Not sure how close Giannis was to coach Bud...rumors were that he may have had a hand in the Bucks moving on from coach Bud. However, if the point is to bring in a coach to appease to Giannis, then the Knicks will try to pry Kidd from the Mavs. Doubt he would leave and I doubt the Mavs give us permission to spek to him

Only concern with Kidd , who many have said had the best Bball IQ they had ever seen, don’t see the work ethic being there. And certainly not close th Thibs. But would not mind that happening.
Suggestion about Bud mostly due to the fact that I feel Rose likes connected moves to upgrade roster. Specially if it is a way to draw in a superstar.

Yes Ian usually has the info and speaks in tongues. For example when we had the last roster spot to fill for a veteran, and everyone was thinking TJ Warren, he kept saying in his reports to not count out a locker room presence like PJ Tucker, because they may benefit from someone who is a good communicator. Then right after the season he said that the decision on the Coach was not made yet, and that while he thought that Thibs would be back, the decision was not made yet, and that no one should assume.
I heard him on his own show the putback and he seemed to say Johnny was a candidate and sort of rejected everyone else mentioned, so I came away thinking Johnny was the guy. But now he is saying something a bit different here.
Honestly I don't know how you fire an established, successful top coach like this without 1 or 2 people firmly in mind as a potential upgrade. They may run a thorough process, but I believe they have someone in mind and the focus is on modern/innovative offensive principles.

Do we truly expect a connected guy like Leon to fire Thibs without having a guy or two on his mind?
But do we also expect the franchise to openly say they want a guy after firing a respected and successful coach especially such a short while in between?
I think they know the route they are looking for and might have a guy or two in mind. If they aren’t one of the finalists of the Suns coach search, nothing to worry about. If they are and one is very interested in a possible interview from NY, something will come up before the end of the week, where Phoenix is expected to make a decision according to previous reports.
I was wildly wrong about Thibs being on the hot seat. Impossible to tell if it's a quality move or not because we do not know who the next guy is.
Feels like the Randle/DD trade. We just went to war with these guys and seeing them traded hurt. I like KAT but that trade cost us depth and likely the Pacers series. It's a time will tell thing also. Love Thibs here and the job he did. Absolutely proved once again he's an elite coach in this league. Fingers crossed the next guy is a better fit for this group, whatever that means.

Bryant would tell me it's an in house promotion and they have a plan to continue building something and once they knew it wasnt Thibs they said why wait (oh and here's 3 years of top industry pay)

If you take the report that Knicks were “blown away” in 2020 by Kidd’s interview it makes sense they’d go back to that.
They also said Rick Brunson’s contract is essentially tied to Jalen’s and he’s not going anywhere.

Yea he should never have been promoted to associate HC in my opinion. He should be a second row coach.
My guess is that OG has been a little bit leaky about some of these things. Doubt Mikal or Hart or KAT mind having Rick around.
For what it’s worth also, which is probably not much, but the BKE account is saying Knicks want to get Giannis without trading KAT. I’m sure the Kidd pursuit is related to this to some degree. And maybe some of this leakiness might be from OG’s camp. You can’t really get Giannis without OG going out.

All Kidd would have to do is tell the Mavs FO he wants the Knicks job and at that point he can’t coach that team anymore. I think they will get it done. The Giannis part is a whole nother story but I don’t think it’s that farfetched for him to tell DAL he wants to leave. He made bigger power plays in the past so he has it in him.

KAT may have been unhappy. Since Rick probably pushed for an JB led offense.

If now, maybe it’s because they feel Rick was the one pushing Thibs out.
Saw something mentioned when Thibs was fired that only a “few” players and coaches were interviewed by management.
Is that just JB? KAT? Rick?
Like I said before, if Rick stays somehow and they hire Wright, it’s clear it was the Brunsons behind the firing. Maybe that’s why players are unhappy.
If it’s Bud or Kidd, it’s to bring the Greek here.
