Think we should think 2 steps back and delay gratification. Don't think outside of Giannis there is a move that catapults us further. Why not revisit Martin's suggestion about Amen Thompson, Tari Eason and maybe some pick to reload and get younger wing depth?
JesseDark @ 6/3/2025 11:48 AM
Another name I heard as a potential target is Malik Beasley of the Pistons.

Couldn't tell how good his defense was but certainly a super sized version of Shamet.

His defense is the reason teams keep passing him around like a blunt. That and his mental instabilities.

If Leon trades Bridges in a deal for a superstar. Those 5frps will be like a down payment on one. If we dont make the ECF next season with the roster largely intact. I'm guessing those 5frps will be on Leon's epitath as team president.

Guys with character questions have been completely off Leon's radar

Use him in a sign and trade?

Knicks can’t take in a S&T player cause they over the 1st apron.

And Hart is not getting moved. He’s Brunson’s main guy and was a culture shifter here.

not to mention he's a good phucking player and we need him
blkexec @ 6/6/2025 8:38 PM
According to Gery woelfel, these rumors are heating up with giannus and Kidd. Assuming we give up KAT and kolek. The rest are picks (rumors). Does this reduce our shooting? Are we still running with the double big lineup? Would you include deuce and kolek, if they ask?

So many questions. And if Leon can pull this off, I don’t care if we don’t when a chip. We should be consistently in the ECF for a while.

And yes you keep Hart. That’s our superstar main man. Keep his daddy somehow. Do whatever you can to make captain happy. Hire his momma if we have to.

Horford / Mitch
Giannis / Hart
OG / (Shooter)
Mikal / Deuce
JB / Wright

How would you build around Giannis and JB? Serious question.

Giannis / Mitch
OG / Hart
Mikal (Shooter)
Divo / Deuce
JB / Wright

We need a Chris Paul type of backup. Need shooters. Indy and OKC are deep and full of shooters in their second unit.

Giannis for

two of either Karl-Anthony Towns, OG Anunoby or Mikal Bridges is a lot, unless we getting Bobby Portis

I have my doubts about Giannis in NY working. But if it has to be done I'd offer KAT/Bridges/Huk

With Giannis's usage rate, KAT will be lucky to touch the ball. Bridges has shown himself to be majorly clutch, but its the quiet play between those big shots.

Im against trading OG. A Giannis/OG front line will be in the running for the best defensive front line in the league. And OG knows how to play off the ball. Which he would be doing a lot with Giannis.

Giving up those 5 frps for Bridges was arguably a record overpay. Leon wanted Bridges on the roster, and that was that. But making that kind of a deal for a superstar wont necessarily get us closer to contending, if too much is going back the other way.

If OKC loses in the Finals, Giannis might be a tempting option, and they have the resources to make a record offer. What will it take to beat the other offers? What will be left?

Dont believe we necessarily need a high usage player like Giannis, maybe another all-star. If Leon hadnt given away the store for Bridges, I'd be more confident that he wont give away the store again.

If I am trading for Giannis, I am including Brunson. I think you recreate his Championship team. That would mean trading Brunson and KAT. Brunson and Robinson to NOP for Murray, Pick 7 and Herb Jones. KAT, #7, Wash 2026, Knickswap 2026 and Dadiet for Giannis. Really need a center but in a pinch you could role with a reclamation free agent signing or drop Huk off in the deep end. Sign Trent, Boucher and [Lyles]? The stretch center on the cheap is gonna be an issue. Got Hart’s contract to flip.

Murray / Deuce / Kolek
Jones / Trent / McCullar
OG / Bridges /
Giannis / Boucher /
Lyles / Huk / Nnaji

Yeah it’s nuts but folk also said no one would fire Thibs. Hellfire is breaking loose. This is a team built to compete with the motion and defense of teams like OKC and the Pacers.

Man...Murray is coming off that Achilles tear. I would steer clear of him until I can see how he moves. Assuming he comes back from no complications, what's the best case scenario for his return? 85%?

Saw the latest Knicks Film School episode and it has a Cap primer for this coming off season. Knicks are very, very, very limited with what they can do. Expect the present cast to return minus Cam, and a few of Shamet, Wright, Precious. Tucker may return. Rookies may get some burn out of necessity. Second rounder this year may also get rostered due to second apron considerations. Money is tight. Free agent target will likely have to take less then TMLE. Shopping hopes limited so friendships essential to luring a FA. Whoever they sign will likely get key minutes. Unless they improve the teams with trades. Bridges, Mitch, anyone not Brunson, can be traded by this FO. My hunch is they will be looking for Pacome and Kolek to contribute. Hukporti needs to be healthy as does McCullers. Those picks were all well planned.

This is far more likely than a massive trade for KD or Giannis. This team was one weird bounce shy from going into game 7 as the favorite against a team that seems to have the nba cheat code right now. They need to really good player to commit to coming here for cheap via the TPMLE with the promise of a major role. A level of player that you would think would make more money on the open market. Every year a player like that signs with a contender. That’s what the Knicks need in addition to running it back with obviously a new coach.

VDesai @ 6/7/2025 7:30 AM
Yes they need to add players using the 5.7mm MLE and vet minimum. Otherwise its trades. Horford or Paul - aging but useful vets, are a possibility. Otherwise an under the radar young guy like LaRavia, but if we are on him, he probably isnt under the radar.

apparently team won't be able to offer the full, a little less. And maybe not both of Shamet and Wright.

The lack of assets or cap space make it hard to justify giving up draft compensation for Kidd or any other coach under contract.

We have 8 second round picks so we could spare a few of those IMO.
