- NBA forces Mavs to move Luka to LA (better for league) & and in turn promises Mavs top pick in draft - NBA hands Spurs yet another Top 2 pick to assist Wemby love fest - NBA (for whatever reason) hands Philly a Top 3 pick
Come on man...come on.

I don't think the NBA is rigging the lottery on every draft position on every draft. I do think however they are awarding draft position jumps to what they perceive will be good for the league. I don't think last year for ex the league awarded the hawks the 1st pick. They were just lucky. The league imho didn't see anything that could benefited the league.
Rose to the bulls, Cavs, this one, Davis and Zion to Nola, Ewing are too much of a coincidence.
Knixkik@ 5/13/2025 9:53 AM
There’s no real evidence of lottery fixing, but it might be true that the percentages associated with the teams odds aren’t exactly accurate. Not just the Mavs, but many teams with a 1% chance have moved up to the #1 spot. It has happened a lot.

1) NBA is a business just like any other 2) They will do everything in their power to make money 3) ????? 4) Profit

Just glad we aren't in the lottery discussion anymore. Remember when we had the lottery day on our calendars ? I didn't even know it happened. Fuck Philly

Listened to Hoop Collective podcast today on the lottery and all 3 of Windhorst, Bontemps and McMahon adamantly denied Lottery is fixed - claiming the whole process they have and auditors in place.
I say BULLSHIT 1000%.
IMO NBA has found a way to rig that process to look real but top slots (at least) are predetermined.
The Podcaster’s all did indicate it was also odd that 3 playoff type roster teams Mavs/Spurs/Sixers beat the odds in place of all the pure also ran (league bottom feeders).
As much as #1 was so obvious really pisses me off that once again Spurs get another gift at #2 and Sixers tossed a #3 pick to potentially reload with.
DISGUSTED

And it'll be scarier than last time
Wemby Giannis and it wont really matter who else is in the lineup?

the Luka thing was all money. Some super rich person paid another super rich person to make that specific deal happen. Like one of these Mavs owners got 200 million in some slush fund to send Luka to the Lakers where there's already a deal in place that will sell 250 million Lakers Luka jerseys in China. THAT guy is making 500 million and the everyone in the NBA is like I dont get it.
Nalod@ 5/19/2025 1:58 PM
If the owners approve, is it really "rigged" or predetermined? League is a business and if the other owners are fine with Luka in LA, and a pick goes to Dallas delisted those odds, then what fan is fucked over?
This is the big "IF" mind you. You think one owner would blow the whistle? The disgraced Sterling did not, nor did Server. That no GM or team president would speak? Even a disgruntled one in private to a writer? if two team collude like FishMike said would other teams not protest?

My theory is that the league (Silver) orchestrated the Luka deal to get the next great NBA star in LA for health of league.
In order to go there the league had to convince the Mavs with something (as Fishmike suggests a bunch of $$$). I had heard something a few months ago that new Dallas owners want a new stadium complex that would be an all inclusive type complex with built in Hotels, retail etc but that they were having a tough time getting state/city approvals.
Wondering if league told them you help us get Luka to LA and we will get you new arena approval, you take the AD trade and we will make you whole at the lottery (with Cooper Flag)
That’s a lot I know and the big thing is why do Lakers get Luka gift with low low price tag —- maybe because they are the Lakers.
As Nalod mentions - if you think lottery is fixed you have to understand that the whole league knows what is going on and is it possible to believe nobody would come out of the closet to call bullshit.
Not sure how they do it — maybe their is some sort of NDA that if owner or management ever comment on league decisions they are subject to HUGE fines and or will be blackballed forever.
I just don’t believe the Luka trade or this lottery were on the up and up ——- NO WAY.

If Luka stays fat and blows his ACL, then perhaps? Im not saying there is a conspiracy but in some aspects Luka is Zion but has stayed much healthier. I suppose we don't know until we get a few years ahead and look back. For what its worth Has the Pelicans really been successful with Zion that we all called "bullshit on" when he was drafted? All the warning signs were there and we all talked about Zion being able to be that guy with that body? Luka was slim teen who defied most scouts and was far more talented than projected early. That dad bod he has is holding up reasonable but there is no credence to Dallas "concerns" at all? Is he going to play defense? Stop whining to refs? Put in the work off season and keep the weight off? Hey, more power to him and the lakers if so. How does NBA help team get that land for the arena? Wouldn't they be doing this anyway?
Tim Donaghy was the worst thing that could ever happen to the NBA. Yet that got out. Other than fan conjecture is there any evidence all 30 teams collude to fix the draft?
Even if so, and I admit some things look weird (not the Tony Bennett draft huh?), how is it hurt the fan?
TheGame@ 5/20/2025 5:17 PM
2011 Chris Paul traded to LA Clippers next draft the New Orleans Pelicans get the number one pick Anthony Davis. 2019 Anthony Davis is traded to the LA Lakers and in the same draft year the New Orleans Pelicans get the number one pick turns into Zion Williamson. 2024 Dallas Mavericks trade Luka Dončić to the Lakers and the same draft year they get the number one pick.
Seems like something fishy is going on. 🤔🤔

No official draft thread yet, so I'll put this here. This big boy, super senior from Nova is in our projected draft He's like a 30 cents on the dollar Julius. Also, he's from Nova.
