Kat has a way of giving utter joy (buckets) and terror (fouls, missed bunnies, illegal picks all night and unneeded shoves all night)

He’s so damn good on offense when he’s going and it’s what makes the fouls so damn frustrating.

Barkley just grilled him on those fouls in the post game when KAT joined the TNT guys. He played it off at first ("Why are you making those dumb fouls?" "God only knows") but seemed uncomfortable as they kept pressing it. Admitted it hurts the team and he's got to get better about it.

Have grown to love Kat but he's all talk and will be right back to stupid fouling come Sat.

I don't think so. I watched that interview and I thought he actually took it seriously. We need some good vibes from you man!

Mitch needs to show up big time Sat -- he's been very up down and we need a career game from him Sat.

Crazy how good of a 1st step Kat has given he's 7 foot, awkward and slow as molasses --- he just get's by everyone even forwards.

spoiler alert:

We will win game 6

there are many players on the Pacers starting with M. Turner where KAT is in their nightmares.

All of our guys are at least playing with confidence. We get a consistent game from our team, and cut down stupid turnovers and we win.

Come on man - I've been posting Kat stats about him beasting all over -- I just don't think a 10 year vet is going to change his stripes because Barkley ask's him.

OK - I will stay positive and assume we play our best game of the year Sat.

We shot 27% from 3 and 68% from the line. We KNOW this team can shoot 40/50/90. Gotta get them legs back under them.

Yea but the same thing happened in game 1 and it turned out different. In a 5-10 point game you gotta make those to close it out. We are great at closing out 1 possession games but not great at closing out 3+ possession games. We struggle with prosperity on every level. To win the next game those shots need to go in and those turnovers need to not happen.

Barkley just asked him about it, and I got the sense KAT was taking it to heart. Another area with some slight improvement, good things can happen. He needs to be on the court and touching the ball a lot

Hope so. SVG correctly called out the chain of events after KATs foul trouble which led to like a 10-0 run and Precious Ahiuwa minutes. Thibs worked wonders getting Mitch to play without fouling. KAT might be too far gone in that regard.

For all the negativity about this team, we're 2 wins away from the NBA finals.

I like our chances.

But, then again, I also thought Eddy Curry could learn to get defensive rebounds.

LivingLegend @ 5/29/2025 11:44 PM
Have to admit I got so caught up in just hoping we'd win I didn't even notice exactly what we were doing defensively.

Did we revert to switching everything or did we stick with running Brunson away from Hali and Kat in drop?

Felt like early Brunson was involved in some one on one defense and really worked hard and held up (early in the game)

DLeethal @ 5/29/2025 11:45 PM
I’m not satisfied until we win game 6. Anything can happen in game 7 but winning game 6 erases the crappy losses from early in the series. That’s why I’m nitpicking how we closed out a 20 pt lead. We gave up like a 10-0 run at some point. Again these things will turn a win into a loss next game. I’ll celebrate an ugly win in game 6 and 7 but not here. Clean up the turnovers and hit the kill shots.

Looked very similar to last game tbh. Brunson would show and they would switch back to Mikal. They were just crisper and I’m sure the second line of defense was crowding and doing what they were supposed to do. But we didn’t really switch unless a last resort tonight it seemed to me. Have to acknowledge Nesmith missed a bunch of 3s and Nembhard did nothing out there.

Me either but than we'll definitely need to win 7 or we'll all be bitching.

To me game 6 comes down to great defensive effort and we aren't going to be able to generate that without heavy / deep bench minutes.
Thibs has got to trust Shamet/Wright/Mitch even more - they are defending as well as anyone on team right now and pressuring the ball.

Oh that’s fantastic

DLeethal @ 5/29/2025 11:50 PM
The biggest change I saw was Mikal pressing full court and actually bumping Haliburton and getting a little physical. I think overall we swarmed well and made him see bodies
BigRedDog @ 5/29/2025 11:51 PM
We gave up at least 9 wide open 3's. We need to defend the 3 pt line better. Also Kat just needs to stop pushing guys. Just go up with your arms.

We were more physical w Hali too. Stayed in contact w him a lot. That Slowed things down IMO

Yea but it’s a different level of disappointment. They will have scrapped their way back and lost a tight series by a hair. It would erase the stink of the first 2 games IMO and would go down with pride. Losing in 5 would have been embarrassing and losing in 6 after falling down 3-1 is still a beat down that we’ve experienced before like MIA and 2013 Indy.
