I know we are still on a playoff high after the Detroit series, but any available free agents you think we should kick the tires on? https://hoopshype.com/lists/2025-nba-fre...
Malik Beasly - 3pt shooting Jaylin Williams - don’t really know his game but his stars fit the bill Bol Bol - always liked what he can do as a unicorn player

We can use shooting like Beasly's but not sure his attitude/off court will fit. I like Jaylin Williams. Comes from a winning culture and does a bit of everything.
My top pick would be Naz Reid as backup C Would also be happy with Clint Capela or Steven Adam's to replace Mitch
Others possibilities: Bones Hyland, Luke Kennard, Trent Jr or Seth Curry for bench sharp shooting Cam Thomas as starting SG or Larry Nance Jr at PF to move Bridges or Josh to bench? CP3 backup PG Nicolis Batum for bench vet
Panos@ 5/3/2025 8:46 AM
Can we get Naz Reid and play him next to The Greek?
VDesai@ 5/4/2025 11:27 AM
Can we get Ty Jerome? Local kid. Has been a killer for the Cavs.
I think he probably gets more than the mid level

Good call, he would be a great fit. Cavs in a weird spot just like Knicks were with iHart, signed to a 2 year deal. UFA.

No Beasley please. Bad sign for me, when I’m happy the player is on the other team.
I hope the FO asks about THJ. Would make a good 6th man. Still one of the league leaders every year in taking charges. Plays with a chip on his shoulder .

Beasley's got terrible hands.

I think he picks up an MLE or something close to that. I don't think they can afford him.

What's the Naz Reid market? $30 M? Naz and Donte for KAT?

I see you point about Beasley's attitiude. The first time Thibs doean't play him or yanks him it would go down hill. I see someone said Ty Jerome, he would be a nice fit.

For the Taypayer MLE of 5.7M we will need someone good to come at a discount who wants a big role on a winning team. Maybe someone to allow Hart to move back to his 6th man role.
A few options who might be on the high end of realistic are: Caris LeVert (CAA) G Yabusele (CAA) Luke Kennard (CAA) Jake LaRavia (young shooter) Amir Coffey
Just a few who peak my interest at that price point.
Knixkik@ 5/5/2025 2:52 PM
To add a little more context about Caris LeVert, he’s an excellent corner 3pt shooter on decent volume. He’s a good secondary playmaker. Has decent size and isn’t bad defensively. And he’s a CAA client. Ontop of that, he was very appreciated by the Cavs fanbase. For what this team needs, he checks a lot of boxes. Like Burks from a few years ago. He can start in place of Hart, and teams can’t cheat on him with a center. He’s too solid shooting and off the dribble. Or he is an established 6th man if the starting lineup remains the same. A lot will change in the next 2 months, but he would be my top free agent choice. It’s just a matter of him being willing to accept the taxpayer MLE.

Getting Caris wouldn't LaHurt

I agree. But what do you think his magic number is? I can see many teams in contention lining up to sign him.
EwingsGlass@ 5/5/2025 5:11 PM
I don't think the spending this offseason goes too crazy (it can't) or specifically triggers a hard cap. I see vet free agents, and 2md rd picks utilized. Not sure if Nnaji or Rokas get pulled to the NBA. I think McCullar makes the final roster.
Something like this.
Brunson / McBride / Kolek Hart / Trent / McCullar Bridges / Brown / Dadiet OG / Boucher / Achiuwa KAT / Robinson / Huk

Yes this makes a ton of sense. Trent and Boucher both. And McCullar definitely should make it. He will be useable I think. And cheap.

Not sure but there’s not a ton of money to go around this summer. And a lot of teams will be gearing up for 2026. So 2025 free agents might be cheaper. At least for 1 year, and try again in 2026. But this should be the year to get bargain guys.

Hear me out ...
Russell Westbrook as a guy to backup Jalen and also play 10 mins next to him.
I feel what we need is a legit backup guard who can play on/off with Jalen like Quickly did.
And a C who can play on/off with Towns.
Westbrook and Walker Kessler. I like Caris Levert as well. Westbrook also brings a ton of fire that this team currently lacks.
I hope we go into next year with a brand new bench including moving on from Deuce and Mitch. Love Deuce but he's just too small for what we need and can't be lead ball handler ever.
DLeethal@ 5/5/2025 5:45 PM
Bol Bol is a decent option as a backup big as well.

What do you think Kessler commands in salary? And why wouldn’t Utah pay that amount +$1?

I just know we’ve had a hardon for him for like a year and a half and reminds me of OG who we heard rumors about for years and finally got him. I think this season showed us how badly we need a backup F/C to play a signicant role and go on/off with KAT.
