the Thibs era, we get backed against a way and we bounce back in a big way. I think I see a world where we have a strong bounce back, statement win. I personally think this is most likely what happens.

But maybe we don't adjust...and we absolutely can lose the exact same way we lost Game 2 and were trending to lose Game 1 before the run. And if that happens, I don't think we we win this series.

Thibs and Brunson. Typically Brunson has huge games after losses and this team has always fought harder after a loss. I expect a statement type win. I dont think they have the talent to keep this up. Mikal/OG/KAT have combined for like 27% or some shit from 3. That's gonna change.
Nalod @ 4/24/2025 3:42 PM
Knicks are not as tough as last year with Randle and iHart. Harris is right.
I don't care if they get pissed at that remark. We are more finesse then raw.
Thats fine. Knicks should not take the bait. Stop complaining, take the body blow, stay focused and beat them by forcing turnovers, transitions, and outscore them.
ramtour420 @ 4/24/2025 4:00 PM
At this point we need to play to our strengths. On D we need to switch and double in the paint with drop back, then run out to the 3 while anticipating the next pass. We have done it this way this season, even if sporadically. Rebound.Swipe at ball on drives, create turnovers and run, like Nalod said.Rebound , as much as we can...........

On O it should be a Brunson and KAT show. Equal distribution. But need to get others involved early, OG and Mikal and even Hart. Rebound. If we have 30+ assists it will give us a better chance to win. Limit the turnovers, especially off of steals. Rebound. Need that psychological factor of scoring easy buckets on them. Make the free throws. Did I mention that we need to rebound?

Fuck Tobias Harris and the horse he rode in on. He was a non-factor in all the Philly games last year, and he's going to be a non-factor again tonight.

Calling out: Towns, OG, and Brickages. Show up for this must-win, or ship out!

Guys. The intent of the gameday pictures was to celebrate the majesty and artistry of NBA cheerleaders.

Must I show you how it's done?

^ I think she just did

Not sure about the must win, but probably the best chance to even the series. We need to shoot the lights out to win( apparently) and after a loss this is the game to do it. Next game will be our backs against the wall if we don't get a win here
Uptown @ 4/24/2025 6:30 PM
The playoffs are all about adjustments...We won game 1, the Pistons made slight adjustments to get Cade going...now its our turn to adjust. Would like us to pick up the tempo and push the rock a little but more. This will open up early looksfor us because the pistons have a lot of cross matchups to pick up in transition. Duren has to find Hart, Tobias has to find Kat, Ausar has to find Brunson. Also, pushing the pace should open up a few trailer 3's for Kat.

Lets run some early offensive sets for Mikal ang OG to get them going in the 1st quarter and when we are in the half court, lets get Kat some touches in the high post and run some splits and backdoor cuts and or let him go to work....

VDesai @ 4/24/2025 6:49 PM
Not a must win, but the narrative around the team is bad.

-Thibs cant adjust
-Brunson cant pass
-KAT not aggressive

You can't let it linger like this. A strong bounceback would mean a lot.
