The rookie exception can be used on Diawara, Pate or Nnaji. I think most would have bet on Nnaji because he was a higher pick/played in Europe, theoretically more developed. That said I think Diawara might have an edge on Nnaji. Someone with his motor/athletic ability on the wing can find more ways to disrupt the game.
2 ways to me are going to be Nnaji, Pate and McCullar. Or maybe Nnaji goes back overseas for another season and you can keep a guy like Watson or Beachamp. Maybe McCullar gets rostered as a veteran min if we don't look to sign someone else.
Yeah this was my guess as well. Diawara for the second round exception sounds perfect.
Does Diawara remind anyone of a raw Pascal Siakam?
100% looks like a young Siakam out there in terms of just physical size and movement. Obviously that probably isn’t the likely outcome but it doesn’t take much imagination to see. If we want a more attainable comp, watch Jonathan Mogbo from Toronto last year. In terms of size and movement, and just raw skill in the open floor that’s a guy who might be a realistic outcome. But I think he’s got some upside, maybe beyond a typical late second round guy.
He kinda reminds me of a less skilled Tim Thomas without motor issues.

Not sure if i am missing something here but if Nnaji is one of the favorites for a 2 way contract why they did not give him significant minutes even in 1 of the games? They did that with all others mentioned above.

Some media said he reminds them of a younger less developed OG.

If I were him, I would ask for a copy of one of OG's paychecks to put in his locker to look at everyday for motivation to develop a jumpshot.

Btw, its that time of the summer where Mitch posts up videos of him shooting jumpers in the gym.

Last two summer leagues Dadiet barely played. Last year he showed up and impressed in pre season in one or two games only. Man, he feels like the Knicks are treating Dadiet like a State secret. Hope he shows out in pre season again

1AM is most important part of serious NBA summer workouts -- nothing good happens from 5AM to midnight and only the great FT shooters work out at 1AM.
Watching that clip I assume Mitch shooting 40% from FT next year -- absolutely no method to his madness (just chucking shots up with friend in HS gym - almost laughable if it wasn't so cringe).

He needs to start knocking down his shots at a high clip - form is really nice but he looked like poo poo in G-League and like you say been injured last 2 summer leagues.
Kid has definite talent - hope he finds a way to maximize. I see him as an effective bench 4 that spreads the floor down the road and can play in a solid team scheme. Just hope he can make that happen.

Stotts would be a good addition to the bench.
They had two trips to the second round and one trip to the WCF in Portland under Stotts. Dont remember them having a deep squad for the most part. Not since Clyde Drexler.
A mix of youth and experience at asst coach would be a good way to go.
Alpha1971@ 7/19/2025 12:18 PM
I like Diuwara working out with Dadiet. Those two are friends and can really push each other. Hope Dadiet takes a big step. They can really help one another raises each other's games.

KnicksMuse, also subtly suggesting a starting lineup change. Nice.
