A lot of this you take with a grain of salt. But there is some truth to what Austin says. Leon isn't necessarily here to be loved. His goal is a title and he's been cut throat in his methods at times. Hope that doesn't run the right people the wrong way. He gets into it at the 4:40 mark.

Remember when some of us were like thinking Leon hired Thibs as a favor and get him paid?
Ok, well he kind of did…….
But he fired hi but first he became 4th winning coach in franchise history!
I agree, Leon gave thibs a year to work this roster. It was a knife fight most of the season and never really came together in harmony.

Yo, he's not wrong about the going after already employed coaches. It's pretty stupid and ridiculous.

As often said, there are two sides to the asking and it costs nothing and perhaps request grants an interview. Pussies don’t try for fear of what it might look like.
Leon said last time he learned a wealth of info last time on that also criticized “Ridiculous” process 5 years ago!
Leon obviously does not care. Austin trying to carve out his thing in a now crowded Pod Cast world.
I don’t take it as a personal afront if talking heads think knicks are being silly and have to also be cool and agree with it. It was said it would be a complete process. Also in talking with peers they do network it. While they are all trying compete for the same thing how they navigate trades and player movements also does. This could frame not a block buster trade but one that could matter. It also keeps the Tamper rumors away and is respectful. Even if they were allowed to talk to finch perhaps he discusses how he coached him and what thibs might have been doing well or what was wrong. So many other things to be gained.
Worst of it? A small handfull of talking heads say its silly. Thick skinned don’t care.

To be fair, Austin Rivers is a man who demands a high level of disrespect
