There was no call and no challenges available even if there were.

Chandler @ 5/22/2025 7:12 AM
Knicks need to stick to their man.

Last year was nembhard. Last night it was nesmith in 4th and nembhard in ot

We’re defending them as if they were us. Stop Brunson and KAT and you stop the Knicks. Hoping one of the knowledgeable types like vdesai dleethal living legend etc can explain how we lost those guys and how to fix it.

DLeethal @ 5/22/2025 7:30 AM
I’m sick but just gotta move onto the next. Split at home like we did against DET then take care of business on the road. There are lots of good signs from last night despite an epic meltdown in the last couple minutes. A deep playoff run is going to filled with misery and victory. Winning the next game is the only cure for this meltdown.
houston20 @ 5/22/2025 7:39 AM
We got to make free throws I knew when Mikal bridges missed the free throws to start third quarter that we could be in trouble. I understand Mitch Robinson missing free throws but the other guys like OG,Towns, Bridges and all the rest don’t get a pass for it. If OG and Kat made there free throws we win this game by 5 minimum 4 points. I hate that stupid Tyrese Hailburton with his choke sign bulletin material for the knicks he don’t respect us.
Chandler @ 5/22/2025 7:52 AM
I wish there were like 0.1 seconds left on clock when Hali made that shot. Refs could then have called a technical for taunting and win the game on the free throw.

There are a to. Of good things from yesterday which is why the game hurts. We got sloppy for like 2 minutes letting guys get open and take threes

Even a dumb dumb like me knew the only way pacers could come back was by hitting bombs or stopping the clock w fouls

Knicksfan @ 5/22/2025 8:09 AM
Haliburton was a player that I respected when I knew little about him other than his potential for being a good PG. But, oh boy, is this guy probably the most annoying, immature punk! His celebration against the Cavs with the balls was embarrassing, but last night with the choke thing, wow.

This is it. We thought the Celtics were the ultimate challenge, mainly because we were such an underdog, but no. It had to be the Pacers. Them who eliminated us last season and mocked us even if we were injured. No, it’s the Pacers and their punk immature leader who needs to be humbled down. They have said that this isn’t a revenge series and they played like that in this game, letting a win slip away in historic fashion. Yes, that’s embarrassing, but it’s only one game. Now it’s for the Knicks to respond in dramatic fashion for the rest of the series or else.

The Pacers don’t respect us because they have a punk of a leader and it has helped them win some games. This Knicks team needs to respond and humble them the rest of the way. This Knicks team needs to learn their last lesson, which they seem to be resisting to: focus for the whole game! They honestly played great and showed they can play at any style, but wow! What the heck happened in that final quarter and overtime has to be a lesson learned immediately. This can’t happen again! You can’t let this fugazy bum pull a choke gesture like that!

The Knicks better respond for next game and for the rest of the series!

Nalod @ 5/22/2025 8:13 AM

Yes, it was a choke and Hali enshrined now as a top villain. Now perhaps one can understand why Thibs does not pull players off the court too soon because this is the NBA and lightening can strike. Want to yell about a young man who under pressure in the Mecca destroyed us and all you got is he put out the choke sign and and he annoys you? That shot dropping thru was incredible theatre. Nesbits shots time and time again leading to it was incredible. Daggers for two minutes!
Its not like its a systemic issue for knicks........They don't collapse like that often.

Chander, take the loss like a man. Not some entitled fanboy. Grow a pair. Look at you man, he in your head cause you let him. You do understand that WWE thing with Brunson as is all wrestling is kind of made up, right? You do see that fans near the court were yelling shit at him all night? You think cause he in the "Mecca" he should not have reacted as he did? He fucking earned the moment. He lead that attack and snatched that game from us. Part choke, but make no bones about it the Pacers rained threes over and over again. They executed a come back. They snatched a win. If you don't see that thru the hurt thats not on me. The Sweatshirt thing? It was Funny shit last year. Was it a classy thing to do? NO. Brunson would not have done it. But here we are a year later and he backed it up. If they advance its a iconic moment for the franchise. Like Larry's 4 pt play and H20's shot. Knick fans still have those moments 25 years later cuz we have not won a chip. Neither have they. He caught some shit for that sweatshirt and now he backed it up and has his own moment. What do you have? "Idiot Nalod"? Be funny as shit if you saw "Idiot Nalod" tee shirts pop up in your neighborhood now. They'd all be laughing at you. Take the loss like a man. Dignify yourself.

Losers cry about what could have been.
Winners learn from their mistakes and get to work on winning the next one.
Yes, that was the worst loss of the year but for 46 minutes we were in control and playing great basketball. It took a couple of guys going into video game mode and some shitty non calls.
But KAT, Bridges and IB showed up strong and the Bench played well. OG struggled a bit but hit some big shots.
Now we know what the Celts felt like after the first game. Key will be to not follow suit in the second game!
Like the Celts series, felt that if they stayed healthy and played to their ability, they would win the series. Think we proved the first 46 that we are the better team. No one said it would be easy.
Hit some more FT’s, keep attacking for 48 minutes and we will win the series!!

Nalod you’re an idiot. There’s no fixing that

I said Hali played well. My point is he was classless and your defense of him last year trying to explain away the sweatshirt in that context was, and remains, idiotic. And in terms of manning up,you should be fessing up that you were wrong about that

This year he has confirmed he’s a punk

You’re also an idiot for thinking Hali somehow earned it. Nesmith earned it in the 4th and nembhard in OT. Hali’s shot was lucky

Last year karma repaid his game 7 gloating w a Celtics sweep. Hoping karma is tuned in again.

yup... Pacers were gonna win games. They HAD to have this game. They gave the Knicks their best, went on a crazy run, got missed FTs and they had a guy who averages 12 a game act like Steph Curry. If they get that 3 more times they deserve to win.

My money is still on the Knicks. Knicks did a lot of things right. Late game execution is usually a strong point. I feel pretty good about them fixing this. Time will tell

DLeethal @ 5/22/2025 8:48 AM
Hali’s antics make you appreciate the Celtics professionalism.
DLeethal @ 5/22/2025 8:49 AM
I don’t want to give this game one more shred of thought. Just win the next one and keep it moving. Boston and Cleveland both failed to split after getting shell shocked in game 2. We must remain poised.
VDesai @ 5/22/2025 8:55 AM
Knicks can, and I think will still win this series, but nothing will stop that from being probably the most improbable loss/comeback in sports history. Even if we make it a footnote it will be played over and over again. Up 14 with less than 3 min to go should be insurmountable in today's NBA. Even in the age of 40 pt quarters, scoring 20 pts in 3 mins shouldn't be mathematically possible.

There were so many mistakes made. But probably more good / slightly improbably shots made than mistakes.

Team needs to clean up when it can clean up. Brunson should have used the clock when up 5 with 29 seconds to go instead of trying to make that pass to OG with 20 on the shot clock. You gotta make them foul you or get it to under 10 seconds left. If we're up 5 with under 10 seconds left, that's an even more improbable come back.

In general Brunson was careless with the ball or got himself into bad spots at the end of the game. He knows he needs to be better to close that out.

Guys have to make free throws.

OG played off Nesmith on at least two occasions and shouldn't have allowed him enough space to be shooting 3's in a situation where only 3's can kill you.

There were some blown calls. A non-call goal tend when that would have made it +6, and then its a 3 the other way. Haven't they changed goaltending calls after the fact this year? Why didn't they pause to take a look at that? That was a huge play that could have given the Knicks the edge.

The OG/Siakam play never should've happened (Brunson should have dribbled out the ball, use the clock or let them foul him). However, even if you want to say Siakam makes clean initial contact, its a clear loose ball foul after that. He grabs the Jersey and uses his legs to knock OG off balance. How can you overturn the foul on that. Was a BRUTAL interpretation.

Haliburton gets the world's most insane bounce. Only comparable bounce was Kawhi, but I mean this shot was back rim and goes straight up in the air 6 feet...almost impossible from a physics standpoint. Should have been a brick. But EVERYTHING was going in for Indy at that point. Never seen anything like it in my life.

It was like Maxey's comeback in Game 5 last year but on a 5x scale.

VDesai @ 5/22/2025 8:56 AM
I'll be honest, I don't care either way about Haliburton's antics. He wants to play WWE heel. You combat them by giving him the embarassment. Ultimately, he made a lot of plays last night. A ton of plays.
Knicksfan @ 5/22/2025 8:58 AM
The defense, man… WTF was going on in the 4th and OT?

For whatever specific reasons I’m considering this team needs a new voice, even in the ECF, is everytime they go out there and look disorganized, not knowing wtf to do or where to go. It happens every few games, but makes you question this team’s focus and as an extension the coaching staff’s. It’s still “Jekyll and Hyde” out there with this team, quickly moving from one extreme to the other. It was pretty evident what the Pacers decided to do in the 4th trailing by double digits, yet you can’t find a way to adjust to that?

This team, man…

Knixkik @ 5/22/2025 8:59 AM
We have learned no lead is safe. It’s been both a benefit and detriment to this team in the playoffs. Just need to win game 2 then split on the road. We still have the ability to win this series.
SergioNYK @ 5/22/2025 9:03 AM
It's like we went into a time machine back to 1995. That was just brutal. One of the worst losses in Knicks history. I feel like a close relative just died to by honest.

Where do we even start? It's never on one or two players when something like this happens. The entire team and Thibs shit the bed in that final two minutes. Game was won. Up 14 with 2:51 and up 9 with 58 seconds left. Game over. I will force myself later to watch the last two minutes but in real time I was most upset and angry at OG cause he played really soft defense on Nesmith and gave up most if not all of those threes. And he missed a clutch FT. KAT also missed one with 14 secs left that would've given us a 4 point lead and ended the game. As team we missed 12 FT's which you simply cannot do in a playoff game!

Seeing Haliburton do the choke sign was a knife to the heart. I still cannot believe that shot went in after it hit the back of the rim and bounced high and in. Might as well been a three cause we had no business playing OT after that collapse. Even up four in the OT I wasn't feeling it.

It hurts and it sucks. I barely slept. But this team has resolve and thrives on adversity and responds to losses really well and I have no doubt they will punch back tomorrow. This was never going to be a short or easy series and losses like this were kind of expected at some point. It's part of the journey if you want to get to where we want. So lick your wounds and put this one to bed after today and get ready for game two!

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS, but just one quick thought. Media and everyone will keep pushing the biggest comeback and all that ish and it’s right, but at the same time, this isn’t the same NBA as most of those games. For however we hate Thibs for leaving his starters in on lopsided wins, this was exactly the nightmare he has always feared: a team with nothing to lose and a clear idea of just chucking threes hoping for luck to strike. But that is also why I have more issues with Thibs: if this is your nightmare scenario, how come you don’t prepare for it with a good plan? We played horribly with the lead in the 4th. There was no defensive plan for that.

To sum it up, yes it hurts and it’s historic, but this was the real version of anyone who has played NBA live, trailing by a lot and making sure those 3s keep hitting to make the comeback. Thibs and Co. were not prepared at all.

Oh, and I have to add: I honestly don’t know who is more frustrating as a player: OG or Bridges. Both are so crucial in wins, but in every loss there is usually one or both who disappears. For all his demands for his contract, OG has a disappearing act that I really hate! Those free throws, man…

VDesai @ 5/22/2025 9:08 AM
I think too many times Brunson has gotten distracted when he's getting pressed/fouled by his opponent and the ref doesn't call it. It makes him want to beat that defender one on one and it comes to the detriment of good judgement.

Check the OG play again. Siakam was pushing OG with his lower hand that should have been enough to maintain the foul call

The real sin was not covering the 3 point line better. Given the time it was pacers only hope to hit threes and get turnovers.
