Knicks · Next Round: Pacers (page 1)

Assuming its Indiana we need to play a defense where we overplay the passing lanes. Indiana is a good passing team and we need to counter by seeing the next passs. I can see OG being very impactful.
VDesai @ 5/13/2025 2:15 PM
Not counting my chickens yet and neither are Indy fans.

That said thinking about at theoretical matchup.

OG had a huge impact defensively all playoffs and certainly in Game 1 and especially Game 2 last year. Was having a career best game, 28 pts in 28 mins in that game. Having a full strength OG would be a huge difference maker. Beyond that we'd also have Mitch Robinson available who wasn't last year, and Mikal Bridges to help guard Haliburton. Then you can put OG on Siakam. And while Indy is gonna press and trap Brunson and cry about fouls like they did last year and the way Detroit did this year, they generally are a bad defensive team and have no real answers for KAT.

I don't know much about Pacers but I also wonder how much they have to throw against both KAT and Beast Mitch. That's a lot for any team outside of Minny.

Don’t be surprised if Boston looks better without Tatum. They have a deep and hungry for mins team full of clutch 2way players. Also Jbrown was the MVP during last years championship run, so he’s as clutch as they come. And when he’s on a roll he’s unstoppable.

I think getting past Detroit and then battling the Celtics should prepare us for any matchup moving forward.

Come on, now. Tatum is a top 3-4 MVP candiate. Let's not get crazy here.

On paper, we can beat Indiana, but I'll be honest, I'm concerned. They seem to have our number. And they also have 3 point shooters all over the place, including Hali following his 5-step sidestep travels. F that guy.
Also, they are deep and very athletic and fast. I don't know if our defenders can keep up. Fingers crossed Thibs has one more trick up his sleeve (activate McCullar?). And that TJ McConnell is our kryptonite - stick Deuce on him when he's in the game, please.

We won 2/3 this year and scored above 120 in each game. Averaged 124 per game. KAT averaged 30 and 12 against them. Relying on KAT seems dicey these playoffs, but they didn't have an answer for him. And our defense right now is playing far better than they have all year. Full strength with OG and Robinson I think is big difference.

how does IND have our #?

If OG and then the rest of the team don't go down we probably win in 5-6 games last year.

that being said, F this thread because we cant look past BOS

Also count on them to play dirty. Did y'all see this drama between Mathurin and Hunter last game, where Mathurin just punched Hunter in the sternum and then stood there laughing after Hunter shoved him down and the refs reviewed? As always, Pacers are a bunch of punks. Punks = headgames = unpredictability in the series.

You can count on Indy to have several players that will give excessing contact. Maybe not exactly dirty but very intentional and timed to where you can't defend yourself. We are going to have to go at them and attack. You can count on them pushing/pulling/grabbing Brunson for 90' the entire game. Nembhard and Nesmith love excessive contact and Mathurin looks like a total head case who you can bait into foul trouble but will exert massive energy on D.

I would love this matchup. Knicks need to punch them in the mouth and stay aggressive against these kids.

VDesai @ 5/13/2025 5:36 PM
Detroit built on the Indy playbook that was started last year.

Cry to the media about fouls and calls. Talk about being small market hicks getting exploited by big city folk.

Foul Brunson all the way up the court and dare the refs to call it.

Mentioned this on game thread.
Remember most coaches worried about let downs when playing teams who lost their best player.
Hard to game plan for a different offense whose lost its go to guy.
Also mentioned how I felt Brown had better all around Bball IQ and several others on their roster have experience stepping up before.

Think game 5 will be a tough game. Especially because it’s in Boston.
They also know that if they manage a win, the pressure will shift back to us in game 6.

Knicks/fans need to focus on just the next game.

Who does Boston move into the SL?

Who does Boston move into the SL?

I’m thinking Pritchard. Who can cover Hart and can somewhat replace Tatum’s 3pt shooting threat.
They can also match up with KP and Horford when KAT and MR are in.

Cavs are the same soft team that we embarrassed a couple years ago. That was almost hard to watch them get punked all series long like that.
Panos @ 5/13/2025 9:57 PM
For what it's worth, it was looking like we were going to face Indy in the first round till they surged at the end of the season. So, it's just a delayed occurence

While the smiley one can be obnoxious, have to respect him and his return to form after an embarrassing summer and leg issues.
One don't have to like him, bit might be at lease respect his game. As for Cav's, the small back court won't work.

Im focused on this miserable series at hand with the Celtics. We get thru them, then its go time.
