I have to be honest, when people on this board suggest Precious should play, I wonder if they watched the last 2-3 months of the year, because 80% of the time he was unplayable. I'd consider him for a defensive possesion, but I have no confidence in him. I'd rather see Hukporti out there if you need size / physicality.

Thibs got like zero confidence in Shamet and Precious.

Think that's fair on Precious, but wish Shamet would get a shot as he was on such a heater from 3 at the end of the year that it merits an opportunity. Its a physical series where we're at a disadvantage on size, it I think he probably feels like he can't get away with using him. He is matching Cade mins with OG whenever possible, so not leaving a lot of room to sneak in Shamet.

Oh yes, matchup too.

Shamet had the unfortunate luck of also throwing the ball away the first minute of his playoffs with NY in game 1. Not a good look with a Thibs team.

Not looking ahead too far, but if you get into a series with Boston where volume 3 point shooting matters, it would be a mistake to leave Shamet out IMO.

Ref's report says they made an error and perhaps with time and 5 angles of replay it was a foul.
But they called it as they saw is as would they perhaps find many others as the mugged knicks.
Thus Nalod concludes "let Detroit fans suck an egg". They had the game and let it slip away.
They are playing to their strength and I respect that.

Knicks figured out Pistons enough to exploit them.
They too are tired and prone to mistakes to end games.

it would be nice if Brunson need not give us a heart attack and NOT have to go change his sneakers for some heroic ending.
Fact is Young Piston team plays hard for their coach.

VDesai @ 4/28/2025 10:21 AM
"The foul baiting grifter" gets 2 FTs and not a single 4th quarter FT attempt while scoring 15 points in the 4th, and now the crybaby narrative moves to the last play. Take ownership of your bonehead coach using a challenge on an out of bounds play at 10-8 with 7 mins to go in the first quarter - a completely inconsequential play that you never use a challenge on unless its blatantly obvious so that you know you're getting an extra challenge play. It was a completely inconclusive play and this moron used his challenge. The refs are not gonna easily make that call real time, especially in a game where they let sooo much contact go. The blame is not going to Bickerstaff, but it should be.
VDesai @ 4/28/2025 10:28 AM
Its really difficult to take when Brunson is the most accountable person on the entire planet, taking the blame for Game 2 and whenever he misses an FT or a mistake.

Meanwhile Bitcherstaff blames the refs when he's the guy who uses a challenge at 10-8. Supposed to be a HEad Coach and an adult.

Yet Detroit / media narrative wants to talk about Brunson being a grifter and Detroit being so disadvantaged. Unbelievable.

I think if you go with Precious you are not necessarily going for size and physicality as much as someone who can at least do a little bit on offense and handle the ball more than Mitch. Every time Mitch touches the ball at the top of the key and needs to facilitate a DHO I cringe in fear.

Precious sucked to the end the year but has a body of work with us and also stepped up huge in the playoffs last year after not being in the rotation to start.

That said, it's moot because it won't happen unless Mitch gets hurt. But Mitch is just not the right guy for this team moving forward.

DLeethal @ 4/28/2025 10:39 AM
I don't think Thibs has confidence in Shamet in this series. That may change next series. Shamet is playing way undersized 3 against an uber physical team. Against more of a finesse team like Boston he might have his moments.

Maybe not on Mitch, but I think Huk might be. I think if you're looking at Precious body of work you have to see those last 2-3 months where what he was doing offensively was confusing at best. I love his range on defense, but on the other side of the floor he is a scary proposition to me...

If Schroeder and Beasley are gonna be out there it negates some of the size advantage they have. Rebounding still a problem for us, but I feel like we're letting the ball go through our hands a lot.

good point. if they play those guys, then JB gets a breather defending them

we have to get our rebounding right. If Mitch and KAT can't dominate glass then try KAT and Precious

I watched those games. Precious is a bit of a sulker and I don't think he does well in the 2 minute cameos

he stepped up last year, and can and has played better in meaningful games

his big issue is when he thinks and acts like a superstar. then he makes bonehead mistakes

Yes I've said it a bunch this year - if OG and Mikal have good offensive games, we usually blow someone out. If one of them has a good game, we usually win. If both stink, we lose....but yet we won yesterday.

True but Mitch is making more and is not playing well. When he and Josh are on floor pistons can take a nap on defense

Can't tell if 6 TO's per is the Knicks D or Cade/Pistons. Or both.

Cade was one of the highest in the NBA in turnovers at around 4.4. He is turnover prone, but we're also making him turnover 6 times so we're doing it even more than normal- so both.
