We have 8 second round picks so we could spare a few of those IMO.

Dallas is rebuilding a single second rounder for a head coach is great. They get to save money also on a less expensive head coach. Win win.
Kelly Oubre has been a player I always liked. He may be in our range. Athletic, smart, wing. Amir Coffee another wing ?

If the Knicks convinced Horford to join for a title run and convinced him to take 4.7M in year 1 out of the 5.7M MLE, they would have the room to sign 2 more vets at the minimum and 1 second round exception guy, while leaving about 1M left for a 15th man vet later in the season. It would be a commitment to have Mitch/ Horford anchor the defense at center for about 24 mpg each, and KAT at the 4. Knicks could sign a playmaker with 1 minimum contract (Tyus Jones or Dinwiddie maybe) and then bring back Shamet or Wright. Let’s say Dinwiddie and Shamet join, with McCullar getting a second round exception deal.
C Robinson/ Horford/ Hukporti
PF Towns/ Dadiet
SF Anunoby/ Hart/ McCullar
SG Bridges/ McBride/ Shamet
PG Brunson/ Dinwiddie/ Kolek
Incredible balance. Horford, Hart, McBride and Dinwiddie is an awesome bench rotation, with Shamet also getting his chances. To be this is about best case scenario outside of getting Giannis for 75 cents on the dollar. Knicks have to convince really good free agents to sign for cheap. That is the way.

If we get Kidd, perhaps that will help lure ring chasers. Hope the players also have some influence in luring some vets on a discount. I also would like Brook Lopez as a bench 5. Start Lopez with Towns. Let's see how this works out. I always thought Dadiet would be.
A 3/4. See that shaping up

KAT would have the biggest influence in luring Horford. Dominican Republic teammates and I guess they are pretty close.

Indeed but don't forget Jason Kidd also coached Lopez on the Nets and Lopez lived in Brooklyn with the Nets for years. I wonder who has more in the tank Lopez or Horford ?

I need to actually see Kidd get permission to talk to the Knicks before making any real Kidd connections.
Kid beloved by fans in dallas?

I wouldn’t trade a pick for Kidd but if Miriam Adelson wants $10 million I’d do that

Mitch, Deuce and Huk were second rd picks. I want Kidd but no draft pick compensation if the mavericks want draft picks I’d rather just sign Malone who would run to work here.

If we do get Kidd Chris Paul will probably take the $5 mil MLE to come here

Chris Paul makes it seem like he wants to play in LA to be with his family. I’m not counting on him. He and Rose are close, but otherwise I don’t see him coming across the country to back up Jalen Brunson.
I’ve thought about it and Rokas would have helped us this year. More than Kolek. If that was Thibs call…

Not everything needs to be blamed, right?
We know that Rokas has priorities of playing and having a contract and the Knicks didn’t have cap space after the KAT trade.

Curious if he gets considered this summer, and if he also considers the second round exception. He would be ideal for filling out the roster with cheap, nba ready talent. More than the typical second round pick.

Or that center whose rights we acquired, also a second rounder,
Assists and rebounds, couple of the reasons why Deuce may not have been in lineup.

Depends. He’s 40 and this next contract will likely be his last which means it will be his last ever real pay day of his life unless he goes into coaching. If the Knicks offer MLE $5 mil but also make it a 3 year deal that’s significant that means he will be making nba money up until 43.
martin wrote:Assists and rebounds, couple of the reasons why Deuce may not have been in lineup.
Payne played a lot with KAT, because he had the highest rate of setting up KAT of any player on the team and ran the pick and roll well. Unfortunately he peaked in Game 1 of the Detroit series and went on a shooting slump / foul accumulation binge for the entire playoffs after that.
