So we talk about Year 1 of this team yet we are trading KAT? I don’t know about that. His defense was bad, but considering the team had no idea what they were even trying to do from game to game. Heck, we spent most of the season without a clear idea on defense. I don’t think the answer is to trade him.

You’re probably only getting one of them with the $5 million MLE if we are lucky. I would prefer Chris Paul he can take Cam Payne spot in the rotation.
Depends on them - do they value a couple extra million at this stage versus a ring.
Paul got $10 million from the spurs this season. Yes he’s 40 but he’s still a name. Maybe Paul takes a paycut to try to win a ring in NYC to crown his career I would think it makes sense for him even if he can make more money playing in some podunk market with no shot at a championship
He would make more salary elsewhere but more money considering endorsements etc???
What about Lowry? It’s not like we need a lot of minutes.

Mitch/Huki at C, and try to sign a guy like Hortford.
Move Hart to bench.
Mitch
KD
OG
Mikal
Brunson
honestly i would even think of expanding a deal with Mikal going back to PHO and Grayson Allen coming here. Much better shooter and fit at SG.
I agree this has to be on the table. Probably the best chance we have to get out of KATs contract if we determine his deficiencies are too much to overcome. Durant on paper fills a ton of holes we saw exposed on this team in the playoffs in terms of deep shooting and even ball handling / secondary creation. He would probably be the best #2 option in the league immediately on this roster.
Durant rejected the Knicks for the nets he told the Knicks how he really felt. Kevin Durant is not coming here and he can’t handle the pressure of nyc.
He didn’t want to be a savior and he wouldn’t have to be one. This is Jalen’s team.
Kevin Durant rejected the Knicks still. The Knicks have a history when players reject Knicks multiple times like LeBron and Durant they don’t go after you again.

We are not in the Steve Mills era simply begging people to come because of NYC fame and fortune. So whatever happened when that was the case is irrelevant to us now.
Not a fan of KD move. I’m in the he had his chance camp
Also we already have a problem w sharing the ball. I think we’ll do better getting a veteran pg who the players and Thibs respects. JB needs to play off ball more. And I love deuce and we should keep him but if he’s out there w JB deuce would be off ball.
I’d even be interested in a Josh giddy to some degree. We need to share the ball more
I would try to bring back Burks and bojan bogdanvic we missed those guys badly.

Josh Giddy wants 120 million from bulls plus under age girl thing he did not good look in nyc.

Fair enough
I’m thinking we need pass first pg to pair w JB. And preferably a vet.
The Durant move is a move if you are sold that you have to move on from KAT. I’m not necessarily sold on that but I’m close. And you have to be realistic about what kind of moves you can make with that salary.
And I do think Brunson - Mikal - OG - Durant - Mitch is a legit as you can build title contender.

I said this before once star player rejects the Knicks like LeBron or Durant you don’t get second or third chances. In Durant situation he already told you how he felt about Knicks he chose the nets because it’s less pressure for him. Durant doesn’t like the Knicks media all up in his business and he can’t handle the real pressure of nyc so no to him.

This seems like an emotional way to make a business decision to me.
If Knicks feel they have to move on from KAT you don’t turn down an opportunity to get a legit #2 back like that especially if it’s the best or only offer on the table, out of emotional spite bc we got turned down during the Steve Mills era
Again, you likely won’t find a better lineup than the Durant lineup in a KAT swap that leaves you with a bonafide contender.

The shady business that royal Ivey and Deandre Jordan did also was bad way doing business. Kevin Durant is a snake that you can’t trust. I would rather trade Josh hart and precious for pj Washington and Daniel Gafford get power forward and a backup center. Sign Bruce brown, bojan bogdanvic, and Alec Burks.
Houston Rockets receive:
• Kevin Durant (from Phoenix)
Phoenix Suns receive:
• Karl-Anthony Towns
• 2025 Brooklyn 1st-round pick (unprotected) (via Houston)
• 2027 Houston 1st-round pick (light protection)
• 2029 Houston swap rights
New York Knicks receive:
• Jabari Smith Jr. (from Houston)
• Dillon Brooks (from Houston)
That could be interesting if you move Smith to Center. Again not the star towns is but would be a lot to handle defensively, you’re really banking on Smith for the long term.
Brunson, Bridges, Brooks, OG, Smith
Kolek, McBride, Dadiet, Hart, Mitch

No to Dillion brooks most overrated player in the nba talks to much chit and can’t back it up.

Don’t think Knicks dump Towns for role players. They might as well keep them. Brunson won’t be able to get to the ECF without a legit #2 and Knicks won’t go backwards just to shed KAT.

Really makes a ton of sense tbh. PHX priority number 1 is likely to keep Booker happy and willing to stay.

Durant is a bit of a kook. He totally bitched out on OKC and they got nothing for him. Went super nova diva and had some snide remarks about Knicks when he could have just kept his trap shut
and I don't see how Durant makes us any less awkward on offense. At the moment, it seems JB/Thibs wants to run a D.Rose or Allen Iverson type of system where one guy takes all the shots; the other guys space and play D.
that approach got exposed by Detroit and Pacers and if we won OKC would have done same.

Durant is one of the best offensive players in NBA history, you don't see how he'd help our offense? But its really more about defense.

Durant and JB can take turns going to work which is what a Thibs offense is going to be regardless. Durant can create for himself and others against any defense, and can actually get volume 3s up with high efficiency against any defense versus needing to be set up like KAT and OG and Mikal. He will also be able to help JB against pressure.
Sure he’s a kook but again we’re talking about swapping KAT here we can’t really get the perfect player in their prime in return.
The lineup after a KAT / Durant trade is a bonafide championship level team in my opinion.
