also OG's defense in these first 2 series is 100% prime Kawhi material. Best player clamps. End of game clamps. Help. Rim protection. Man2man. inside. Outside. What he has done, along with Brunson's ability to close is why we are 6-2 over all and undefeated on the road.
Wow. So far 100% seeing that vision. Damn
Todd, your a prince. As a pre teen I remember walking in the Grand Concourse around Fordham RD in the Bronx and seeing the poster of the woman in the wet Jamaican T shirt and saying wow, " What's Jamaica ? " And man what a woman. What a poster, the Farah Faucet poster, Cheryl Ladd, and some other very famous ones graced many walls but that one was the one that captured my imagination as a pre teen. More natural figure no plastic silicone.

Good call Alpha. She was even better than the Sears catalog.
What has been the biggest difference so far for the Knicks against the Celts, regular season and the playoffs ?
Of course the Celtics are favorites. Knicks starting 5 have gotten their asses kicked all season by the Celtics, including the playoffs. Thibs has gone on record saying he doesn't think a player should lose their starting slot because of injury, yet 20+ games into his return and Mitchell Robinson is still coming off the bench.
This isn't rocket science, play Robinson and KAT together for the first 5 minutes of every quarter. Let KAT post up against whatever smaller defender they put on him and then pass out of the double team. Have Josh come in off the bench and close quarters. Play McBride between 1st and 2nd to get the non bigs some rest.
If Knicks lose this series, Thibs is still going to get fired so he needs to look at what's working and lean into it. Celtics have outrebounded the Knicks both games and killed it on the offensive boards. Knicks can't expect to win again hoping the Celtics will miss 75% of 3s.

The biggest difference is the defensive strategy. Knicks employed a drop coverage defense all season long. Minnesota writers warned if Knicks employed KAT in drop he will get slaughtered and he does. It’s widely known the only way to slow down Boston offense is through heavy switch defense. Knicks rarely ever do it so most were skeptical Thibs would do it. But Thibs has done exactly that and it’s something he didn’t do all year long. I honestly think he saved true game to game defensive strategy for playoffs and just has a sustainable and consistent model to get through the grind of the season. Boston is currently baffled by the Knicks defense and it’s leading to more isolation pull up 3s from guys like Derrick White than they want to take.

Barring a complete collapse where Knicks get run off the court for 4 straight games Thibs has probably secured his job.
Also all the Celtics do is shoot 3s so whenever they lose they are gonna miss a bunch of 3s. Good teams will make them miss 3 because making the other team miss shots is how you win basketball games. It’s not hoping they miss 3s it’s making them miss 3s.
Also overdoing KAT post ups is not good basketball. It’s just not. There’s a reason every team baits him into it. And he doesn’t pass out of double teams from the post ever. Everyone knows this which is why they send doubles at him. Your strategy of putting another big down low with no ability to play 5 feet from the hoop and then just post up KAT all game is a horrible one.
I think winning today drastically improves our odds of making it to the NBA finals.
A loss, and all bets are off.
Huge game.
Been a great week. National narrative has been reshaped - the talking heads are saying the same thing:
"Brunson is the most dangerous player in the game in the clutch."
"Knicks just need to keep it close through 3 and bring in their closer."
Mikal Bridges back to being an ironman, defensive stud (not talking about those picks anymore) - my favorite quote after game 1 was "the most impressive 8 point game in NBA history!"
But I'm nervous today. We flat out did not play well enough those first 2 games to expect the win. Have not shot the ball particularly well, dug those deficits with uncharacteristically sloppy turnovers. We need to be better. But these Boston collapses have done the soul good. I expect both teams to look sharper today, but feel like we have the mental edge, both on the court and from the coach.
This game will be super difficult. MSG has not been a homecourt advantage and the Celtics are desperate and have been really good on the road. We're going to have to be a lot better, especially offensively and on the glass, to win two more.
I'm honestly treating it and hoping we can find a way to get a split at home and go up 3-1 with 3 chances to close them out.

Have to say the Farah and particularly the Cheryl Ladd swimsuit posters left lasting lasting memories for me.

Well - so far we haven't laid down and quit once falling behind (we are defending 1-5)
Moving mostly to perimeter switching vs drop coverage has been key as it puts onus on each guy to guard, makes Kat/Jalen step up and keeps everyone home (less rotations).
Knicks have NEVER played well with game or series leads --- todays game will tell us so much if we can steal another.
